Well, you've read the notes, you now feel twitchy and bitchy and manic, and now it is time for you to post until the twitchy, bitchy, manic cows come home.

Welcome five GUESTS!  We're talkin' about favorite elective classes.

Hmmm I had a lot of interesting classes in college

My favorites were American culture - Midwest, Popular Culture, History of Art and Theater,  and Acting 101!!

I had a professor that was joy to have.. BEing HOH, It was nice to have that class for it taught us to observe body langauge. The fun part is I got to take with my friends Keith and Sandy and we had to act out a scene from a play or tv show.

Popular Culture was a truly fascinating class and one that lead to to observe theater and other forms of media closer. In the class we had to do a paper on some aspect of popular culture. I did mine on soaps. Others did theirs on sports, fashion, fine arts, music, magazines, etc...

My favourite elective classes were the ones I taught!
When I was at School we did not have elective classes until about age 15 - I chose music appreciation rather than to do art.

DP Colin used to use a stig matic to break the soil up before digging fencing pole holes.  Of course people who use a stig matic tend to make a spectacle of themselves.

The only elective classes that I took in high school were choir and several typing/business classes.  I was in the Concert Choir and Show Choir for four years and in my senior year, I added the non-audition choir (I forget what they called it).  I took three years of typing and was in FBLA (the Future Business Leaders of America).  Of course, I didn't become a future business leader, but I type all the time in my job and now with the computer, on HHW.  Learing how to type, at least, was a good choice. :)

Also, in the second semester of my senior year, I took Drama I.  I had loved musicals for several years by then, but had never thought about actually being in any kind of stage production.  For our final, we did the first scenes of "Life With Father."  I was father and did rather well...during rehearsals.  When we did the scenes as our final in front of the whole class with blocking and costumes and everything, I jumped a section and cut a page and a half out of the scene!  Dopey me!  Several characters were introduced in those scenes and they had to just walk on on their next lines.  I got a C for the final, but a B for the class.

Good morning, all!  I'm working on a new choral-dance piece and I have no more 14-stave paper, which is my favorite paper for doing NYCGMC charts.  Adding insult to injury, the music papewr company no longer makes it, so I need to settle on new score paper this morning.  I handle change badly in my work habits.

Beyond that, I have to go to my producer's office, write three new measures for Judy Kaye to cross a stage, have brunch with friends coming in from New Jersey, and haul myself back here to dig out all of the music I need for this medley.

TOD:  electives?  I had an English class in folklore that was so much fun I almost changed majors.  I also remember a wonderful class in 20th Century French authors which introduced me to Malraux, Camus, Gide, and Saint-Exupery beyond Le Petit Prince.  Plays included Sartre's "Les Mouches," Anouilhs "Romeo et Jeannette," and something by Giraudoux, but I've forgotten which one now.  I had read several of his plays in English like "The Madwoman of Chaillot," "Tiger at the Gates," "The Enchanted," "Ondine," and "Amphitryon 38," but I have no memory of the one for the French class.  Oy!

Drama was NOT a class offered in my high school, although we could join the "Drama" club, although it didn't matter because MOST of the parts in the two plays we did were given to student "leaders" who weren't even members of the club.

DR MattH wrote last night:
Quote
Next, I watched THE PACIFIER. Predictable from first frame to last, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I laughed at some of it, and it was certainly good natured. I noticed that the script was written by the two guys responsible for RENO 911 (Thomas Lemon and Ben Garrett), but they recycled slapstick bits from Disney live action comedies that go all the way back to THE SHAGGY DOG.

And I had no idea the adults in the cast included such names as Carol Kane, Lauren Graham, Brad Garrett, Chris Potter, and Faith Hill. They all worked hard for their laughs.

Faith Ford, not Faith Hill. :)

I laughed at this movie as well.  I can appreciate a predictable comedy that is sweet and charming.  And I also really enjoyed the cast, especially Brittany Snow (the oldest daughter from American Dreams and Nip/Tuck).

And I also just got the Constant Gardener to watch!

DR JRand, re: your comments about Trading Spaces.  I also miss Paige, she was my favorite part of the show (besides hildy and doug and laurie).

I will admit, most of the changes they made are quite good. I like having the couples and hosts and carpenters do much more.  I like seeing what changes they've made after 2 weeks.  But I still loved Paige.  They made it sound like they would be doing so many remotes from 2 locations that she would not fit in. But really they have only done that once or twice. I hope she's doing well.

Good morning!

Call it BLEAK HOUSE here because it's gray and cold and yucky outside! Inevitably in January, we're going to have days like this, but Mother Nature is so cruel to give us spring for much of the month and then throw us lousy days like today. I'll have to check out the five day forecast in a bit to see if there are changes on the way or if winter really HAS decided to hang around for awhile.

First video up for me today will be A FOREIGN AFFAIR recorded off TCM. I really can't believe I didn't watch it yesterday as anxious as I am to finally see this all the way through. With my luck, the broadcast from TCM probably pixillated and will be unwatchable, but with fingers crossed, I'll start it this afternoon as I eat lunch.

At my high school, there were only six periods a day, and if one took the four core subjects and had a lunch period, that left only one period for an elective, and since I was in the band, that was my elective all four years of high school.

As feature editor of the high school newspaper, however, I had to take SPOTLIGHT (our student newspaper) as an additional elective my senior year, so I didn't have a lunch period that year. I just did without and ate when I got home at 3:30 (which wasn't that much; I was the original 98 pound weakling during that period of my life).

I am really surprised that some enterprising studio hasn't redone DVDs for THE IPCRESS FILE and FUNERAL IN BERLIN since they're both out of print and I would think highly sought after. I don't have either but am not about to pay those outrageous prices being asked for them. I catch them every time TCM broadcasts them.

Mawnin', all!

Today I move some stuff - beds, for an example - into my Marina loft. By Wednesday or so it should be livable.

fave classes, hmmmm... Well, Mr. Bill Gordon's drama classes, for the big start. BK was in those, and Jane and Keith. Even when I was cutting classes and skippping school regularly, I always came to the drama class at the end of the day. And I loved the creative writing class where I learned to write sonnets. And the Shakespeare class, again, Mr. Bill Gordon. Any of my foreign language classes. I took French, Italian, Russian, German. For the rest of school - well, I played hookey a lot.

I realize that I have mucho catching up to do.  But yesterday was one of "those" days, when lots of everything happened.

Most of which I won't bore you with.

The most important of which I will bore you with, however.

Peggy is no longer with us.

Relax, it's good news.

For some time, der Brucer has had Peggy's picture listed on several websites, hoping to find her a home.  Over the past year, since Peggy and her pups joined us, there have been several nibbles, but nothing really counted as a bite.  Der B admits he wasn't searching too hard for a new family for her; those first few months, after finding Benny and Baxter homes, were spent getting her over that mange she had, and during that time he developed a crush for the girl.

But a family that lives in Pennsylvania and has a second home near us here sent der B an interesting e-mail.  The two boys, one fifteen and one ten, had found Peggy's pics on the web, and told their mother that she (Peggy) looked like a dog they could love.  A series of e-mails were exchanged, and der B agreed that we would meet with them yesterday.

To be honest, the older boy is more in need of a girlfriend than a dog, but he also seemed like the sort of kid who could take on the responsability for her care.  The younger boy, on the other hand, needs a dog, someone who can be a playmate and a pal.  And Peggy took to both of them very quickly.

So we left Peggy with them for the night, to see how things work out, and after that there will be a week for her to spend with them in Pennsylvania, to make sure how well they and she fit together.  But I think that she's found a new family.  I certainly hope so.  She's such a good dog, and she needs a boy.  Fletcher will miss her, of course.  So will we.  But we didn't take her in for ourselves, we took her in because she needed help.

I'm going to need a new avatar.

Sun-dried?  OK, I know you've that Bollywood thing, so your favorite films are from a sultry clime, but sun-dried is a word I usually use for tomatoes.

Sundry, on the other hand, means miscellanious or various.  The "y" is pronounced as a long "e", making the word "sun-dree".

Thus ends this edition of the nitpick report.   ::)

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

Decisions, Decisions...

To New York or Not To New York, that is the question...

-I woke up with a "touchy" back.  I'm mobile and able to move, but my lower back muscles are really tight right now.  I've been feeling something back there - no comments DRs elmore and TCB - for the past two days, and I've been very careful with my activity.  However, on the "good side", it looks like this tightness is most likely related to my new-found fitness - well, still in progress fitness.  I'm using more muscles, more muscles are being stretched, and since I'm actually starting to lose my gut, my whole support system (abs, back, etc.) is needing to make some adjustments.  -And my mind is needing to make some adjustments.  It does feel different when I sit up straight now - which is a good thing.  So...

I have one of those heat wraps on, and I've been taking my time getting ready for the day this morning.  I have packed my overnight bag for NYC, but I think I'm just gonna see how I fell after tonight's show.  If I'm up for the drive, then I'll do it.  If not, then I'll just stay put for the next 48 hours here in Fairfax.  No biggie.  There's nothing pressing in NYC I have to do tomorrow - although, I do have a friend visiting the city this week, so... -Again, we'll see...

*And with my whirlwind trip to San Francisco on Thursday... Staying put may just be the thing I need to do.  We have two shows on Wednesday... Which means the only "day" I'll be able to get any personal work done would be, well... Tomorrow and Tuesday... -And that's if I don't go to NYC, so...

Decisions, Decisions...

And as for Electives...

Drama - Which was actually and after-school activity - we did have a proper class during regular school hours.

Otherwise, band and choir.

*I went to a Catholic High School.  I received a wonderful education, but even the "electives" were more or less required, so...  Even my AP History and AP English classes were considered 'electives'.

And I believe with this post - thank you for the heads up, DR Rodzinksi - I shall have reached a certain plateau...

And since I have to get ready to head in for the show, I shall surpass this milestone...

Laters...

Well, dear reader S. Woody White, one should think you'd been coming to this site long enough to know that MBarnum was using our tried and true "various and sundried" line - and yes, it's "sun-dried" (how it should be pronounced when used here on haineshisway.com) on purpose and has been since the first time I used it.

Had a nice breakfast with Mr. David Wechter - we're now on the fast track to finish the sci-fi spoof musical we were working on three years ago.  I can't find a lot of my lyric sheets, but thankfully he had a tape of one of the key songs that I simply could not remember.  I still have one lyric sheet to find, but at least I remember the tune of that and the general idea of the lyric.

OMG I may have to kill you. :)    I honestly cannot fathom why anyone would vote for him. I find his dancing horrid. And I don't find he was trying that hard.  He was terrible!  He wouldn't even agree to wear dancing shoes which i thought made him seem obnoxious.   I don't mind if people root for the underdog.  But they were being kind to him (one judge gave him a 6).  Yes I don't think they should have said that he should not be on the show next week. But frankly he is that bad.  He is so much worse than any of the people on there (or even those who have been voted off) that i really can't wait for him to go!

It's funny but Elisabeth from The View felt just like you. She championed him and even wore a t-shirt.  That actually made me so mad. :)

Then they shouldn't have invited him to be on the show. I think it's really rude to take people who aren't claiming to be professionals at dancing  and then ridicule them if they don't live upto those standards.  The judges were unnecessarily harsh to almost all of them.  This isn't American Idol.  None of these contestants are going to go on to have careers as ballroom dancers, so why does it have to be so vicious. I don't remember the first season being like that.  It isn't fun to listen to the judges engage in public humiliation of people who are doing something outside of their comfort zone.  So, even though I agree he's the worst dancer, I'll keep voting for him as long as the judges act that way.

I'm showered and all clean and shiny.  In about an hour I'll mosey over to the theater to give some minor notes to my cast - I know if I keep doing that they'll soon learn to be consistent just to shut me up.

Doing a little cleaning around the home environment, and then I must go through boxes to try to find the missing pages from this musical that we're going to finish.  they're somewhere, having formerly been on my piano.  Why they were moved is the question to which I have no answer.

BK, perhaps I saw another review, but this one, while certainly not a rave, had at least one pullable, notably the comment about Ashford being suitable suave or something like that.  I say, get what you can and move on.  :)

Still involved with this Wikipedia nonsense.  I've had two sleepless nights over it.  I guess I need to take BK's advice and take a shower.  Screaming under the railroad only scared the bats.   ;D

UGH! I just can not get motivated to pack today. Good thing it doesn't really have to be done today.  But, I'm bound and determined to keep going for a while. Every little bit I get done now is something that doesn't have to be done when it gets crazy.  I swear I'm one of the only people I know who can spread moving out over weeks at a time. Just how do people manage to pack and move quickly? Perhaps they have less "stuff" than I do~!

I'm off.  I must shower then take my niece to see "Rent" that's playing at the Olympia Film Society.  After that, I have to pop into work and pick up some papers that I had printed out yesterday but forgot to take with me.  Ooops!  Even though they're not work-related (which is allowable), and they're not anything that I need to hide from my co-workers, I need them before tomorrow, when I go back to work for real.  That's my day.

Thus ends my nitpick report.
You're right, I should have picked up on that.  I didn't, and I appologize.  Michael's writing style is quite different from yours, and I simply didn't recognize the phrase out of your context.

I blame ALL my poor spelling and bad grammar on poor proof reading skills!

...I'm going to need a new avatar.
Or maybe not, for another week.

We had our arranged meeting with the family.  Peggy was doing fine, getting along with everyone quite well.  The one catch was, she got loose twice during her stay with them.

For this reason, she's back with us...but just for a visit.

The family's other house, in PA, has about an acre of yard but no fence.  Heck, if she can jump a four-foot fence with the greatest of ease, and she can, the thought of her having no fences is a scary one indeed.  So the family is going to check on a few things, such as finding a proper chain that they can attach to her collar, so she will have access to their porch and yard whenever she is outside.

They also want to find a better collar for her than what she's been wearing.  Der B and I agree that this is a good idea.

Mom, who has shown dogs, also wants to find a good trainer for Peggy and her ten-year-old.  Which Mom said means someone who can train both Peggy and her ten-year-old.  The boy is clearly smitten with Peggy, but needs to learn how to assert himself with her, instead of letting her take the lead.  Heck, if he can learn how to be Alpha to Peggy, it will probably help him in other situations.

Like I said earlier, Peggy will be staying with us for another week.  So I guess my avatar doesn't need changing quite yet.

DR MattH I have a question for you. My sister's UPN station has a basketball this wednesday (during veronica mars). I know you've mentioned your station does this too.  So when should i look for the show to be on?  My tv only has till tues.  Will it be on wed after the game? Or some other day!  I can't believe they are doing this for the first new show! :(

If my local station preempts it, they usually replay it at 11:30 p.m. (or later) depending on how late the game goes. The UPN station here is not equipped to record high def shows in high def (weird since my DVR can do it), so I have to watch them in standard definition when this happens.

I read TV Week this morning, and I don't remember seeing that VERONICA was not going to be shown here, but, of course, it certainly could happen.

I had a nice afternoon of video treats.

First up was two episodes from CSI: MIAMI, one of which involved an officer shooting by a teenaged Bonnie and Clyde. Most entertaining was the girl's soccer mom who insisted that her daughter couldn't POSSIBLY be mixed up in such a thing.

Reminds me of some parents I had to deal with who inisisted their child never lied or did anything dishonest after they had fed them a long line of lies about doing homework (when I said they hadn't)  and my putting things on tests we hadn't covered in class. Always gave me great satisfaction to present the evidence to the parents and watch them then turn to their child for an explanation after sitting there with egg on their faces.

Found this on another website - too much of it is too true!

Quote
25 SIGNS YOU HAVE GROWN UP

1. Your house plants are healthy, and you can't smoke any of them.

2. Having sex in a twin bed is out of the question.

3. You keep more food than beer in the fridge.

4. 6:00 AM is when you get up, not when you go to bed.

5. You hear your favorite song in an elevator.

6. You watch the Weather Channel.

7. Your friends marry and divorce instead of "hook up" and "break up."

8. You go from 130 days of vacation time to 7.

9. Jeans and a sweater no longer qualify as "dressed up."

10. You're the one calling the police because those &%&@#ing kids next door won't turn down the stereo.

11. Older relatives feel comfortable telling sex jokes around you.

12. You don't know what time Taco Bell closes anymore.

13. Your car insurance goes down and your car payments go up.

14. You feed your dog Science Diet instead of McDonald's leftovers.

15. Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt.

16. You take naps.

17. Dinner and a movie is the whole date instead of the beginning of one.

18. Eating a basket of chicken wings at 3 AM would severely upset, rather than settle, your stomach.

19. You go to the drug store for ibuprofen and antacid, not condoms and\ pregnancy tests.

20. A $4.00 bottle of wine is no longer "pretty good stuff."

21.You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time.

22. "I just can't drink the way I used to" replaces "I'm never going to drink that much again."

23. 90% of the time you spend in front of a computer is for real work.

24. You drink at home to save money before going to a bar.

25. When you find out your friend is pregnant you Congratulate them instead of asking "Oh S*$# what the hell happened?"

Bonus:
26: You read this entire list looking desperately for one sign that doesn'tapply to you and can't find one to save your sorry old butt.

Then I watched A FOREIGN AFFAIR. Dietrich definitely steals the movie. She can't make a move without all eyes on her. Everyone and everything else fades into oblivion.

And I was really shocked at Wilder's rather scathing (and unapologetic) view of American GIs as shills at the expense of a conquered people. I suspect in 1948 America, this was not a popular stance to take.

Ah, but do you remember being the one doing the lying to your parents?

I remember hiding a bad report card from my parents for about a month.  Not one of my finer moments (but I was something like seven at the time).

The West Coast version of WILL & GRACE followed. As what happened before when a live show was done, the studio audience for the second show was infinitely more responsive than the audience for the first show. Quite a few jokes were changed, a couple added, all of which made for a better show.

The pill bottle sight gag worked like a charm on the East Coast and failed miserably on the West Coast while the poor actors stood there at sea without anything to do. (Eric McCormack's ad-lib about KING KONG got lost amid the floundering.)

Thanks again to DR George for making this version available to me.

All kids lie; that's what they do when they're in trouble, but I never lied about school. My mom was a teacher, and my dad was on the school board and knew every teacher and principal (and superintendent) personally. No way I could get away with anything.

Hi all!  Sorry to have been E & T.  I tried to sign on for a real quick "hello" before I left for work a few times but the board wouldn't let me on.

I've been a bit busy with this and that or that and this.  I know you will laugh but after seeing the pictures of myself in NYC this last trip, I was shocked at how much weight I've gained.  I have deciced that I need to lose a good 20-25 pounds (at least) so when I've gotten home from work, I've been working out.

I've also been playing with the new DVD recorder.  I've been working on transfering all my B&B tapes over to DVD.  Of course, I can't just set it and forget it.  I always manage to sit through an show or two (errrr or three).

Along with new DVD recorder, I bought some new photo software that I've been playing with.

Work has been the usual bear.  Ugh.  I'm ready to win the lotto and retire.  Nineteen years and 3 months to go if I don't.  Not that I'm counting.   ::)

It's fairly depressing to think that I'm actually looking forward to the surgery so I'll be off for a few weeks.  One friend at work and I have made a check list of body parts we could live without so we could have a least one six week recovery every year.   ;D

I hope that everyone is doing alright.

I was VERY glad to read about Peggy finding a home.  I just hope she's not going to chained up outside all of the time.  The family needs to look into some type of fencing or invisable fencing.

Dancing with the Stars.  I have two schools of thought on that subject.  I felt sorry for P the first week and I agree the judges are a more then a little hard on someone who is clearly never going to be a dancer.  However,  if he didn't know what was going to be expected of he, he really should by now.

If he didn't want to wear the shoes and do his best, he should excuse himself from the show.

At this point, I'm thinking it is more of way of gathering viewers because no one (having seen him dance) would believe that he is still on the show!

The Mom of the family was quite clear on this: Peggy will only be chained when she is outside, unless she is on a leash.  She is to be a part of the family, which makes her a house dog.  Which is what Peggy has always been, at least since she's been with us.

This is actually one of those internet hoaxes, more or less.

Telemarketers can only call your cell phone if you "Opt In" to the program.  Otherwise, it is still illegal for telemarketers to call you on your cell without prior permission.  Some telemarketing companies even have blocks on their own systems that prevent them from calling cell phones - cell phones have certain "prefixes" (the first three digits), and they get kicked out of their systems.  Additionally, most the major cell phone companies have NOT joined the still-being-proposed national cell phone directory.  So...

But you can still add your cell phone to the Do Not Call List as a safeguard.

For more info, just check out:

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/celldirectory.htm (http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/celldirectory.htm)

And in the meantime, you can still add your land lines to the Do Not Call list.  *But remember, charities, political parties, etc., are still allowed to call you, so...

On the TOD, my top favorite elective in HS was sewing.  I took it during my junior year as an escape from choir (the choir director was a total ass, of course my diva-ish behavior had nothing to do with our friction :))

Anyhoo, it was a really great class where I not only learned some basic sewing skills but discovered that sewing was quite enjoyable for me.  And as a bonus, I made some really cool new friends outside of my normal circle.  The class was open to all grade levels so there were a really diverse group of kids.  I loved that class.

SWW congratulations on your bittersweet news.  I happen to think 15 is a wonderful age for a boy to have a dog.  That was Craig’s age when we got Echo. Maybe both boys can attend the dog training classes.

Jose you might need to do some “back appropriate” stretches before and after you exercise, even a few before going to bed.

Why do we call it bittersweet?  I'm not bitter at all, far from that.  I'm happy with a seasoning of sadness, and it's quite a good feeling.

I just got this announcement from Skip Kennon:

JUST A REMINDER....31 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. ...YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS... To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

As a non-cell phone owner it's my good deed for the day.

Well, I don't have a cellphone, but DR MBarnum has let me know this is an urban legend.  I don't know why I got this from Skip, unless he thought - as did I - he was doing someone a favor.  Now I feel bitchy and manic,

Danise sorry I had to post and run.  For a brief time we had Sprint and they also sent emails with voice mail.  I liked that.  When we first switched to Qwest and lost the email notification I kept forgetting to check for messages.  Our new telephones flash lights at us when we have voicemail which is nice.

Back from Bean Town. What a wonderful trip - I had a blast. And now I'm back to the land of nosy roommates...

I had an absolutely amazing time with my old friend, Julie, who treated me to a fantastic culinary tour of Boston. I even drank cappuccino, which for me is a big deal as I hate coffee. Truth be told, with a good deal of sugar, it wasn't bad!

Anyway, I'm back. Hope I didn't miss too much. Now I'm off to scrounge around for some dinner...

I think I forgot to tell about one of the funniest things that happened:  As our guided tour of the American Museum of Natural History was turning left to go see the Pacific Northwest exhibit, I looked right and saw a couple we know from here in Middletown!  They tagged along with the rest of the tour, then we sat down in one of the museum cafes and had a visit until DH Richard and I had to get to the Planetarium for our 1pm show.  We never see Ron and Suzanne here at home!

BLEAK HOUSE is quite sweeping and wonderful.  Like the novel, the characters are thrown fast and furious at you, so I'm still sorting them out.  The cast is quite wonderful and I like the various colors used, rather gray for the London settings, quite bright and colorful in the country.  I don't know where it's going, but Charles Dance seems quite treacherous and Gillian Anderson seems fraught with tragedy from her past.  I recommend it highly, and I think I will order the DVD.

It's okay to disagree.  I guess I just remember the show differently last season. Cause they were really mean to eventual winner Kelly Monaco.

Other than P Master, I thought they were quite nice to almost every contestant.  They were a bit harsh on the person who got voted out.  But they were actually quite nice to most of the celebs, IMO.

Got a pleasant surprise with HOSTAGE. It was a bit more complicated than I was expecting it to be, and in tone and tension, it was very much like Bruce Willis' earlier success MERCURY RISING.

No, not a great film, but as a thriller, I enjoyed it pretty well. Like several recent movies, it had a wonderful and unusual main title sequence.

THE APPRENTICE has seen better days, and NBC had no choice but to move it. Were it still bringing in top ratings like SURVIVOR, I feel sure NBC would have left it where it was, but the ratings have dropped with each successive edition, and NBC decided to rebuild its two hour comedy block on Thursday. I can't say I'm sorry to see it go somewhere else.

Question is, where will LAS VEGAS be moved? I'm guessing either to SUnday at 8 or Friday at 9.

They are committed to ER for another couple of years, but its Top 10 days as a ratings winner are over, too, so I wouldn't be surprised in another year to see it moved off Thursday night.

NBC is a MESS! and dont get me started on the daytime shows... They are in need of a new writer....

SAdly NBC's dayparts have been a mess for years... The last couple of years they have have really been floundering...

I think in some regards the reality shows are losing their appeals...

Speaking of Farmer movies, Rodzinski, your week has come, my patient friend.  We finally have the tech stress tsuris behind us and I need to dub some other stuff anyway, so I'll get your long-promised movie off ASAP.

THe instant message programs or the service?

BTW, I just noticed the Lucy photo is actually 1936, not 1937.

It's a phenomenon known as WUSSBURGERING.  It happens from time to time.

I know it's not Ask BK Day, but can anyone help - We've been invited to a bar mitzvah in Florida where the dress code on the invitation is "South Beach Chic."  I tried googling and couldn't find a definition, and I'm assuming it's not the same as South Park Chic or South Pacific Chic. :)  So before I have to resort to something embarrassing like calling the hostess, does anyone know what is meant by South Beach Chic?  Thanks for any help.

South Beach Chic?  Think Ricky Ricardo in Havana.....maybe a white dinner jacket, black pants, and a panama hat!

Who knows?

I was watching THE GIRL HUNTERS and fell asleep, when I woke up, Lillian Gish was in the stocks in THE SCARLET LETTER.

DRELMORE - the Buffy song is one of my favorite parts of THE STRAWBERRY STATEMENT (starring Bruce Davison and Kim Darby with friend of Mr BK - Bud Cort in a supporting role.)

I may have to buy that DVD - unofficial release though it is.

I missed responding when the subject of songs from musicals that didn't do well was the TOD.  Of course, thete are so many on the Unsung Musicals and Lost in Boston album, but for some reason "Sez I" from DONNYBROOK is one that lasted in my mind over the years, as did "You Gotta Have Dancing" from A BROADWAY MUSICAL.

As to favorite electives, the Drama group in law school was so active and such a part of my law school experience that it might as well have been an elective.

DRSWW - didn't realize that BY MYSELF was on ANY DVD....hmmm.  I guess there is room for EVERYTHING.

DRJMK, I know that DRRODZINSKI was very interested in EBB TIDE, but i hope you at least throw in SOUTH OF PAGO PAGO for good measure....

Elmore - Skip was just passing on information that was emailed to him by someone he was sure was reliable, and checked out the process by putting his own cell phone on that Do Not Call list.

'Twould be quite a twill if I could find that in my size.  Sounds like dressing South Beach chic could be more expensive than getting to Florida.

I'm sure it HAS been....but probably there weren't a LOT of costumes in it!  :o

Nearly 1:30....time for to go to bed.

Maybe The Calimari Wrestler will be in my mailbox tomorrow.  Did any of the DR's who put BONJOUR TRISTESSE in their cue have it arrive yet?

SOUTH BEACH SHREEK - what people do when i show up in one of those  South Beach chic outfilts.  Or else a horror film about a South Beach chic party.  But maybe they're both the same thing.

The cast album of South Pacific is indeed on CD and has been for many years - on Columbia.

I may just wait to post until "tomorrow"...

Hmm... Can I still squeak this post in a little over/under the wire.... Let's see...

DR FJL - South Beach Chic is basically "very dressy", but in brighter colors - avoid blacks and dark grays.  Think beachy, bur formal.  And a bit sexy.  *Actually, the current costumes for the tour of Joseph are South Beach Chic inspired.

Oh, and jewelry - for women and men - is usually suggested.  Dig out those gold chains!

;)

However, some stores still have the earlier version of it.  The above is a pic of the reissue from 1998.

However, I don't believe a "VHS" copy was ever available.  The movie was with Mitzi Gaynor.

DR Jane - I've been very good about stretching before and after my exercises.  However, I think I may have "over-stretched" after my long run the other day.  The heat pack/wrap did wonders for me today, and I'm hoping that a good night's sleep will take the rest of the "twinge" away.
