Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fully unexpurgated, and now it is time for you to post until the fully unexpurgated cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EUDEMONIC!
-
First post after BK.
-
So, jan, do you play cards, dice, or slots?
-
One of the main things I haven’t located, since the move, is my copy of MURDER AT THE MAGIC CASTLE.
-
Well, I guess I had better turn in.
-
One of the main things I haven’t located, since the move, is my copy of MURDER AT THE MAGIC CASTLE.
Oh, no! Hopefully, you can find it.
-
I can't find my copy of Kurt Weill Revisited. :-\
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
I'll get in bed in thirty minutes.
-
I just will. Cooling down the home environment at the moment, which happens very quickly.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Listening to more Lorna Doone. I’m up to chapter 60 of 75. It will end soon.
-
In six or seven hours.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Annabelle is eating again, so that's a Big Relief.
-
I have no plans today, so I'll tidy up, pull some books, and have a quiet day.
-
My cousin Sue Ellen, who's a published poet, sent me some good criticism on the Annabelle-Thatch stories, and I have some thinking to do about one chapter.
-
I am glad you found someone to do that.
-
DR TCB,, I am sorry about your neck.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It might be a Friday, but I have nothing to say for it.
-
I will say that this WIZARD OF OZ -- now made up, costumed, miked, lit, and all that good stuff -- isn't as bad as I'd thought it was going to be. Which sounds like faint praise, and I guess it is. But it will sell well, and for their $25 per head, The People will enjoy it.
-
In 1980, my friend Jim Roman, with whom I'd acted in dinner theatre, told me to stop being idle and come help with the newly-formed New York Gay Community Band. When I said I played piano, not a band instrument, he said I would be the editor of their newsletter, and so I was for a year. As my choral and vocal arranging picked up, I left the band.
Jim posted this photo on Facebook this morning. I have no memory of it, but I'm guessing this is from the June 1980 Pride parade. I'm on the left holding a flag.
-
Elmore, I hope to start reading this weekend.
-
Nice pic & memories DR elmore.
-
Friday morning greetings! I'm about to leave to have lunch with a new group that includes my friend and former co-worker Sue. After lunch, I have several Dayton-area errands to do on my way home.
-
The chapter revision went rather easily. I'm ready for a nap.
-
The Epstein deal did him in. Acosta has resigned. So much for all the "better people" Tramp keeps appointing.
-
And so we opened.....
-
And got to Page Two.
-
We had about 3/4's of a house.....and the laughter started at the beginning and continued for the rest of the night.
I was most popular with the populace particularly in the second act when I come in and clean up the mess that George and Arnold have created....
And my clothes of course got much comment...... More chicanery and shenanigans last night. I locked the front door.....helped with the cleaning and started to leave....checked the front door and someone had UNLOCKED it so they could get back in.....
-
Great picture, DR Elmore. The flag bearer!
-
Elmore, I hope to start reading this weekend.
I would say same here, but I think mine will have to be a few days beyond that. Soon!
-
Congratulations on your interesting opening night, DR Jrand68!
-
Great news about your opening, JRand. Congratulations!
-
My cousin Sue Ellen, who's a published poet, sent me some good criticism on the Annabelle-Thatch stories, and I have some thinking to do about one chapter.
That's great!

That's really cool, Larry!

Elmore, I hope to start reading this weekend.
I made a PDF and put it on my Kindle. I've read the first two chapters, and am enjoying it. :)

I remember reading years ago, "Bad community theater is better than no community theater." Even when I've been in stinkers (fortunately, a rare occurrence), I've certainly enjoyed the process...but of course, that doesn't matter to the audience. ;)

The Epstein deal did him in. Acosta has resigned. So much for all the "better people" Tramp keeps appointing.
But sadly, look what it took for him to get to the point to resign. :-\

I'm up, I'm up - six-and-a-half hours of sleep, thanks to really loud yakking and stuff from next door. Perhaps time to have a chat with them.

Whoa! Evidently, a 4.6 earthquake shakes Seattle region overnight (https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/magnitude-4-4-earthquake-shakes-seattle-overnight/)! :o
I didn't feel anything here in Tumwater.

Nice photo DR ELMORE.

Enjoy the Emerald City DR CHAS SMITH.

Just coffee, thanks.

Nice photo DR ELMORE.
DR JRand68, one more event in my life I have no memory of!
I've been wanting to ask you about the Doris Day movie of SEND ME NO FLOWERS. Is it close to the play?

The 6th person in from the left, second row, nearly in profile and holding a saxophone is my friend Ken Goralski, whom I've not seen in over twenty years. In 1980 he was having housing issues and I offered him my apartment while I went to Ohio to visit family for Christmas. I returned on Jan. 2 and Ken stayed on as my roommate till July or August, when he left New York to go to grad school at Stamford. He was such a good friend. I hope he's well.
-
In that same row, there is a lady who acted as a pimp for one of the more exclusive male escort services in the City. She recruited several members of the band to work as escorts. They were all embroiled in a huge Brinks truck robbery and a gay porn film Centurions of Rome. The rumor is that the costumer for the film was a dresser at the Metropolitan Opera and all the Roman soldier uniforms came from the Met's production of Bellini's Norma.
Life was never dull in the 1980s!
-
Good afternoon.
-
Back from a chili, cheese, and onion hog dog and a side Caesar salad, both excellent. I broke GEE down into five sections per part, each about twenty-two or twenty-three pages long, so that's done.
-
When I got home I called ACX and got everything up and ready, got the specs, uploaded the correct cover (they have their own specs), so as long as the studio gives me exactly what I need, there should be no issues at all, and since I'll be there when it's being done I'll be proofing as we go, so that step has been taken out of the process.

Congrats to Jrand on a successful opening night.

Can you find a way of including the name of the dish in the article? :)

Bruce, how will someone access the two new audio books? Online only or CD or ??

Today was Erik Day. I saw my therapist, then went across the street to my favorite food store. One almond croissant left! I grabbed it and it is now no more.
-
I'm ready for a nap. In fact, I keep pulling a Vixmom and dozing off.
-
TOD:
Possibly MARY POPPINS RETURNS. It's now available on Netflix streaming.
-
I have no other news.
-
TTFN.
-
Jeanne, online only as far as I know. Wouldn't really be a point to do CD and it would probably take almost five CDs to do it.
-
Good afternoon.
He's walking?!!!!!
-
I have not gotten back to my routine since I am home
-
I will try and be here more
-
Yesterday was my Mom's 87th birthday
-
She chose to spend it having dinner with a friend
-
Vixdad and I will be taking her to a fine brunch on Sunday. My brother and his wife will join us
-
Tomorrow Vixdad and I will be heading out to Wardenclyffe on the east end of Long Island , the site of Tesla's laboratory for a Teslacelebration

Happy 87th birthday to your mother.

I chose it but it is a local favorite that my mom quite likes

I hope she enjoys the restaurant & it isn't too noisy for her. Fingers crossed the other two don't complain about it ;)

Ditto and Ditto!

Will it through a service where it's actually be downloadable, or something like Amazon's Audible (which I don't subscribe to)?
-
four!!
-
And on that note (F#), I'm outta here.
Until later.
-
I hope she enjoys the restaurant & it isn't too noisy for her. Fingers crossed the other two don't complain about it ;)
It's a favorite brunch spot for all of us
-
Although, quite unfortunately, they seemed to have removed our favorite item from their brunch menu
-
It seems they have stopped serving
Haircut with Korean radish in a spicy sauce.
-
Happy birthday to Vixmommom!

Haircut with Korean radish in a spicy sauce.
Only special places serve that.
-
A co-worker of mine said he preferred his haircut with ranch dressing.
My response was: Of course. You're a Texan.
-
Back to Black Narcissus. Much more powerful than I remember it being.
-
Got bit by the bugs tonight when I went out to water.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Hi, Jan!
-
Hi, John! Are we dancing or baking tonight?
-
Neither. I had a nice dinner with friends. Excellent Thai food.
-
My dance instructor Joy has bone spurs in her neck. It's painful for her to dance. So, she wants to take a couple of days off. Gives me a chance to do a few more things.
-
And what are you up to tonight?
-
What's your favorite Thai food?
-
Up to about 5' 4". You?
-
Up to about 5' 4". You?
5' 9"
-
What's your favorite Thai food?
The whole lot. Tonight I had a spicy stir-fry with pork, red and green bell peppers, onions, basil and a crazy good broth with plenty of black pepper and chili pepper in it.
-
When I lived in Florida, I became friends with a family who owned a Thai restaurant. They helped educate me to the nuances of Thai food. Both Sam and Nancy could cook Thai food, and their styles were different. So, it was always nice to find out who was going to be in the kitchen that night.
Sam came to America first, and he worked in South Beach where he was introduced to stone crab claws. He incorporated them into his Thai food when they were in season. Stone crab basil, stone crab green curry and red curry. Those may be my all-time favorites.
-
Nancy also made these incredible rice flour donuts that were served straight out of the fryer with a glaze and crushed peanuts. That was perfection on another level.
-
Love Black Narcissus, novel and film.
-
Finished with my viewing and now listening to Bernard Herrmann's The Night Digger.
-
The donuts sounds amazing. I'm not big on spicy. My s-i-l is from Thailand so she watches what I'm served. If it's a spicy dish, she says "no, Jan, that's not for you." My absolute favorite is Pad Thai. If my s-i-l is coming to see me, she has her sister make some to bring out to me.
-

I was going to ask if anyone had read anything by Rumer Godden. I have one of her novels, but I haven't read it yet. I'll need to find it.
I'm getting ready to watch The River because it's also Godden.

Yes, Thai food can get awfully spicy. I try to remember that if we're eating family style and sharing dishes. But tonight, it was all mine and at just the right level of burn.
-

:D
-
The closest I've come to Thai food is the Thai chicken pizza at California pizza
-
I would venture a guess it's not authentic Thai cuisine
-
I am not a particularly adventurous eater
-
Watching the extras to The River first. In a documentary on the making of the movie, it says that Rumer Godden hated the movie of Black Narcissus to the point that she wasn't going to sell any of her other books to the movies. Renoir won her over and worked with her on the script.
-
Or a partularly vociferous eater either
-
Although my figure would seem to contradict that last statement
-
I don't believe I have ever seen Black Narcissus
-
I am not a particularly adventurous eater
Why not?
-
Hey, Vixmom, is it hard to believe the wedding is already in the past and that you're back to reality?
-
Finishing off the day with the original Getz/Gilberto album. What magnificent music.
-
Good night, all.
-
Welcome home, vixmom!
-
Jrand, do you think that director's listing was intentional or just clueless?
-
There's a story that Lehman Engel had loved :Lauren Bacall in "Applause" but thought "Woman of the Year" was a waste of her time, and he is rumored to have worried about the right thing to say while not lying, then over-effusively gushed "Betty, whatever they're paying you, it's not enough."
-
Sondheim is said to have told the young Jason Robert Brown that on the night of the show, you say everything is wonderful even if it's not - no notes on fixing the show unless asked for them another day.
-
Think I'll take a hot shower in about ten minutes, then write some notes, then try to get to sleep by twelve-thirty.
-
We watched CORNER GAS: THE MOVIE.
-
Although, quite unfortunately, they seemed to have removed our favorite item from their brunch menu
I hate when that happens.

Pad see ew with tofu, not spicey.

Speaking of eating.......How long after your chemo treatments did it take for your taste buds to return?
-
I am not a particularly adventurous eater
I'm not, either...at all. :P
-
I dozed off.

Good evening.
-
Happy Birthday to vixmom’s mom.
-

More than a year...I never got them back completely. Many things have to be strongly seasoned for me to taste them. Some things still taste "wrong" like imitation version of the food.
-
The older I get, the less adventurous I get with my eating habits.
-
Hey, Vixmom, is it hard to believe the wedding is already in the past and that you're back to reality?
It is!we won't have the photographer photos for about a ,onthbut he sent us the unedited video and people have been sending their photos so we have been having fun with those
-
I am not a particularly adventurous eater
Why not?
Some things just turn me off so I can't even try them , I never had a "refined palate" and I don't expect to develop one in my dotage
-
Welcome home, vixmom!
THANK YOU
-
It's like ridiculous o'clock...I am taking myself to bed
-
Goodnight
-
Sleep well, Vixmominlaw.
-
Good night, Vixmom.
-
Hi, Tom and jan.
-
Hi, George.
-
Hi, jan.
-
Hey, Brother George! What's shakin'?
-
Hey, Brother Tom! How are you feeling today?
-
I can’t believe I just watched a rerun of a Stephen Colbert monologue, and I laughed just as hard the second time.
-
Hey, Brother Tom! How are you feeling today?
My neck is getting worse.
