Can I beat DR FJL to the punch?

You got to
Make your own kind of Muppet!
Make your own special Rowlf!
Make your own kind of Muppet!
Even if you use just buttons and cloth!

DR Jane i'm reading about your library trip from yesterday.

I've never heard of self-check out for books. I don't think they would ever do that here. Does your library have a motion sensor. The librarians here have to rub the books against the sensor so they don't go off when we leave.

Also, i can't even imagine a library letting dogs in.  It sounds very odd to me. What if they chew on a book?

Wednesday morning greetings!  It's cold and gloomy here in SW Ohio.  I'm getting ready to take my salt-covered car to the car wash and then off to Dayton for lunch with the volunteer administrators.

Congratulations to DR Jane on her new library card!

DR Jennifer, the library from which I just retired installed a self-checkout system about a year ago.  We also have had a drive-up window, for both checking out and returning, at the downtown library for as long as I can remember.

I don't know of any library here that has a self-check out system or a drive-up window. They both sound interesting. But i guess the latter especially is not practical because of the way most libraries are set up.

My library is in the suburb's civic center that houses skating rinks and a pool. There is really no way that you could drive up.

Whew.....a library with a swimming pool and a skating rink seems more unusual to me than a library that allows dogs to browse.   But I am from Indiana.

What is your favorite routine by a comedy team that all DR's might not be familiar with -

Nichols & May - The Bargain Funeral

May:  And just where did you hear about our service?

Nichols:  I saw the ad in the TV Guide.

Good morning!

It was 16 here this morning but should warm up into the 40s later in the day. It's still VERY cold, the coldest winter we've had in four or five years.

Nichols:  Well, like what?

May:  A casket?

I'll be working on the Blu-ray of ANY GIVEN SUNDAY for most of the day. The film itself is the director's cut so it's now stretched to 156 minutes. There are TWO commentaries and several other bonus features.

DR td,

Some regular DVDs I've noticed are VERY good up-converted:

HELLO, DOLLY!, DOCTOR DOLITTLE, THE KING & I, FLOWER DRUM SONG, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, STARGATE, (surprisingly) the later Charlie Chan films from Fox, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, CASABLANCA, GOLDENEYE (or any of the James Bond Ultimate Edition releases), STAR WARS IV and V, V FOR VENDETTA, GYPSY, FUNNY FACE, SUNSET BOULEVARD.

Just getting around to thanking you all for all the splendiferous birthday wishes Saturday.

These are busy times, partly because part of the time is spent drumming up new business (I coach, accompany, transpose on sight, record, etc.) which then fills more times.  Yesterday, I commenced teaching a choral arrangement that will be performed February 23.  I hurried the rehearsal in order to let everyone out in time to run across the street to watch the Inaugural.  One "helpful" singer offered to record me playing everyone's individual part on his iPhone and then e-mail everyone an mp3.  Which meant I didn't make it out in time to see Justice Roberts' flub.  Oh, well: Caught the speech, and of course thought of Mr. Guy Haines when the President mentioned picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off..

I saved LEVERAGE from last night so I could watch it today while I eat lunch. I also still have MONK from Friday night to watch. DR Elmore's negative opinion of the episode has not helped it inch its way up the priority ladder!

Good morning, everyone.

JRand's post about a library that allows dogs to browse is most intriguing. I'm sure there's a story in the posts that led up to it.

Busy day for me. In fact, "busy" isn't the word for it. The packers arrive tomorrow and I am far from ready for them. As I will be staying with friends for a while I must decide which things I cannot live without and condense my life into a very small space. Ugh! I hate packing!

Last weekend I "lost" my bed, then my desk. Today is the last day on my desktop computer. (What's the point of a desktop when you have no desk, you ask.) I will have my laptop, but tend to feel cramped on it.

I shall be making a little sojourn to visit a friend next week, before making the trek west. I will post as I can.

Oh, I'd say there's a certain logic to HHW. Maybe not conventional logic, but logic.
