...And I do hope that the Best Musical Tony for Jersey Boys will not "cause" all those other jukebox/bio projects that have been in the works for the past couple of years to be fast-tracked/greenlighted.   Jersey Boys is definitely the exception to the rule.

I mean... There's a Tina Turner project starting off-Broadway this week... That Lou Rawls project still seems to have legs...  I Can't Stop Loving You, the Ray Charles revuesical is touring next season... Etc., etc., etc...

We seem to have three things going on in the musical theater - shows based on rather current films, shows based on a song catalog, and shows by the hip Adam Guettel, Jason Robert Brown, Jeanine Tesori, Ricky Ian Gordon, and La Chiusa.  I don't care for the latter, I don't care for the jukebox stuff, and the shows based on current films range from fine to awful.  And then we have the self-referential musical, which I abhor the most.

What we need is some serious musical theater written in the classic style - good book, good score, good solid production that's not about the sound and set and light cues.  Shows like Most Happy Fella or even Bye Bye Birdie but for today - today's West Side Story, today's Gypsy, today's fill-in-the-blank.

And, finally, be sure to keep an eye on your shoes - and feet and back.  It's amazing how much a difference good shoes and good support can make during a run.  *And since you are running every day, you may also want to invest in another pair of running shoes, and alternate your shoes too.

And how is he supposed to jog AND keep an eye on his back?  That sounds very dangerous.

Further to Jose - Since you can't use the tickets, I'm going to offer them to some cousins in the DC area, or else find some way to get a tax deduction by donating them back to the theater.

The Kennedy Center always appreciates cancellations.  This way they can sell the seat again, and you still get a tax deduction.

And if so, than why is it always jacked up so high that I must wear a sweater and shiver?

For the same damn reason that in winter the heat is turned up so high that every business feels like a sauna.

I read about Meowmix House earlier today on gawker.com and of course became very excited.  I will check it out later tonight when I am at home.  A friend of ours had a coworker who had set up a website connected to her home computer video cameras so that she could watch her cats while she was at work.  I am tempted to do something similar- just to see if they cuddle when we are not around, and are just fighting out of jealousy over our attention.

A community theater we've worked with in the past is doing Gypsy this fall.  I am considering auditioning.

And one more thing about cats, in case anyone was still wondering how much of a crazy cat lady I am, and how patient Rodzinski is... a few years back Meowmix had another promotion- a restaurant for cats- that was across the street from the main library for 1 week only.  You could bring your cat who could walk around on a leash and order for them off the menu of select cat foods. I persuaded Rodzinski to go with me and Killbot.  It was Killbot's first time on a leash and she ran me ragged.  She had no interest in eating the wet catfood off of a special dish, she had no interest in meeting the other cats.  Instead she wove in and out of chairs and table legs, dragging me behind her as she explored every inch of the space.

That was the first and last time we have taken her out to eat.

There must be something in the air.  I called a friend of mine this morning for assistance in getting a rush ticket and he told me that he would be leaving his job at the end of the month.

Well... Michael John La Chiusa and Ricky Ian Gordon seemed to have turned to the world of Opera, so...

Well, they both have their pretensions but I doubt they'll have the financial success or longevity of Britten or Verdi.

Is the past tense of weave wove or weaved?  Does it matter? I think not.

Of course it matters! Both are correct.

Qibblers may take a preference depending on whether the verb is used in the transitive or non-transitive sense: they wove a tapestry, they weaved through traffic
