Hooboy, DR Matt, I can't remember where you live, but definitely don't come to Portland with that song!  I have played that song countless times in auditions here.  Maybe it's a NW thing!

(Still doesn't come close to the auditions I had probably 20 or so years ago where every single one of the sopranos, and I mean every single one, auditioned with Memory, LOL).

It must be a NW thing because other than me, I've NEVER heard this song done at auditions where all the auditionees were in the same room to audition. (BTW, I'm in North Carolina.) I used it to get Alan in BABY but it didn't help when I lost Sipos in SHE LOVES ME to someone else.

As far as oversung songs here, the one I've heard more women use (and they're still using it) is "On My Own" from LES MIZ.

Tom does not know shame!
He's above shame!
that's why we like him here! ;) :D
I think I've become a character in "Kiss Of The Spider Woman".  Which is nothing to do with Blame the Shame on Mame or the Shame being on that soggy plain.
I've just had my breakfast but I am still not really awake.

Thank you François.

They're Playing Our Song was about Hamlisch and Bayer Sager's romance - pre Bacharach.

Forgot about Odds and Ends, which is great, and Everybody's Out of Town.  Is the Dusty/Burt album on CD???

I'm back from Sierra Madre with just a few treasures.  They include the fancy-shmancy big art book The Art of Howl's Moving Castle - I have the whole set of Miyazaki film art books.  Also go an advance copy of David Newman's score CD to The Brave Little Toaster.  Also, a home-grown subtitled/scope DVD of Attack of the Mushroom People.  And a CD of Monstrous Movie Music Volume Three, which has Creature from the Black Lagoon on it, along with a nice suite of Tarzan movie music.

"SongBooks" is on Cd BK.  Compilation of her Bacharach and Carole King work.  It was released as "Songbooks" on vinyl but has had more tracks added I think. 10 songs by Burt and 12 Goffin/King.
Maybe on import from the UK (Philips/Mercury - Polygram. Remastered tracks.

I'm listening to a very pretty score by Angelo Badalamente for something called A Very Long Engagement.  Is the film worth seeing?

Songbook appears to be out of print in the UK.  amazon US doesn't have it either, new or used.

BK, what is the Tarzan music from...which film...Who by?

Some of my favourite Burt Bacharach songs...

TOWER OF STRENGTH...sung by Gene McDaniels

LIBERTY VALANCE...sung by Gene Pitney

ANY DAY NOW...sung by Chuck Jackson

MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF...sung by Jerry Butler

TRUE LOVE NEVER RUNS SMOOTH...sung by Gene Pitney

24 HOURS FROM TULSA...sung by Gene Pitney

A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME...sung by Brook Benton

WIVES & LOVERS...sung by Jack Jones

WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT...sung by Tom Jones

JRand54, I have had an open invitation from my NBC exec to stop by and look at footage of shooting anytime.  I've declined to do so, because that is just courting frustration in that there is nothing I can do about it now.  I told him I'd wait until there was an assemblage of footage or a cut of the film.  I'm sure I'll also see it well before it's released.  I think it's contractually stipulated by WGA...I know it is in film; I don't know about TV.   Nonetheless, I sure both my NBC & Hallmark execs would want me to see it.

In the past I've always seen everything long before it's released.  Depending on directors or producers, I've usually seen dailies and rough cuts and even spent my time in the editing room, encouraged to dispense advice and suggestions.  Also at previews and test screenings.

YES, even though I found too much emphasis given to the visual elements while the story drags on at times!

... and Tautou is just too too in it! DR Jay could confirm that!
Just my 2 sous! :)

Looks like I finally have to break open the shrink wrap on the "Li'l Abner" CD to add the Overture to the iPod.  I noticed the BK's "The King and I" didn't have the complete overture, I'll have to go to iTunes and see if they have it!

Yep!  I went to Amazon.com, classical music and keyworded "mauceri hollywood bowl" and the recording came up with all their others.

They didn't use the complete Overture in the King and I I recorded - I'm always faithful to the actual production we're recording.

You can hear my parody of the exact way The King and I CD opens on Prime Time Musicals on the Come to the Supermarket In Old Peking cut.  One of my favorite little "arrangement" things.

I love the wintry view.  You and Keith should go make snow angels.

DRMatthew, I also found the recording on Half.com for a very reasonable price.  I think I will drag out all my Rodgers & Hammerstein scores and listen to the CD.

Dear Friend BK, I have an eMac and I can do this many things on it:

  1.  HHW
  2.  email
  3.  eBay
  4.  play DVDs
  5.  play CDs
  6.  burn CDs

If I could answer your question, I sure would.  I'm listening to JEEPERS CREEPERS; Jason's crooning his medley as I type.

Love Jason's track.

Pogue: It's a six-track five-minute something-or-other from Tarzan and His Mate, Tarzan Escapes, Tarzan Finds a Son, Tarzan's Secret Treasure and Tarzan's New York Adventure, music by Herbert Stothart, Sol Levy, William Axt, David Snell and Daniel Amfitheatrof.
