Hello!
Well, "Where's Charley?" is done, over, fini. It was a good run, and the second weekend went remarkably well. The cast party was fun too!
After this post we need 16 posts to get to page 3.
I'm listening to Donald's show right now and hearing John Cullum in On the 20th Century just makes me realize how much better that musical was than this current revival of the play 20th Century on Broadway now w/Baldwin & Heche. Cullum is magnificent
"On the Twentieth Century" really should have been revived. I've been listening to it a great deal lately, and the score is phenomenal.
There are a lot of Broadway stars who I love and think SHOULD be huge stars.
Women--
Bernadette Peters
Patti LuPone
Donna Murphy
Carolee Carmello
Kristin Chenoweth
Audra McDonald
Marin Mazzie
Rachel York (who I think is extremely underrated, and I hope Sly Fox helps to change that)
Emily Skinner
Julia Murney
Sutton Foster (amazing voice, but needs to work a little harder at being natural, as oxymoronic as that sounds).
Men--
Brian Stokes Mitchell
Brent Barrett
Brian D'Arcy James
Patrick Wilson (who seems to be heading for stardom very rapidly)
Norbert Leo Butz
Marc Kudisch
I think of the current crop of Broadway stars, Melissa Errico has the best chance of mainstream success. Not only does she have the looks, but she seems to have a very good idea of how to market herself, and she's already made forays into other media.
Good vibes to Jennygarde!
