After finishing my work project viewing, I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. My boys were on (but only a little bit together). Oh, boy, this is heading for a BIG surprise once the paternity of Stacey's baby is finally revealed. I kind of dread it actually, but it'll prove how strong Kyle and Oliver are, especially if they have to become "dads."

I skimmed through ATWT, too, but there was nothing of interest. Of course, Luke did turn up in the previews for next week with the doctor that's supposedly going to become involved with him. Well, that's what I read somewhere.

Well, I must hop off-line so I can get some writing done on my work project. Then I'll head back downstairs for last night's second 30 ROCK episode, PROJECT RUNWAY, and that MENTALIST rerun before settling in with tonight's new primetime episodes of GHOST WHISPERER and MEDIUM.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Besides switching back and forth between WNYC and WQXR, the only other thing that comes to mind is the OCR of The Story of My Life... Which I happened to listen to on the subway... And, of course, by the time train reached 59th Street... And "Mrs. Remington" ended... I was crying.

Oh...

So I ended up going to see and hear the New Year Philharmonic earlier this afternoon.  They had a special 2:00 matinee, and they had tickets available for $20 in the Atrium.  I ended up with a great seat basically smack dab in the center of the orchestra - well, the seating section, not the actual orchestra.

It was a cool program.  The first half consisted of a Haydn symphony and John Adams' "The Wound Dresser" with baritone, Thomas Hampson, as the soloist.  The second half opened with Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony" and closed with Berg's "Three Pieces for Orchestra".  -I had never heard the Berg played live before, and, man-oh-man, was it LOUD.  -And I mean that in a good way!  And when that final sledgehammer fell - WOW!  -I liked it.  -And it also happened to wake up some of the members of the audience who had started to doze off. ;)

And since they had a special on tickets for the ballet tonight - "Romeo + Juliet" - only $10! -I'm heading back down to Lincoln Center in a little bit to meet some friends for dinner and dancing, so to speak. ;)

I think the film FANNY with Leslie Caron is better than the original musical on which it's based, but it was a lot of fun to hear the entire score at today's reading. The OBC is a real letdown. Rob Berman has my undying devotion for being both an easy-going musician and a conductor who never seems to stop making music. I've worked with some really fine conductors and some who only beat time, and Rob is at the top of my list. I do want to see the Encores! production very much.

So, I'm home. i just signed off on the Moross SHARKFIGHTERS score and i've got some work on Herbert and Kern tonight.

Does anyone want this ticket for tomorrow night's MAGIC FLUTE at Symphony Space?

I've been leery about giving to the Red Cross in emergency cases ever since 9/11 when the stories came out about them having money to burn and that they were giving funds to people to take their dogs to get massages.


I have not given one dime to the Red Cross since I found out that they bill people for the help that they give out.  What is the purpose of me donating money, if they are then going to collect it back from the victims?
