Someone please explain Paris Hilton to me.

Or Nicki (or is it Nicky?) Hilton also.  What up?

Hey, if I keep this solo posting frenzy up, will I go blind?

Doubtful, but, I could end up in the top FIVE. . .

For that matter, can anyone really believe that Melanie Griffith was once an Academy Award nominee? ? ?

Can anyone really believe that Ali McGraw actually won an Academy Award?

Did she win it for directing a short?

I predicted every single film Golden Globe winner. Every single one, without exception, so I suspect the Oscars are going to be very predictable this year.

The TV side is usually more of a surprise, but even there the winners weren't impossible to predict (though I didn't get three of those).

I have FINALLY gotten my iPod to work, and I love it! The sound quality is amazing, and it has proven to be worth the wait (a month!).
How were your days? Everyone feeling OK?

Enjoy!

Yes, feeling fine and had a nice weekend.  Thanks. :)

Okay I really want to talk Golden Globes. But I guess I can talk about it without spoilers for tonight.

There was one tv award that made me very happy.

One thing that makes me mad is when a show/actor/actress  that I don't watch/never heard of wins.  I will comment more on this tomorrow.

Another disappointment is I like to see more of the fashion. I don't get Joan Rivers (although my sis does and called at 7pm to say she'd been watching an hour of it).  To see Nancy O'Dell interview is fine. But I would rather they just put up pictures of all the dresses (like they do on Entertainment tonight tomorrow).

I HATED Renee Zellweger's dress. I loved Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron. I wasn't sure at first about Sarah Jessica Parker's pouffy black dress. But it sort of grew on me. I thought all of the Sex & The City gang looked fabulous.

Yes, the annuls of all these award groups contain mediocre talents who sometimes got very lucky with one specific role and were rewarded. Looking back years later, those choices are kind of embarrassing

Well, I figured I'd tune in because I knew you'd all be talking about it - I HATE this show.  I've always hated this show.  It is the most useless of all award shows - who ARE the Hollywood Foreign Press?  It is meaningless.  This, of course, is simply my opinion.  And some of these outfits - and this endless ass-kissing of the Hollywood Foreign Press.  The fact that ANYONE in Hollywood takes these awards seriously (they didn't used to, and not all that long ago) is a sign of just how far the whole business of show has fallen.  Not as bad as The People's Choice Awards, though.

One thing I did like about the Golden Globes is the pace. The first major award started right away. And they really had a lot of good awards come up fairly quickly. And unlike the Oscars there are not too many extra categories.

It does annoy me though that they put supporting actors against mini-series actors. To me that is ridiculous.

Also, do not make us watch for 3 hours and then cut off the only interesting acceptance speeches.

Btw, my fav speech was Best Actess.

Oh, the GGs are a great big party. I'm not sure the people who win are grateful for anything more than putting their faces out there for more work and possible other award recognition, so it that regard, it has its place.

Did she have extensions in the back or something? She looked funny talking with Joan Rivers.  I didn't care for Sarah Jessica's cocktail dress, but the other three had lovely gowns.

But tell us how you REALLY feel.
As for who they are (I know it's a rhetorical question, but I'll answer anyway) - there are very few of them, I forget the number, and many (if not most) have day jobs which have nothing to do with the press, foreign or domestic.

I'm going to retire early tonight. I'm fighting a cold and MUST win. I have a big script meeting on Tuesday for which I have to have my wits about me and cannot - CAN NOT be sick. So g'night. (Unless I can't stay in bed - in which case I'll be back. How's that for waffling?)

Didn't she say in an interview recently that she hated the red hair and was going back to her natural color?

I don't hate THE SHOW itself, it's fun in a science fiction meets fact kinda way. . .i mean, really, Nicole Kidman presents an award and sounds like two words have never left her lips ? ? ?

Well, Bill Murray was funny.  Meryl Streep looks so dowdy it's not even funny.  Diane Keaton has done something to herself - she just doesn't look as Dianish as she used to.  Work done?  Nicole Kidman looks like a five hundred dollar hooker.  And most of the men look like they haven't bathed or washed their hair in weeks.

Seems silly to have the Globes awarded in the Pacific time zone but have the broadcast on tape delay.
I'm not sure what's worse, having events taking place in the Pacific time zone tape delayed, or having them broadcast at the same time but they have to take place three hours early just so the jerks on the east coast can see them when they want, rather than at a more natural time!

Oh, wait, I'm on the east coast now.  Oops!

I just caught an infomercial for THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW COLLECTOR'S EDITION, which packed more entertainment value into it than nearly any award show can, or does.

"Getting" Joan Rivers these days is a lot like "getting" Paris Hilton.  It is really worth the effort?
