I'm watching Charlie Brown Valentines shows.  I always identified with Peppermint Patty. Which Peanuts character does anyone else identify with

Keith calls me Pig Pen. ;D

Perhaps - with a lot of Sally mixed in.

;D  Except I was not a couch potato unless I was reading.  Even then I often walked & read a book at the same time.  There is a woman I see on the hiking trails that hikes and reads.  I don't know how she does it.

Hey, I like seeing sugar laden and fattening. I don't gain weight by looking at them.

Oh, have I mentioned I'm now half way to my goal. I've lost 35 pounds!

Congratulations, Cillaliz!

I'm at 31...I seem to be stuck here.

Congrats on 31!   I was stuck for a little while and gained a little, but the past week I walked a lot and was really careful about what I was eating and think I'm back on track.

I need to lose lots this week because I will be eating whatever I want to while I'm in New Orleans.  I will go to Cafe DuMond and we already have reservations at NOLA where we like to eat whatever they have for their multiple course dinner that day - complete with wine with each course.  I can always lose it when I get home

Good Evening!

I'm back from Chinatown which was quite crowded and busy, surprisingly so.  -Although, I chatted briefly with a friend before his show tonight, and he said that Times Square was filled to the brim with tourists. "Recession? What recession?"

I did not end up having dumplings for dinner.  Instead I had an amazingly delicious Vietnamese sandwich, banh mi. It was my first time checking out Banh Mi Saigon, and I'm sure it won't be my last.  The sandwich was very good, but the most interesting part of the dining experience was sitting down on the makeshift table-seats and "making friends" with my fellow diners - very close quarters.  Oh, and the sandwich counter is in the back of a jewelry store!

For dessert, I tried to search out the famed "Tofu Man", but he did not seem to be out on the streets tonight.  However, I believe I found his wife's store.  For an amazingly reasonable $1.50 she ladled me out some fresh, still warm, tofu - Dou Hua - from a huge stock pot into a quart container, and then placed two small containers of ginger-infused simple syrup into the bag.  I then hightailed it to the nearest park bench, opened the container, splashed some ginger syrup on top, and... :)  I just hope my leftovers are even half as good tomorrow.

Alas - and I guess "thankfully" - the Dou Hua was not at all photogenic.  ;)

DR Elmore - I've seen reports about John McGlinn's passing on other sites, but none of them have yet to have listed a cause of death, or even a place of death.

Sam (female) and Bob are recovering together and reportedly have bonded and hug each other frequently.

Sam is the Koala in the photo with the fireman

On Paula's Party tonight, Billy Joel's wife revealed that Billy Joel thought "chicken with dumplings" was a Chinese dish.  The audience sounded amused, as did paula.

For starters, she probably leaves the dog at home.

Enjoyed some wonderful things in tonight's viewing.

I began by watching "Fever," the last episode on disc one in the MOONLIGHT set. This is one of my favorite-ever MOONLIGHT episodes, and I savored every minute of it seeing it again.

Next I watched SAVE ME, a film about an ex-gay organization in New Mexico. It's a fictional film with super performances by Chad Allen, Robert Gant and especially Judith Light. Stephen Lang is also in it. It's not a hysterical film about the subject, but rather a more reasoned and quiet look at one such organization. The Allen-Gant pairing showed some early chemistry but by the end, it seemed more tentative and I wasn't quite buying it. Still, a very enjoyable movie.

Next up was PSYCH (in HD!!!!) Truth to tell, though the episode was very entertaining, it wasn't all that great in HD. It was grainier than I was expecting and a little washed out compared to other HD programming.

Next was MONK (in HD!!!!!) and it was quite wonderful seeing it in HD for only the second time ever. (I saw one episode when NBC showed MONK and PSYCH on Sunday night's last season for a couple of weeks.) An amusing case with Steve Valentine as a great magician. Not a great mystery, but the show was less over the top than usual.

Showtime was showing THERE WILL BE BLOOD in HD tonight, and so I tuned in to it for about 40 minutes. Looks much better in HD than the standard DVD I reviewed about 10 months ago.

believe all reports on McGlinn's death have stemmed from the original emails I sent out to everyone I could think of whose email I had and who had worked with him, been burned by him, or knew him between 1984 and 2002.  I also poasted it on the Cast Recording List so the news would travel fast from all that.

He was found dead in his apartment and it's believed he was dead 3 or 4 days.  The detective in the apartment must have used his address book to call Russell Warner and others looking for a next of kin.

The detective told my friends he called that he suspected heart attack, but nothing would be certain till the coroner's report. Around 6:20, Kim Criswell called me from London, and she believes, since she spoke to him last month, it was a suicide. DR Ben arrived while I was on the phone with her.

After that, DR Ben and I went to Artie's for dinner, came back and watched the Bristol Old Vic production of Sheridan's THE RIVALS, a complete delight. It was a very lovely evening and nice to have a laugh after the shock of McGlinn's death.

But they made me wait SO long! Lots of you folks around the country have had USA-HD long before we got it.

Still, I will send an e-mail thanking them (and urging them toward FX-HD soon!)

I, of course, knew nothing about Mr. McGlinn personally (except DR Elmore's bits and pieces the bulk of which are being saved for his memoirs). But I do know that his CDs of SHOW BOAT and BRIGADOON are often played and hugely enjoyed.
