We're in Austin...a day early.

Seems that the La Quinta Inn in Fredericksburg, TX, has different pet rules that all the other hotels in that chain.  They don't allow cats, and only let you have 1 dog.  [We have 2 dogs/1 cat.]

So, we had to drive an extra 2 hours to Austin, where we are staying at a La Quinta.

Go figure!

 >:(

We have found it best to confirm the pet rules.  Many hotels that say pets are ok have a weight limit of around 50 pounds, even La Quinta's.

I remember during one move smuggling 2 large dogs, 1 cat & 2 gerbils into a hotel. ;D

Homewood Suites was very pet friendly and even had liitle treats for the dogs!

Toby and Dylan probably wouldn't consider any place "pet friendly" unless there were treats.

When I moved back from AZ, I just didn't say I had a cat...I didn't say I didn't either.  We just took her in like it was nobody's business.

Malhereusement! Docks is dead. Out of business or closed for renovation, I don't know. But I do know that today there was no Docks! So we ended up at Sarabeth's kitchen, and it was quite delish, but I'm very unhappy to find my favorite seafood place closed.

So, a little LAW & ORDER: CI and then Masterpiece Tneatre and LITTLE DORRIT.

Back from CD delivery - and a very interesting conversation with the dealer about my upcoming potential titles, all of which he's very excited about.

I shall grab a sandwich and perhaps even eat it, and then I shall watch a motion picture on DVD.  The Kritzerland eBlast is ready to blast - I'm not sure I'll do what I did last time, i.e. send it out before I go to bed, as some people get up so early in the morning that the webgal won't have gotten the title live - so I'll probably blast in the morning.

Was that for your honeymoon?

;D  We only had three cats back then & we left them at home with DR Penny.

Toby an Dylan would like the Monoco in Portland.  The chef there makes delicious dog treats.  The rooms are also very nice.  In the lobby of the hotel is a chalk board with the names of all the dogs staying at the hotel.  Sometimes they have toys for the dogs.

Good news.  Do you have any more photos?  Green Heron's are so pretty.  This morning I wish we had our new camera already.  I could have taken a beautiful photo of a pair of geese in the pond.

Good Evening!

I always "hate" this point in the rehearsal process.  Everything is "there" and "not there" at the same time.  Consequently, even after spending an hour cleaning up one number, it feels like we've made no progress, but we actually have - we're just too tired to notice it.  -Does that make sense?  In any case...

We did have a good rehearsal. ;)

DR elmore - Docks closed at the end of February.  However, there is still a Docks in NYC - they opened a large (275-seat location) at Third Ave. & 40th St. at the end of last summer - which is part of the reason for the closing of the UWS location.

*And from some of the chatter on the food blogs, it appears that the owners turned most of their attention to their new East Side location, affecting the quality of the UWS branch.

Docks was only one of 27 restaurants in NYC that closed in March.  Alas, that was in addition to the 70+ that closed in January and February.  :-\

Welcome home, DR Druxy. When do you get to move into your new house?

We figure about 2 weeks.  Have to wait for the furniture to make the cross-country trip.

Uncle Jo Jo-

And Where Did You Eat for SUP-SUP?

Your Food reporting on the Road is Sorely Lacking.

At Least that's what I heard from The Zagat's Today.

;)

I have been "eating well" at a couple of restaurants: FIG, Boulevard Diners, Magnolias, Melvin's BBQ and Hominy Grill.  And when I haven't been eating out, I've also been "eating well": cereal, oatmeal, apples, celery sticks, carrots, yogurt, baked chicken, and brown rice. -And even though I haven't stepped on a scale, my jeans are still feeling and getting looser.

I probably would be eating out more here in Charleston if I wanted to have shrimp and grits, Frogmore stew, and fried oysters at every meal.  There are a lot of traditional Southern restaurants in town, both downhome and upscale.  Otherwise, there are a lot of chains here, and I really am trying to eat "local" as much as possible.  Additionally, no matter how nice the "fine dining" experience is at some places in town, I just don't feel like spending $30 for an entree of fried catfish filets.

As for tonight's sup-sup: We had another "pot luck" snack break in the middle of rehearsal: chips, dips, veggies, etc.

*Frankly, I could be very happy eating two or three times a week at FIG for the remainder of my stay here in Charleston.  Since the menu changes daily, there's always something new to try, and even after only two visits, I already feel like I've been treated like a regular.

LITTLE DORRIT continues to amaze, amuse, and move. What a bizarre assemblage of characters. The mystery of Mr Dorrit's incarceration continues and Mr Clennam's investigation into his family's crimes against Mr Dorrit continue. I recommend this highly.

DR Jose, Docks was a great Upper West Side location and I have no intention to schlep to 3rd and 40th for anything.
