Well, you've read the notes, the notes weren't worth beans, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating some frijoles and doing the MOOxican Hat Dance.
-
And the word of the day is: PROROGUE!
-
Tonight, I'm ushering for a tour of Menopause the Musical (http://wcpa.squarespace.com/upcoming-events/2011/3/24/menopause-the-musical.html)! Several women from work are going. It sounds like fun...from a theatrical point of view. As for the topic, I have absolutely no interest, whatsoever.
;)
-
And now, to sleep.
-
Good morning, all! Around 3:30, I started to worry about the 5 am alarm, so I got up, took care of some emails pertaining to the Herbert recordings, and I'm ready for my third cup of coffee. I plan to leave here around 6:15 for Penn Station. My train should arrive in DC around 10:30 or so.
After the LoC closes, I will have dinner with my friend Loras before I board the return train. I hope that I can locate everything I need tofay. One of the librarians has totally screwed up the enormous Herbert collection and the LoC is dragging its feet to correct this fool's mess, which is ridiculous, especially since the head of the Music Division has asured me twice now that it will be corrected. Well, I'm still waiting.
-
So, that's my day. I have no idea what's on my playlist except for the VCR.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I just got an e-mail from Dell. The new desktop has shipped from El Paso, TX and is scheduled to arrive (in 3 boxes, monitor, CPU and speakers) on Wednesday, March 30th. I have my next weekend planned for me.
-
Good morning, DR Ben! I'm about ready to head for DC.
I had two eggs fried in olive oil for breakfast, and I'll pick up a snack for the train at Penn Station. I may not get lunch so a snack around Baltimore should be good.
-
Travel vibes to elmore
-
Desktop vibes to Ben
-
All alone, as Irving Berlin might say.

I have one final Doctor appointment this afternoon and then the ordeal with the appendix is over. I last saw him (the doctor) on February 25 for an all clear and he wanted to see me one more time after a month to see if all is well. It is and I'm happy and I'm sure the doctor will be as well.
I then must see my Primary Care Physician to fill him in on what has happened and how it all went.
-
I'm not sure if I'm alone or not. Fred's light is lit but it says at the top that I'm the only one here.
And so, I'll leave.
Bye for now.
-
Doctor visit vibes for DR BEN
-
Thoughts and prayers for Pearl, aunt of DR LAURA.
-
Friday is a work day. Ugh.
Vickie who sent out all of the invitations, yesterday sent out a follow-up card with a NEW email address for RSVP responses. We shall see how it goes.
-
I was in the Indianapolis premiere of Lanford Wilson's MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM, which is an interesting play......but it was not a pleasant experience.
We played for 13 weekends......a revival....several benefit performances....and then took the play to Ireland for a Theatre Festival......I couldn't get away from it! :P
That's me up in the "recording booth."
-
TOD:
DVD - episodes of SIR LANCELOT with William Russell
CD - Ordeal by Innocence, most entertaining
-
Um....
DR JRand - Ma Rainey's Black Bottom was written by August Wilson...
-
Oh...
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm still in Chicago. :)
-
*And today's projected High is 37 degrees. Possibly 38. At least it's not supposed to rain.
-
~~~~~APPROPRIATE VIBES TO THE APPROPRIATE DRS~~~~~
-
And now I need to get ready to head to The Loop.
Laters...
-
Off to work. Oh well.
Ben - Maybe it was while I was reading the notes? Do our lights stay on while we're in the notes screen but not in the discussion screen??
I guess they do.
Vibes to Pearl!
You can be looking at the index page or reading a personal message or reading another day's notes and your light will be on.
-
I recall seeing Huston's THE BIBLE when it first came out at a Director's Guild screening.
I left during the Intermission.
-
TOD:
Hopefully, my copy of THE PROWLER will arrive today.
-
I heard THE BIBLE never went into Prophets.
Ba-dum-bum!
-
Friday morning greetings! I have a haircut scheduled for today and some errands to do afterward.
-
What lights?
-
And while we're at it-- such watch.
-
DR Jrand, did you pick up Sir Lancelot at BIG LOTS? I noticed they had that set, plus a few other 1950s British TV action series for cheap.
-
DR Laura,
I am looking very forward to DR Sandra's Kitchen Countertop video. She and Charles Phoenix should work together, they would make a very funny pair.
-
DR Jane, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Sherlock's brother. :'(
-
DR Ben, many vibes for the "all clear!"
-
TOD media check:
DVD:
Episodes of the 1950s tv show THE SILENT SERVICE, which eventually became NAVY LOG. Not a terribly interesting show, for me, but some interesting actors show up in it.
DVR:
Last night's OUTSOURCED and THE OFFICE
CD:
The new CD by Debi Makhsoospuri and a CD of Hindu devotional songs titled SHREE SAMPOORNA HUNUMAN CHALISA
-
I recall seeing Huston's THE BIBLE when it first came out at a Director's Guild screening.
I left during the Intermission.
Well, rats! Now you don't know how it ended.
:D
-
DR Jane, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Sherlock's brother. :'(
I don't suppose there is any chance that Sherlock's brother had been named "Mycroft"?
-
What lights?
The green light under your name and stars (top left)....when your "online", the green is bright (like it's lit up). When you are "offline", it's dimmed (like it has been turned off).
This is really not meant to be a sales pitch; more of a FYI:
In 2004, I co-authored a non-fiction book with a gentleman named Warren Hull (no relation to the late actor), entitled FAMILY SECRET.
In it, we not only revealed the name of the real killer of mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, but we also detailed much of Los Angeles' scandalous political history. Once of the key players, in fact, is Howard Hughes.
In any event, certain people were not happy with the contents of this book, and now they have made Hull and me an offer to buy the copyright, so they can bury it.
Even though this is more Hull's book than mine, my heart is saying "No," but my head is saying: "Don't be a schmuck. Take the deal."
If this deal does go through, the book will, in all likelihood, disappear from Amazon and every other new bookseller's listings within 30 days.
So, if you're interested, this may be your last chance to get a copy:
http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Warren-Robert-Hull/dp/1587363801/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301064172&sr=1-3
-
Unless the book is still making you money, I say sell the copyright and take the money.
-
Unless the book is still making you money, I say sell the copyright and take the money.
That's what my head is telling me.
-
DR Druxy, are "certain people" going to track down all the library and privately-owned copies, too?
-
They would just be selling the copyright -- not buying up existing copies.
-
Yes, DR Druxy, take the money and run. And then write another book about this cover-up.
-
DR Druxy, are "certain people" going to track down all the library and privately-owned copies, too?
I don't think so.
On the other hand, you might want to hide your copy in a safe place.
::)
-
I vaguely remember being interested in THE BIBLE movie because the TV commercials alluded to there being nudity in the Adam & Eve part of the story.
-
Hmmm...I guess that e-mail I got weeks ago about THE BOOK OF MORMON was right.
-
MEdia Check:
iPod: Green Day -- What The F@CK!
Tivo: POCKET FULL OF MIRACLES
DVD: FRINGE, Season One
-
I'm up, lunch has been cancelled for today and pushed to next week. It took me a long time to fall asleep last night.
-
DR Jane, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Sherlock's brother. :'(
Ditto. :(
Take the money. But if the book's been out since 2004, what do they really expect to cover up?? There may not be a lot of copies out there, but they're out there.
But buy some copies first and sell them as "out of print and no longer available" at a much higher price. ;)
PAGE 3 DANCE!!
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Vibes for DR laura's Aunt Pearl. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DR Jane so sorry to read about Sherlock's brother.
-
Dang. I was walking home from the grocery store with my heavy bag when the Google Earth Street View car drove by.
-
Long night, no sleep. Got started on a project I've put off for years in the wee hours of the morning. I hope I don't lose interest. And I hope it doesn't keep me up any more nights.
-
TOD:
DVD -- Downton Abbey, RED
Car CD -- The new John Lescroart novel, the name of which escapes me.
CD -- Any musical from 1959.
-
From Ginny:
Mom thought she wanted a motorized scooter, but her apartment is small and it would take up a lot of room. She does have a walker with wheels that helps a lot. There are places to sit down along the way, too.
Thank goodness for places to sit. :)
-
Laura vibes and/or prayers for Aunt Pearl who turned 106 last month!!!
How is she doing today?
-
DR Vixmom thank you for the song.
We had snow this morning but Craig got out of here just fine, and Yogi didn't cry when he left. For some reason I was thinking he had three flights to get to Phoenix. It is only one flight and a very long layover in Portland. I suppose a long layover is better than an extra flight. Either way it takes all day to go from here to Phoenix.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show last night.:)
-
From DR Jose:
DR Jane - Since I will be down near the Chicago French Market tomorrow, I shall have to give Vanille Patisserie a try.
I hope as I continue to read I will find a full food report. I hope you liked what you ate as much as I enjoyed my selection.
-
I'm too tired to post anything.
-
Oh, i guess i posted that.
-
Sutton Foster sings two numbers from "Anything Goes." Don't care for the choreography for the title number, at least toward the end when Foster stands with her back to the audience while the chorus keeps dancing and singing. Seems like dead weight at dead center.
But the singing is really solid. The Cole Porter songs sound wonderful. And the bird was really getting into both, dancing up a storm.
Cilla I'm glad they did the right thing and extended the pass until the end of April. :)
Thank you regarding Sherlock's brother. We received an email back from his person who said the report is more certain of what didn’t cause his death than what did, just that it was acute necrosis” of the liver. It is very rare. Had they caught it early chances of survival would still have been slim. I guess that is his only comfort. The not knowing would haunt Keith & me.
I wonder how much of the choreography they had to modify because they're in such a small performance space.
-
From DR Vixmom:
sounds like a perfect appetizer before an entree of floop
LOL!!! I think both would be equally delicious. ;)
Thank you for you condolences.
Aunt Pearl is in Indiana. My DH will get an update when he calls his mom on Saturday.
And thank you DR Jose.
LOL. We were originally going to name Sherlock that only very few people knew who Mycroft was. I think Sherlock fits him, at least half the people who hear his name say so.
-
Thank you DR George.
Even though it was snowing this morning Craig took Yogi for a walk this morning. After it stopped snowing I took Sherlock for one. I think Keith will join me this afternoon so we can walk them together. I get kind of bored going up & down our road & out to the main road one dog at a time.
-
Bruce that last post was just for you since it has been quiet here.
-
Starting "Downtown Abbey." I'm really going to enjoy this.
-
And now ...
-
Page four!
-
Back from a spot of lunch and picking up only one package and no important envelope, which will hopefully be here tomorrow.
-
Back from taking the pooches for a short walk. While short the return trip is all uphill.
-
One post in two hours. This will not DO.
-
I just finished eating dinner, before Keith feeds Sherlock & I have to take Yogi into his bedroom while Sherlock eats. I'll feed Yogi & Kitty around 7:00.
-
Whaddyaknow -- one of my neighbors is the Big Pooh-Bah of the Animal-Themed-Service-Club-That-is-Really-a-Bar. I think the beer truck problem may be solved shortly.
-
I think we've got a beer truck problem right here and if we aren't on page five soon the problem will be a lot bigger than a beer truck, if you get my meaning and I know the errant and truant do.
-
Well, I'm off to the theater to usher for Menopause! The Musical! My friend Margo ushered last night and said that there were over 450 people in the audience...and only about 20 guys! We'll see what it's like tonight. ;)
Until later!
-
And since we're so close...
-
Gratuitous Post #100!!
(how's that, BK? :D)
Ugh, I've been working on my part of our tax info and have come to the conclusion that I'm the most disorganized person on the planet when it comes to paperwork. Time to learn to use the spreadsheet program on my computer!
-
I've found it very helpful, Ginny, to not have anything. Makes the taxes much easier.
-
Speaking of taxes, it dawned on me today that they're due in three weeks and I haven't even looked at any paperwork.
-
I toss all our stuff into the tax basket as it comes.
-
a post to get us to 5
Whaddyaknow -- one of my neighbors is the Big Pooh-Bah of the Animal-Themed-Service-Club-That-is-Really-a-Bar. I think the beer truck problem may be solved shortly.
VIBES IT IS!!!!
-
I'm lucky Keith uses Turbo Tax and has it all on the computer.
-
I am getting irked, oh, yes, I am getting irked - page four will NOT do, oh, no, page four will NOT do.
-
I've been having allergy problems for the last five hours.
-
No wonder you are grumpy ;)
-
DR Jane, you will probably find this funny. When I went to the library today with my photocopied book requests I told the lady at the front desk what had happened on Monday. She said that she has told the lady MANY times that people have complained about their slips being lost. So it isn't only me!
She also said I could contact the director of the library. But I'm unsure if she meant to 1) comment on what the lady said to me or 2) what i think is more likely - to comment about how many slips are getting lost.
-
Oy! It's bewen a long long day. Everything went well at the Library of Congress. I spent around $50 on photocopies of scores and libretto. I had a lovely Mexican dinner with margaritas with my friend Loras when the LoC closed. And Amtrak had some screw up, New York trains were held up, and I stood in an endless line for 45 minutes to board a sold out train. They cla it was "motor problems" but there were a lot of police and dogs, so who the hell knows what was really going on? I am now home and exhausted.
-
Hi everyone... just stopping in for a second to pass on that the DP and I are no more. His decision, not mine. Like Elmore says, you'll have to wait for the memoirs.
-
I'm so sorry, Matthew.
(((Matthew)))
-
Hi everyone... just stopping in for a second to pass on that the DP and I are no more. His decision, not mine. Like Elmore says, you'll have to wait for the memoirs.
DR Matthew, I am so sorry to hear this! Are you okay?
-
Vibes of strength to Matthew.
-
DR Matthew, I am so very sorry. Please take care.
-
Page 4???? What is this
-
Seriously
-
DR Matthew, so sorry, hope you're ok
-
Well, at least we're on page 5
-
I had a good day
-
I heard that the government cut the check I've been waiting for. Haven't seen it yet, but this is a step in the right direction
-
Tonight I learned how to do a Bon Odori dance. It was fun. We'll be doing it at the multicultural fair on Sunday.
-
My friend from Japan is very very concerned about the radiation there.
-
Her family isn't near the quake, but her sister said they can't dring the water where she is, but her father can drink the water
-
((((Matthew)))))
-
Her husband is still in Japan, she said he is the only one she knows that is all optimistic about things.
-
I never noticed we had lights
I guess my light was on but I wasn't home
-
The dance will be fun, though.
-
We are wearing japanese robes...not really kimonos, and will wear black pants with them
-
Tonight was day 2 of 3 for The Wedding Singer
the kids were really ON tonight and the audience was laughing and clapping along
-
We'll do the dance once and then have the audience join in.
-
There is also a more elaborate dance that the girl scouts will be doing
-
The lights are in the little computer where it says "online"...well at least when you're online
-
Lets see. there were 5 of us dancing tonight and 6 at dinner. We went to Applebee's.
-
After dinner we had peach ice cream at Mia's house. Mine had a huge peach in it
-
IT was frozen hard and a bit difficult to cut up and eat...but I managed
-
Mia then gave each of us something to take home.
-
She gave me home made apricot sauce.
-
after the show the entire cast and crew went to Friendly's to celebrate
I drove a vanful over. They joined teh crowd in the rear of teh store and so as not to cramp anyone's style I sat in the front booth and had a late dinner and read my latest yard sale find book --- Olivia Kitteridge --
-
Oh, and she made some wonderful mini turkey burgers as an appetizer. It had ground turkey, peas, onion, ginger, egg and I'm not sure what else. She cooked them, then heated teriaki sauce and put them back in the pan for a minute or less. they were fabulous
-
You're a good sport Vixmom
-
Would love to see Vixter in The Wedding Singer.
-
Vibes and hugs to DR Matthew...
-
I'm really trying to get us to the next page
-
My friend Martha drove me over. Her deaf jack russell terrier sat on my lap
-
i went to Friendlys intending to get something off the under 555 menu - the chicken apple salad.... but today was a particularly crazy day at work and the honey barbequed chicken sandwich with bacon on grilled bread was calling my name - and I answered the call
-
Her dog and Mia's dog are friends. They wrestled and growled the whole time we were there. I find that annoying
-
Odie is deaf but he is definitely not mute
-
so now that I have consumed enough calories to nourish a small nation for a week I shall sit hit and watch my pjs get too tight
-
Hey! Look, we're on page 6
-
Richard taught me earlier today to use the spreadsheet program that we have on our computers in order to organize last year's medical expenses for our taxes. I've spent the evening practicing by creating an inventory of - wait for it - my Vera Bradley collection.
Oh, and we watched that wild basketball game between Ohio State and Kentucky.
-
Yum Vixmom!
-
Everyone had salads at dinner, I had a steak and a baked potato. It was divine
-
Now I'm going to bed to rest up for tomorrow. We're going to an antique appraisal event sponsored by the historical society in the morning and a pops concert at Miami University in the afternoon.
'night!
-
Now that I know I may have the funds to pay my taxes, I'm planning to get all my stuff together tomorrow afternoon and bring it home where I can do the turbo tax thing.
-
Sounds fun Ginny!
-
I need to get some sleep. I have training in the morning for volunteers at the public museum. It's a huge brand new facility so they are conducting training for all the new volunteers. I can't wait to see everythign there. I love working in museums
-
Night....page 6 looks a lot better than page 4
-
More Vibes to DR Matthew~~~~~
Welcome nine GUESTS. Here is a thought: Nine GUESTS, no regulars - what's wrong with this picture?
