Well, I'm back, and very sad to see the dearth of postings.  The DEARTH of postings.  Of course, what's here is cherce, so that's nice.  But I'm afraid there will be a LOT of bitch-slapping going on when the errant and truant come waltzing back in.

We'll have to play catch up or at least ketchup tomorrow for our annual Oscar batch.

Do we get to hear how the commie movie was?

The only movie I saw today was a pretty odd one from 1960 called DINOSAURUS. Some dinosaurs and a caveman were unfrozen off this Caribbean island, which isn't that odd a plot for a sci-fi film of that era, but there was a real oddness of tone. The caveman was played totally for laughs, even recreating the Marx Brothers mirror scene with his reflection in a mirror. The villain was really funny, and yet convincingly evil. The people end up beating the tar out of the dinos with construction equipment.

Sometimes HBO will dust off something strange like this instead of showing FALLING DOWN for the one millionth time.

I need to get that BETTIE BOOP collection for myself. I went to a BETTIE BOOP store a couple months back in Gilroy, and everything in this store was Bettie Boop merchandise, T-Shirts, phones, fiberglass statues... so I think, hmm... could they have DVDs of actual cartoons? I ask the guy and he looks at me like I'm crazy. Like he didn't know there WERE actual cartoons connected to this merchandise bonanza!

Anyways, there used to be a VHS of some of the best and I remember one where Cab Calloway sings "St. James Infirmary Blues" and it is just an incredibly animated and menacing cartoon. That skinny Pagliaci-type friend of Bettie's is singing and walking through this hellhole where dead bodies and skeletons are littering the background. It was mind-blowing. To me, the Fleischer animation is the most alive and fun.

Nauseating, ain't it?

The commie movie was fun - more about it in the notes, which I'll write now.

BLATHER!

I had to go out and get a little baggie of Grandma's Peanut Butter cookies.  They weren't so hot.

Good evening!

Well... I ended up heading over to my friend's new place.  Bob was taking more measurements, and started putting his bathroom stuff together.  Bob is Steve's current apartment-mate, and since Steve just bought a new condo, Bob needed to get a new place, so...  It's actually just a few blocks over from me, so I walked over.

After futzing around there, we ended up stopping into the "bar" for about an hour or so.  It was fun, if a bit too smoky.

And now I'm back here reading and posting.

Exciting, huh?

I usually prefer Grandma's Sugar Cookies, or the Iced Lemon.  And the Oatmeal Raisin ones are great after about 10 seconds in the microwave.

I have Zoo animal crackers I had shipped to me and Ginger jump-ups from Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor.

Jose I always considered myself a bit obsessed with food from my travels, but next to you I’m an amateur.   ;D

<blush>

Zoo animal crackers?  You have to have them shipped to you?  Are these the one in the Barnum & Bailey boxes?  Or are these the ones that come in the large plastic bags?

Jose has been sitting there like so much fish for ten minutes.  He could have made ten posts in that time.
