Did you PROJECT RUNWAY fans notice there are two (count 'em) Portland designers this time?  (Actually one's from Vancouver, WA, but that's just across the Columbia from Portland and as any Oregonian will tell you, it's "really" Oregon).  ;)

And one of the "Project Runway" contestants is a costume designer that I've worked with.  -Pardon my dangling participle.

Is anybody else planning to watch the new FOX show HUMAN TARGET?  I believe it premieres on Fox on sunday and starts on wednesday. The canadian channel that shows it is premiering it tonight instead of sunday. I have not really heard anything about it, although i've seen numerous promos.

I need to find out when they will start airing project runway here. Usually we are a month behind. But the channel here (slice) still has not put it up on their schedule. :(

My preferred spellings are schmutz or shmutz.

Interesting pastrami article.  I know which LOOKS better, and I'm sure, for me, the better looking one would win the taste test - Langer's.

I got up late again, but I've been going to bed way too late recently, which I'll stop as of tonight.

MattH - That's a very fine approach to take to watching the longer version of FAME.  I hope you're right.

i had a really rough night and feel bad i didn't leave the bedroom sooner, before i disturbed keith.  after he asked if i was ok i got up & left the room, did some stretches & then paced until i was exhausted. finally with a little help from the heating pad i was relaxed enough to fall asleep.

Oy!  But very glad you decided not to ignore the warning signs like so many do and be proactive about your health.

Well. if I really wanted to be proactive I probably should not have ignored total Cholesterol readings over 250 and Triglycerides over 300.

Yup...it's autographed by Stephanie J. Block (who played Liza Minnelli) and our very own Kevin Spirtas, who was Hugh Jackman's understudy...but never went on!

Yes, I plan to sample the show on Sunday. Well, I may not watch it on Sunday, but I plan to record the premiere and watch it when I can. I'm a BIG fan of Mark Valley, so I'll be interested to see what he's been up to since he left FRINGE.

I really pay no attention to where the designers from PROJECT RUNWAY are from at the beginning. There are too many of them, and their hometowns just don't register. When it gets down to the last five or six, then it starts to sink in.

While I was cooking lunch, I watched the first of last night's 30 ROCK episodes. This was one of the more hilarious ones for this season, where Liz outs her nephew and Jack tries to undo something he did on New Year's Eve to an old flame. Fun, funny show.

While I ate lunch, I watched last night's new episode of THE MENTALIST. Not as much occasion for Patrick to shine at the high school reunion, but the mystery fooled me, and I didn't guess who the murderer was. Really loved Rigsby in this week's episode.

Then I watched FAME. Just like the original, the drama is horribly fragmented and unsatisfying. There are eleven students we follow from auditions to graduation, and there just isn't enough time to give any of them more than a passing glance. (Frankly I was more interested in the faculty: Bebe Neuwirth, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, Charles Dutton; they do let Megan sing a solo at a karaoke bar - "You Took Advantage of Me"). Of the students, I was most impressed with the big voiced Naturi Naughton who does the old "Out Here on My Own" proud. All of the new songs composed for the film are forgettable, and, of course, there is far more hip-hop/rap than I would like (though I understand why it's there: to help the film appeal to the widest possible audience.)

Even in HD, it looks really drab. So, not recommended.

There weren't a great number of bonus features, but I watched them all. The eleven young stars each talk a little about his or her career up to this point and how GREAT it is to be doing a movie. There's a brief featurette on the dance boot camp the dancers in the film had to attend to learn the numbers. And the usual deleted scenes.
