Now I'm into last week's BURN NOTICE with John Rubenstein's son, Michael Weston, as the client. I've liked Michael's work since he played Olivia Benson's brother on LAW & ORDER: SVU. I know I've seen him before in things, but it was playing her half-brother in a story line that had him framed as a rapist where I first thought he was really striking.

Whew - a full day at ALA followed by a delightful dinner at The Berghoff.  I went to sessions today on doctoral programs, book blogs, and romance novels and Richard spent the day in the exhibit hall.  We were waiting in the lobby of the Palmer House for our dinner companions and a long-time friend from grad school showed up to meet HER dinner companions.  We'll visit more tomorrow at the University of Michigan reception.

I've been reading some old Cinema magazines - very interesting reading, especially the 1969 issue which has a large supplement about how this new- fangled home entertainment world is going to change the way we live.  And articles about all the coming any day now video tape machines (about five different companies with five different and completely incompatible machines and technologies - sound familiar).  Really interesting.

How well I remember that when I finally decided I was going to get a video recorder of my own, there were different choices, and I got a bunch of brochures describing them. The VHS and Betas were both 1/2" tape casettes, but, but seems like I recall a JVC that used 3/4" tape casettes, and there was even a reel-to-reel tape machine for the home.

I did end up with an RCA Selectavision which was VHS: I chose the eventual winner of that format war.

bk - Twitter works best when it's a two-way street.  If you want to start reaching more of your potential customer base, you should follow:

@BCEFA
@HairTribe
@marcshaiman
@TDFNYC
@SethRudetsky
@csbrockman
@mcctheater
@MarkBakalor
@n2nbroadway (Next To Normal - attract the attention of those Alice Ripley fans)
@jodisc
@gavincreel
@lockstocksally (which apparently is Hunter Foster and/or Jen Cody)
@starobin
@RockofAges
@ActorsLounge
@BroadwaySpace
@ShubertTheater
@theatertalk
@BroadwayMusical
@broadwaycom
@TheTonyAwards
@briandarcyjames

Etc., etc., etc.

I don't follow all the Broadway-related people and groups, but the above should give you a good start.  You don't necessarily have to "actively" follow then - read their Tweets - but by showing up in their Followers listing, that could help build the Followers for Kritzerland.

*And Twitter giveaways seem to be a good way to build up Followers too.

I wish you all the best with Twitter, but I can assure you I won't be there or on Facebook or any other forum other than this one and the one that I work for. There are not enough hours in the day for me as it is, and I simply can't balance another place to communicate with friends. They'll have to find me here or use e-mail.

Are there any good movies at the theater right now?   I have a free popcorn and a free pop for my b'day and I'm trying to decide if there's anything worth seeing to use it

And speaking of Twitter...

This Tweet most definitely caught my eye today:

I watched THE SAND PEBBLES on Blu-ray this evening, all three hours of it. It's too long, but you do come to care about the characters, and the second half certainly gets the juices flowing. Glad to see it again.

The Blu-ray is a good transfer, but certainly not as striking as some transfers I've seen. I have no idea what kind of shape the elements they had to work with were in. Also, I thought for some reason it was Todd-AO, but it was Panavision.

The score sounded marvelous in DTS-HD MA 5.1.

I was in the mood for a mystery, so I watched AFTER THE THIN MAN, the second in the THIN MAN series. I caught a bit of it on TCM this past week, and told myself if I had some time later, I wanted to rewatch the whole thing. Certainly had a marvelous range of character actors as suspects.

Tomorrow will be another free day, and I'll have to do some planning to decide what movies I want to watch. I have to remember that I have both TRUE BLOOD and LAW & ORDER: CI tomorrow night.

Speaking of good timing and rain,  there was some question about whether my assistant would qualify for her FHA mortgage because of potential water issues.  During the week the FHA inspector was already scheduled to go to her house we had over 3 inches of rain and the place was bone dry.  Looks like she's going to get her loan and her house!  woo hoo
