Well, you've read the notes, the notes crossed the Finnish line, and now it is time for you to post until the Finnish cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LAMBENT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Welcome thirty-nine GUESTS.
-
First post after thirty-nine GUESTS.
;)
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, BK.
-
Good night, Laura.
-
Good night, Tom. Well, I need to go to sleep, too. I have to go into work an hour and a half earlier than I normally do. I hate that. :P
Have a good day, all! ;D
-
Dang. Someone woke me up knocking on our door.
-
I didn't answer.
-
I peeked out to see, and there was a man on a cell phone. I guess he had the wrong room. He's gone now.
-
Good afternoon from Kos.
-
Hard to believe it’s Wednesday.
-
I’ve run out of books to read. Except on my Kindle, which is taking forever to recharge. The electricity goes off when you leave the room, so I can’t just let it charge while I’m out.
-
And when I’m in the room, I am usually recharging my phone or using the sleep mask.
-
Good morning, all!
-
My computer is acting up this morning. I've had to reboot it, but the wait gave me time to write a transition from one key to the next in this overture I'm sketching.
-
I have physical therapy at 10:00 this morning, and that's my day.
-
I have no other news. Please keep those vibes coming. I am in horrible financial shape at the moment. I've been waiting on a small check, but I have no idea when that will show.
-
Vibes for Elmore
-
I really have nothing to share
-
I’ve just been going to work then coming home
-
And now I must go to work
-
Wishing everyone a joyous day
-
Good morning !
-
DR vixmom: to answer your question—my brother had bypass surgery yesterday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’m busier than the proverbial one-armed paper hanger these days. And I’m here to report that there is no rest for the wicked. But I think you knew that.
-
Dang. Someone woke me up knocking on our door.
That is not only annoying but disconcerting.
-
Two!

Is that because you have pulled the key card out? If so, get a second key to leave in the slot so you can continue to charge your kindle.
-
Laura I hope you managed to go back to sleep.
-
I went to visit DR LAURA last night, but she didn't answer the door. I tried to call her but I don't have her cell phone number.
-
I did some banking, filled the motor car with gasoline, and finally remembered to pick up my prescriptions that had been at CVS since August.
Of course they had to do them all over again....which was my fault.
-
CVS has a weighted blanket for $14.99.

No. It’s the door key. And it doesn’t work that way. It’s an old-fashioned metal key.

Glad that mystery is cleaned up.

Wow, I have never seen that system with a metal key. I would be begging tnem to charge my tablet elsewhere during the day.
-
Least of my concerns.
-
Physical therapy went well. It's chilly this morning, and I wore little, which I didn't mind since it's easy, fast bus rides. Sadly, when I left therapy it was raining, and the little I wore was getting soaked. I luckily caught a taxi and got home in one piece. It's screwed up my shopping plans, but that's okay.
-
Least of my concerns.
Without my book to read on a sleepless night I go batty ;D

~~~CONTINUED FINANCIAL VIBES FOR LARRY!!~~~
August?? :o Didn't you need the prescriptions?
-
Went out to look at the stars away from the resort. Walked down a road several hundred yards, where it’s darker. It’s also closer to another resort with karaoke or just really loud music. And here I was in the middle of nowhere on a Greek island, looking at Perseus and Andromeda. All of a sudden I realize I’m hearing One from A Chorus Line blaring in the background. Very surreal.
-
LOL DR JOHN G - culture is invasive....
One prescription was a refill that I didn't need until just now and the other is a new prescription for my cholesterol.....so I didn't even think about them.
-
We are supposed to have 80 degree temps for the next couple of days and then 50's and 60's for the weekend.
August?? :o Didn't you need the prescriptions?
My thoughts as well.
Also, now that it can be automated, pharmacies usually call if a reminder to pick up your prescriptions before they are returned.
I've almost finished the overture. I'm thinking about a fugue to go over "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" for the finish, so tonight I have to write something and see how it fits.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
CONTINUED MEGA VIBES for Larry!
-
RECOVERY VIBES for DR Kevin's brother!
-
CONTINUED MEGA VIBES for Larry!
Thanks! I've been expecting a check from the estate of my late friend Bob Ullman, since I'm one of around 20 or so beneficiaries. It was a complete surprise to learn that, but I could sure use it right now.
-
Jane, the cousins you visited in England live there and you also had FB friends from the US there, too?
-
I went to the hairdresser today. The client before me had medium-length brown hair and was having the tips tinted green. It was a long, multi-step process. This was a woman in her forties. She was hoping the tips would actually turn out teal--that was very important to her. I try not to judge.
-
There's a Mexican restaurant next door. With her hair still in foils she went over there. "Oh, you're from next door!" they said. I found this very funny. Maybe it's just a surreal day.
So nice to be remembered. Do you have any idea when it'll arrive?
Oh, I forgot to mention the Village-to-Village Network I learned about yesterday. There are about 300 of these across the country, volunteer organizations to help seniors with rides or minor handyman chores. They require a year's membership, but offer up to 18 rides per month, much cheaper they say than Uber or Lyft.
It would be lovely if Larry's inheritance could cover something like this.
Jane, the cousins you visited in England live there and you also had FB friends from the US there, too?
There is the one cousin that lives on the Isle of Man. She and her husband were vacationing in Lancaster where we met.
After my mother died I wrote her mother, my mother's favorite aunt, to tell her. My aunt & I wrote a few times and then my cousin wrote to tell me that my aunt had passed away. We occasionally wrote over the years and then Keith & I went to the Isle of Man to meet the family there. It was very nice to see them.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
In London we met Bernese Mountain Dog facebook friends we talk with regularly on facebook. One flew in from Canada & the couple took the train and spent several days in London with us.
-
The family that drove over an hour to meet us in York are also good Bernese Mountain Dog friends, even the now 18 year old daughter.
-
Woke up at noon and literally every time I tried to come to this here site, the phone rang or I had to deal with e-mails or work at the piano, then get packages and no important envelope, and then I got some fresh crab and shrimp for food - almost no calories, so I can have a nice snack later - then more phone, more e-mails and finally...
-
Here I am.
-
Also a friend from high school, elementary & jr high for Keith, drove an hour to meet us for lunch. She lives in the US but was staying with a sister who lives in England. Up until a few years ago she didn't even know she had a sister. It is great they have become close.
-
Oy and vey.
-
I haven't had a second to myself.
-
And now myself needs a second so I'm listening to music.
-
Why are we on this damn page?
-
Barely on this page.
-
Unseemly.
-
I gotta tell you.
Oh, I forgot to mention the couple we met outside of London. We met them through Keith's genealogy research. He found the person who found my missing grandfather, unfortunately not alive. We believe we are related through my father's side of the family but can't prove it. For some odd reason he doesn't want to do DNA testing to find out.
-
I've sketched out the fugue, and I'll finesse it when I commit it to paper. And it's time to curl up with the kitties and watch some telly before going to bed.
-
Then, there is the couple that drove us around for two full days. We met my cousin Jane through Keith's research. Jane is my 3rd cousin. Though she is younger than I am my great grandparents are her great, great grandparents. Through them is where she comes into my family tree. It was exciting & emotional exploring our history together.
I like to keep a bit ahead of the game and have a month of extra meds, just in case there is a hold-up getting the renewal. I have had that happen.
That's cool...and kind of sad that she didn't know that she had a sister after all this time.
Keith's mother had something similar, only it was coupons for discounted taxi rides.
-
If Uber had been around Keith could have ordered it, and paid for it, when she needed a ride.
-
DR Jeanne I wish you could have followed Keith's blog on fb. This is what he wrote on our last day of touring with my cousin Jane & her husband.
"At the end of the 18th century, Lancashire was developing into a center for the spinning and weaving of cotton fiber into fabric. Ultimately, it became the hub of the English cotton industry and the apex of the English industrial revolution. My 4th great-grandparents, James Ormrod (1770-1825) and Ann Woods (1768-1814), were borne into the Lancashire households of a miller and a house servant, respectively. Humble beginnings. When James passed at the age of 58, he and his partners controlled numerous Lancashire cotton mills and the first commercial bank of Bolton—the latter now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland. James and Ann’s offspring maintained and grew the businesses they inherited and by the end of the 19th century, the family’s combined fortunes totaled approximately £1.5 million pounds—equivalent to about $200 million US dollars today. Walking through the town of Bolton, seeing their estates and the results of their charities, was fascinating. My own family version of Downton Abbey!"
She was rather shocked when she found out. Her older sister knew about her.
I have Kaiser, so I don't know how far ahead I can get my meds. Maybe if I was going to be on an extended vacation, I probably could get some that far ahead, but I'm not planning on that anytime soon.
That's kind of like what happened to my mom. Her father left when she was a baby and went on to have another family. Her younger half-brother somehow knew about her and eventually contacted her a couple of years ago. My mom only knew that her father had left, and nothing else. She was apprehensive about meeting him, but when he came here and they got to know each other, she was really glad that they did meet. But she never knew, and was the older of all her other siblings.
Thanks DR George.
I've been watching the new transfer of The Shining. I don't have 4K and I'm told that looks great - the Blu of it certainly looks better than the old Blu - in fact, some of it looks great, while certain shots seem to lack contrast - curious if the 4K is like that.
Well, I didn't go to my sister's.
My niece called and asked if I could come over on Saturday where there will be more time and it'll be warmer earlier in the day. I said that that was okay. So, I went to Costco instead and did a little shopping. Now, I'm home and will balance my checkbook...hopefully. ;)
Post #100!!
Someone on The Manhattan Transfer's FB page posted a YouTube link to the Society of Singers tribute to Frank Sinatra from 1990! It's the whole hour and a half show. It's fantastic!
This is what FB poster wrote:
FINALLY someone uploaded the entire program of the Society of Singers tribute to Sinatra on the occasion of his 75th birthday.The lineup of talent is mind boggling: The Hi-Lo's (with Don Shelton and Clark Burroughs), Kitty Kallen, The Sentimentalists (with all of the Clark Sisters), Connie Haines backed by The Manhattan Transfer, Ella, Fran Warren, Steve and Eydie -- I could go on for days! A magnificent evening!
My sister's boyfriend forwarded a link to this article: Our Skulls Are Out-Evolving Us (https://onezero.medium.com/our-skulls-are-out-evolving-us-and-that-could-mean-a-public-health-crisis-f950faed696d).
What is this page four malarky?
Page four? Really?
I really have not stopped today - aside from watching about forty minutes of The Shining. New titles are already live for those who'd like to get a jump on such things.
BK, I'm curious. According to the CastAlbums.org listing (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Kurt-Weill-Revisited-Vol-2-1981-Various-Artists/7012/) of Kurt Weill Revisited, Vol. 2, the Painted Smiles CD release had 16 tracks, but the Kritzerland listing (http://www.kritzerland.com/weill2.htm) only shows 12 tracks. Is that all that yours will have, or did the other tracks just not get listed on the Kritzerland page?
-
I just added Kurt Weill Revisited, Vol. 2 to the CastAlbums Database:
The Painted Smiles CD had twelve tracks, too - just more of Mr. Bagley's complete ineptitude. On the original LP the first tracks were combined into a medley on ONE track - on the CD he erroneously listed them as separate tracks - you'll see in our list of tracks that all the songs in that medley are one track. Same with the final two songs - a medley that should be one track that he listed as separate tracks - that's why I'm so happy to be doing these - to correct all his crap. I do believe by the time he did the CDs he'd completely lost any semblance of sanity he'd once had and he didn't have much to begin with.
Notes are written but I shall not be posting them or changing the topic without some more damn posts.
