And we just passed Gary, IN, so we should be arriving in Chicago in about 30 minutes, just 20-ish minutes late.

If you are at the train station there is a wonderful bakery amongst the shops.  It is the second location for the bakery Bryan got his wedding desserts from, all of which came from the entremets menu.  The were so incredibly delicious I had to make a trip to the bakery last time I was in Chicago.  My favorite was a chocolate cake I can't recall the name of.  Fortunately Bryan & Kate told me what to get before I went there.

DR Jane - Since I will be down near the Chicago French Market tomorrow, I shall have to give Vanille Patisserie a try. :)

we shall expect a photo tour , sirrah!

DR vixmom - I'm guessing DR the vixter is going to have "fun" during photo-call. ;)

I am very sad to say they do not take photos of the kids in costume

WHAT?!?!? No photo-call?!?!?

-Although, I guess that does prevent the very long post-show, late-night "tradition". :-/

Those leopard-spotted leggings were fabulous, by the way.

I thought of you as soon as "George " came out in them

Am braising oxtails for dinner. Have never made this before, and it's rather disgusting. But the flavor has always haunted me. Definitely in my top five favorite dishes. I just may have to leave the cooking of it up to others, though.

Well... Aren't most oxtail recipes "set it and forget it"? -At least after you set up the braise.

Paul and I went to CEDAR RAPIDS  (the movie) tonight.  The jokes are pretty crude and it could be offensive to some people, but we laughed and laughed and laughed.   And, we were the only people there for the 7:25 showing, so it was a private showing.  Now that's what I called a VIP pass!

Oh, i didn't mention that I got an email from the newspaper today telling me that my movie pass had arrived at the theater and that they were giving me an extra month...until the end of April 2012!!  So, I took the pass I got in the mail (that expired March 30) and traded it for the pass that expires April 30.  cool beans

No.  I think that's really so I don't just pass the pass around.  I don't think they'll ever ask if people are with me

The truck driver peeled an orange and sectioned it and then squirted spray cheese on the section and ate it.

And speaking of cooking...

Due to a few well-timed phone calls - and some hopeful wishing ;) - I managed to snag two seats for a special dinner here in Chicago this Sunday at The Publican. Chef Gabrielle Hamilton has a new memoir out called, "Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef". To celebrate the release of the book, Chef Hamilton and Chef Paul Kahan will be re-creating the first menu presented in that book.

What's sort of funny about this is that Gabrielle Hamilton is the Chef-Owner of Prune in New York City. Additionally, it turns out some of my fellow NYC-based Foodies are also in town this week for this dinner here in Chicago.
