elmore and ron - the overall title of the 5 CD Fiedler set is The Arthur Fiedler Legacy - each volume is two CDs (for a total of ten) and they are themed - like B'way and Hollywood, Symphonic Spectacular, Evening At Pops, etc.  They're on Deutsche Grammaphon via Universal Distribution.

Of course, I had to cross the picket line to enter the home environment and eat said lunch.

Last night's LIFE was a marvelous episode. Two mysteries solved with an "inching closer" solution to his own personal mystery. And two new episodes next week. If it would do well after HEROES next Monday, I suspect NBC would move it there permanently.

Damn! I love this show and I forgot.  I was all caught up in THE CLOSER reruns on TNT.

Well, Cinderella has its one and only preview tonight and then we open.  Due to a longstanding gig, I was not able to be at dress last night (I know it's horrible, but what can you do?), so hopefully all the kinks are out.  I hope this comment is accepted with the humor with which it is intended, but the biggest "major change" in the show is Cinderella's phrasing--she would have been murdered by Richard Rodgers, I'm sure.  She especially likes coming in late and making eighth note pickups sixteenths.  :)  But she does have a lovely, lovely voice and will probably end up in NYC post-Miss America.

Which of course brings to mind the famous joke--how do you know there's a soprano at your door?  She can't find the key and doesn't know how to come in.

The films I have seen the most would be (in no particular order):

SOME LIKE IT HOT
WIZARD OF OZ
THE WOMEN
PHILADELPHIA STORY
THE GREAT RACE
PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM
BLAZING SADDLES
DESK SET
HOW TO STEAL A MILLION
MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE
101 DALMATIONS (the original animated one)

Not too textbook a collection, eh?   ;)

My sense is you'll like some of the later efforts, like "Tale Spinnin'", even more.  You should also get Zawinul's legendary solo Atlantic album, which is out on CD.

The Arthur Fiedler Legacy is badly represented on Amazon.com but all five volumes are there.  Here are the titles:
Vol. 1 Stars & Stripes
Vol. 2 Symphonic spectacular
Vol. 3 Evening at the Pops
Vol. 4 From Fabulous Broadway to Hollywood's Reel Thing
Vol. 5 Superstars and Songbooks

Time to shut things down here in my cube and go home to find out what DH Richard has cooked up for dinner.

Bye for now!
