Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled-through, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PURLIEU!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! I've been movng about since 5:45. I have to be out of here no later than 7:45 to make my 8:30 appointment at the NYU Dental Clinic, and even then that may be too late, since getting around Manhattan is ridiculous with the MTA cutbacks on buses and trains. There's no reason this trip should take between 45 minutes to an hour, but most of the time is waiting for a vehicle to show up.
My day after I leave there depends mainly on how I feel after the dental work, which I believe will be a redo of an old filling. I do have two numbers from EILEEN, an operetta by Mr Victor Herbert, to proofread, and I have laundry.
That's my day. It's time for more coffee!

The Rodgers & Hammerstein page on Facebook has a ton of photos of the OKLAHOMA! reconstruction at the North Carolina School of the Arts. I wanna see it!

Wednesday morning greetings! I have 2 full days at home and I'm looking forward to puttering.
-
Dental vibes for DR Elmore!
-
Now I can't get Melba Moore singing "Purlie" out of my mind...
...and she's LOUD!
-
DR Elmore--ask for a gold filling. I understand it's de rigueur among all the music industry people these days.

I somewhat recall the Christine Andreas/Laurence Guittard revival going along that re-creation route, but I don't remember to what extent.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great news on "Nudie Musical," BK.
-
Dental vibes, Elmore.
-
Glad the concert was so much fun, Cillaliz.
-
I have to judge a tequila competition this afternoon. I've judged wine and beer before, but never anything stronger. This is going to be interesting, to say the least.

Oh, the Farmer and the Cowman should be friends!
Oh, the Farmer and the Cowman should be friends!
One man like to push a plow,
The other like to chase a cow...
...I ain't ever seen a man
Do the things that that man can.
Why, he can still the ev'ning breezes.
Stare the sun down
'Till it freezes...
Darn it...

Question for BK...or anybody else who knows the answer:
Where can you buy individual sheet music for older OOP songs?
Preferably in a pdf format.
It seems that, in my move to Austin, I've misplaced all of the sheet music needed for my 1-person Maurice Chevalier play.
I'm going over to my storage place in a little while to see if they're buried somewhere in there, but failing that...I've got to get new copies.
Some of the stuff will be easy to replace. In fact, I probably have them in some books that I know are in the storage space. But, several of the tunes, particularly the ones from the early Paramount movies (e.g. "What Would You Do?) are going to be difficult.
Suggestions?
Thanks.
-
The cable man is here.
That is all.
-
Now that my April travels are over, I'm going to get back into my walking routine. Today's iPod selection: Elton John's ONE NIGHT ONLY. Thanks for the concert report, DR Cillaliz!
-
Good morning and good morning!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's raining in NYC.
-
And I slept in a litte later than planned, than I should have.
-
So...
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Laters...

And the word of the day is: PURLIEU!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HERNANDO'S HIDEAWAY

Sounds like the Gardenia show will be most excellent, as usual.
My question for ASK BK DAY....are the Gardenia shows ever reviewed or written about in the local paper.....
-
I have to judge a tequila competition this afternoon. I've judged wine and beer before, but never anything stronger. This is going to be interesting, to say the least.

WISHES DR ELMORE'S DENTAL APPOINTMENT HAS GONE WELL!!

Where has DR Ginny gone ;) Ginny how much weight have you lost & are you still dropping pounds? You look great!

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......Comcast is now working.....on all stations.....and I haven't lost the signal yet!

today we are going to go look at a house my sister from Seattle is thinking about buying - here in Indiana.
I hope it's nice.

DR Jane - I've been down the basement walking with Sir Elton. After slacking off for a couple of weeks, it took a lot of effort to do my 30 minutes, but I made it. My weight-loss numbers vary, depending on which scale I use and the time of day, but I can safely say I've lost almost 30 pounds. I'm kind of stuck right now, but at least I didn't gain any during my travels. Thanks for noticing!
-
Congrats Ginny!
-
Perhaps DR Druxy, a PR pro, can explain why in heaven's name a tiny niche label's press contact would refuse to answer emails over the course of two months and also decide to stop providing review product for the site that is giving said niche label its widest audience and which can also provide sales data showing tens of thousands of units of said niche label's product sold. Oy.
-
I'm having a blast with my handy dandy new smartphone, though like any typical geezer (technical term), I had to call Verizon last night to find out why a bunch of icons were suddenly appearing on my "home screen." It turns out if you press an icon for too long it migrates to your home screen. You can get rid of them by holding them down on your home screen and dragging them to the trash icon. Who knew? (Probably Jose). ;)

Great pic DR CILLA LIZ....and I am assuming you agree with the review!

Yes, I am back from the Dental Clinic and I ache from jaw to jaw. The unpleasant surprise was that I had to pay for all four fillings in full; it is not one of the procedures that will permit installment payments. I am now $380 overdrawn, but I think my invoice check will arrive before the clinic's check lands inmy bank.

It's a fun score (with the exception of "Big Fish, Little Fish" which seems to go on forever.)
PURLIE was the first B'way show I attended. (My parents claimed otherwise, but it's the first one I remember.)

I loved that video. "Purlie" seemed like it played forever in the early days of cable. Is the whole show available on DVD?

To answer my own question: Amazon has a used videotape of "Purlie" for $207. No DVD.

Back from the urologist. My 80-year-old doctor is back after having had a heart attack in November 2010. He looks good if a bit "preserved".
Since I had some complaints, he "went in" with rubber gloves and Surgilube. He was busy back there for what seemed a long time, but probably only 45-55 seconds. He said the good news was that he felt no nodules. The "other" news was that the prostate seems a bit inflamed to him. So...antibiotics for a week or so and then more PSA tests in June and July.
Sigh.
-
Ron Pulliam, I hope the antibiotics does the trick and that's all you need.

Healthy prognosis vibes to dear DR Ron P.

They were stuck inside a book inside a sealed box along with a bunch of other sheets of paper.

1. I would have to know the name of the label in order to comment without speculating. [Send me a private e-mail on that, if you prefer.]
2. Perhaps they've got a new person/company handling press for them, and he/she is making changes. [After many years, Bender, Helper Impact no longer represents Fox.]
3. Perhaps they're cutting expenses. [Both Paramount and Universal cut their review lists 1-2 years ago.]

Well, if I die today, blame the vicodin. My mouth is killing me now the anesthesia has worn off so I thought I'd see what was in the medicine cabinet. I had two tablets of vicodin left so without reading the label, I took both of them. Then I got all pancky and called US Poison Control. The man asked me the dosage and told me I will get very drowsy. He didn't start screaming for an ambulnce or anything so I guess I'll sweat it out.

DR Elmore - please keep us posted...

Rob and Mary Linda's wedding is 4 months from today. Richard and I weren't even engaged yet (but close...).

DR Elmore - please keep us posted...

I think things will be fine.

Ron Pulliam, I hope the antibiotics does the trick and that's all you need.

T the Farmer's Market I picked up a local endor's jar of " Backyard Country Apricot Mustard" - (mystard seed, brown sugar, cider vinegar, apricot jam, and herbs). Sounds like it will make a great glaze for the wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon we bought.
Woody mixed some with olive oil and blasamic vinegar and made a splendid dressing for chilled greens.

Back from a fun sound check - I think we'll have a nice attendance tonight, at least I hope so after the alarming report of yesterday - and speaking of alarming report, I came home to an e-mail asking if I could confirm that former dear reader William E. Lurie had died in 2010. Certainly he hasn't been to the site in ages - can someone search and see when his last post was? I asked the guy to let me know if he's heard or hears anything concrete. He did order Promises, Promises back in June of 2010 so he was certainly alive then.

George beat me to it! I don't understand why you couldn't check member status and his last post, BK. Are you too excited about tonight? Break a leg!
His last post was Sept 20, 2008. He hasn't posted on the Cast Recording List in ages, but his posts there were usually misguided, misinformed, and nearly always negative. I found him an unpleasant man.
-
I just caught up and I must get the phone!
-
I've sent Max Preeo an inquiry. Perhaps castrecl has been alerted to the situation.
-
He occasionally in the past would log on and read but not post anything. Perhaps if he's lurking, he'll see my comments and log on to yell at me.
-
I used to receive regular emails from him, but he has not sent me one in some time.....
-
I just received this from Max Preeo:
A few months ago, I got a castrecl administrator message that William Lurie's subscription had been cancelled. I emailed his address to ask why and got a message from his brother that he had passed away.
-
I truly hope DR William E. Lurie is able to come yell at you DR elmore. :)

I don't. I didn't like him. He came to THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X at NYMF with his partner and stayed aloof from the HHW folk who were there, as I recall. DR Ben pointed him out to me.
He was a thoroughly unpleasant man on the Cast Recording List, spreading negativity, misguidedly blaming organizations and people about matters in which he knew nothing, from the Cole Porter Trust's and Rodgers & Hammerstein's involvement in productions to other matters, and very often misinformed: his epic post was to bitch about the new movie NEW MOON; he had fears about the 1928 Sigmund Romberg operetta getting mangled in a remake: the movie he was complaining about was the vampire film based on the "Twilight"(?) series. He appeared clueless but emphatically right.
DR Jose, in my rush to get out this morning, I forgot to address your last round of BOYS FROM SYRACUSE questions. The published vocal score and the rental materials are based on the 1968(?) London production of the 1964 Off-Broadway revival. There were substantial changes made to the libretto and the music, and this versions been the one leased for the last 30 years.
I know that the R&H Theatre Library would like to finish the 1938 restoration and make it available. Right now it's only rentable in special circumstances. I think they've got an uncorrected photocopy of the lost piano-conductor score that was made for Encores! They'd have to copy a new score from scratch. Perhaps when they finish the restoration of TOO MANY GIRLS . . .

I gave in.
I turned on the AC. It is 86 degrees in the house.
It is set for 150 days.

It is set for 150 days.
You must have a very unique timing system.
-
150 is the max, I believe. We'll have to set it for another 25 after that, probably.
-
That new thermostat is so difficult to read. I don't always like all those newfangled things.
-
Ron, I had chronic problems like you're suffering until my doctor put me on one of the "famous" medicines for reduction of this particular gland. Haven't had an "attack" since.
-
That post reminds me of a dinner party Betsy and I went to where the entire conversation was about aches and pains and various bodily functions, at which point one guy said, "Oy, this really is a dinner with nothing but over 50 Jews." :)
-
Great pic DR CILLA LIZ....and I am assuming you agree with the review!
Yes, I agree. It was fabulous! LOUD, but fabulous
-
When the movie first came out in the 70s, I thought the name of the film was THE TAKING OF PHLEGM 123. I thought it was one of the strangest titles ever.

DR elmore I only meant I hoped he was alive to respond to your comment he could come yell at you. I wasn't making a comment at all as to your personal dislike of him. I did include a smiley face.

I'm happy the concert was a big hit. Was it sold out?
There may have been a very few stray single seats here and there, but I'd call it a sell out.

150 is the max, I believe. We'll have to set it for another 25 after that, probably.
Is that a state thing?

DR elmore I only meant I hoped he was alive to respond to your comment he could come yell at you. I wasn't making a comment at all as to your personal dislike of him. I did include a smiley face.
That's okay. I've gone through various "moods" about, and occasional battles with, various DRs, but I generally like everyone who posts here except for William Lurie. I was happy when he stopped posting. I never wished him dead, though, just somewhere else. And now he is.

CHECK ARRIVING QUICKLY VIBES TO DR ELMORE!!!

I wish William Orr would come back. And Rodzinski. and MattH. And singdaw.

CHECK ARRIVING QUICKLY VIBES TO DR ELMORE!!!
Thanks! I sent the invoice on Friday, he should have received it on Monday, and if he mailed a check on Tuesday, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, hopefully, or Friday. I'd prefer tomorrow! I think we settled the payment tsuris last week in the 6-hour meeting.

Did you ever meet or had a chance to work with Jackie Cooper.?
You'd have thought I'd have met him in my TV years, but I never did.
-
I forgot to mention, DR cillaliz, what a fantastic photo that was! I was going to download it for my "friends file" of photos, but I couldn't take it off the newspaper's page. When DR edisaurus - where is she these days? - was working on the birthday DVD for BK, I was happy I had a photo in my files of the late Richard Valley to send to her for inclusion.

Help!
Does any DR have a CD of the show WORKING so that they can make me a copy? I had the cassette - but it is missing, and I would like to have a copy for a friend who is doing the show in November.

Are you sure you're not confusing him with William F. Orr and his partner Joe who has terrible health problems? I don't recall any posts about a sickly partner from Lurie.

I am confused then. Which one is friend's with DR Vixmom? I thought it was the one without the partner Joe.

William F. Orr is the friend of DR vixmom.
Thanks. Then I just mixed up who went with Joe. William F. Orr is a nice guy & I do miss his posts. I really only mixed up which one belonged with Joe. I remember meeting Orr in NY.

Although Paul looks really goofy in this shot.

This is perfect timing as I was about to hunt for the photo. :) It is nice. You both look very happy.

It is very cute of you.
-
anyone see the movie "Stepping Out" with Shelly Winters, Ellen Greene, Jane Krakowski, Julie Walters, Andrea Martin and others
-
I was talking on the phone with my mother and scrolling through the posts (shh, don't tell her...). It's always a shock when we learn of the death of a DR. Being a reference librarian, I searched the Social Security Death Index and found that a William Lurie of Queens, NY, who was born in 1942 died on July 2, 2010.
-
I was looking over Mr Lurie's posts back to 2004, and I was surprised to fnd them much less negative than I remembered, and I was wrong. I could find nothing about a sickly partner, though.
I guess a lot of my dislike for him stems from his cast recording list posts.
-
Now I can't get Melba Moore singing "Purlie" out of my mind...
...and she's LOUD!
LOL! (Laughing out LOUD!)
Here's Melba Moore in PURLIE: Was she a precursor to American Idol, I wonder? The encore is especially thrilling, though!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oFZV7fAbaE
I loved that video. "Purlie" seemed like it played forever in the early days of cable. Is the whole show available on DVD?
I think I prefer Ms. Moore's version before she found out she was a star.

Speaking of social security, I need to go down to an office and register soon.

I remember the name Joe well. It is the two Williams with middle initials I found confusing. I remembered Orr in Long Island was who I met as he is friend's with Vixmom.

You're right!! I love my hat, it has pink braiding and pink sequins...

I will shortly be on my way to the Gardenia. I did a three and a half mile jog today - I'll eat lightly at the club then go out for something a bit more substantial after the show.

If you OD, we will send Mikey to revive you.

Rob and Mary Linda's wedding is 4 months from today. Richard and I weren't even engaged yet (but close...).
Keith and I had been married 12 years & had two children before the age Bryan was when he got married. I am not happy about this great delay in giving me grandchildren. Bryan doesn't even want them. Poor Craig wants children very much.

I realize that I am probably the last person to ever hear this before, but oh well!
HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!
"May the Fourth be with you"
-
Nice hat DR CILLA LIZ.
The DVD shall be on its way anon DR TCB. After a quick re-viewing, it seems that some footage from the 1943 German version was used.
-
That looks interesting DR GEORGE.
-
Cilla - I am beyond jealous that you got to see Sir Elton- I have always wanted to see one of his concerts but even the nose bleed seats are beyond my means = the scalpers grab all the tickets and you need to sell your last licorice all sort to get one after they get their grubby little paws on them
-
I am about ready to head for bed. I think it's more the fact that I was up at 5:45 am and not the vicodin knocking me out. There was a lot of lip pulling and cheek pawing to get to four teeth today, so I suspect my teeth, fillings, and gums will not ache tomorrow but everything else will.
-
Would anybody here have a MP3 file of Al Jolson's 1920 recording of "Swanee," which is in the public domain?
I need it for a project I'm working on.
It must be the scratchy 1920 recording.
Thanks.
-
Can't we get rid of BETTER WITH YOU? or at least get the show better writers?
What is BETTER WITH YOU? I only watch reruns of BONES and LAW & ORDER and the Housewives of You Name It.
I comes on between THE MIDDLE and MODERN FAMILY and is the CAROLINE IN THE CITY/SUDDENLY SUSAN of this season.
I thought it was closer to being this season's YES DEAR.
-
Nice hat DR CILLA LIZ.

Thanks! The DVD sounds very interesting...

I can't quote or go to page nine. I'll try posting to get there.
4th attempt.

Thanks, I think I may have gotten the photo let's see if this works
It did! It's in my file. Good photo.
I tried to copy it, but it said it couldn't find the file.

You're not...I have never read nor heard this before.

That's him. I remember he lived in Queens.
Where does one find the Social Security Death Index? It sounds like a great place to play.
Most big city newspapers have a link to the Death Index. I use it at work all the time.
-
DR CILLA LIZ - if you would like a somewhat troublesome DVD copy, I would be glad to send it along to you as well. PM your sail mail.

Marian Mercer did pass away on April 27. Here is a notice from the Times
Marian Mercer, a willowy actress with a comedic flair who won a Tony Award in 1969 for her performance in the hit musical “Promises, Promises,” died on April 27 in Newbury Park, Calif. She was 75 and lived in Agoura Hills, Calif.

Leo Friedman
Marian Mercer with Jerry Orbach in "Promises, Promises," in 1969.
The cause was complications of Alzheimer’s disease, her husband, Patrick Hogan, said.
Ms. Mercer, a 5-foot-9 blonde with green eyes and, when necessary, a sultry voice, won the Tony for best featured actress in a musical for her portrayal of Marge MacDougall, a pickup girl at Clancy’s Lounge.
“She’s giving one of the most delicious performances on Broadway, a B-girl who would rather die than have you think she’s cheap, as she deftly maneuvers herself into Jerry Orbach’s apartment, looking forward to bed,” The New York Times said.
But Ms. Mercer could handle more weighty characters. Among dozens of roles in repertory theaters around the country, she was Olivia in “Twelfth Night,” Helena in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Blanche in “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
In the 1978 Broadway production of “Stop the World — I Want to Get Off ,” Ms. Mercer starred with Sammy Davis Jr., playing the four different women in his life with a mix of song, comedy and even mime.
Ms. Mercer’s zany streak led to frequent television appearances with the likes of Johnny Carson, Jonathan Winters and Dom DeLuise. She was seen on “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Archie Bunker’s Place” and “The Golden Girls,” among many other shows. And on ABC from 1980 through 1982 (and later in syndication) she played the humorless hostess, Nancy Beebe, on “It’s a Living,” a sitcom that followed the lives of waitresses working in an expensive restaurant atop a hotel in Los Angeles.
Marian Ethel Mercer was born in Akron, Ohio, on Nov. 26, 1935, one of five children of Samuel and Nellie Mercer.
Besides her husband of 31 years, she is survived by her sister, Marjorie Keith, and a daughter, Deidre Whitaker. Her first marriage, to Martin Cassidy, an actor she met soon after coming to New York in 1957, ended in divorce.
She was 8 when she began singing lessons, a passion she pursued at the University of Michigan. There she also began acting, taking roles in summer stock theater. She moved to New York in 1957 and, after stints as a model, a hostess at Schrafft’s restaurant and a file clerk, was cast in the choruses of “Greenwillow” and “Fiorello!”
Her big break came in 1961 when she took over the title role in Rick Besoyan‘s Off Broadway hit “Little Mary Sunshine,” a spoof of old-fashioned operettas and musicals.

You would have enjoyed watching the scalper try to sell tickets outside the arena last night. First a security guard walked up and told him he couldn't sell anything on city property without a permit (the whole block is city property) he was arguing about just wanting to know the rules and where could he go....there really wasn't anywhere where people would be walking past. As we reached the door I saw two police men moving in his direction. Not sure who got the tickets, but I'm sure he didn't make much

If you OD, we will send Mikey to revive you.
He'd let me die and spend the visit trying to lure desperate men of Mediterranean aspect up to the fire escape.
I have this vision of a really bad bus & truck WEST SIDE STORY. After all, Mikey is a 14 year-old girl trapped in an old older man's body!
No. He would like to be trapped in an older man's body.

Gosh - I don't even remember a television series called It's A Living!
I used to like that show...at one point, the title was changed to "Making a Living."

When the movie first came out in the 70s, I thought the name of the film was THE TAKING OF PHLEGM 123. I thought it was one of the strangest titles ever.
Now I understand WHY you made this comment out of nowhere. ;D
Sometimes that's the only explanation for his comments! :)
Not to those who read BK's notes every day!
-
Never mind. Elmore beat me to it :-*
-
I converted them to jpeg files.

BK will come back and see the number of posts and plotz. Simply plotz.

I just got back from the Social Security Death Index (how morbid am I).
My parents are both listed (yes, they are dead) and my cousin, who died when he was 27 in 1979.
It's kind of spooky!
-
Though not everyone who died is listed. A dear friend who died in 1988 is not in the database.
-
Well, this has been fun! Bbut I need to leave work, go home and do some laundry. I keep saying that and then I don't do the darned laundry. But tonight, I must!
:P
Be back later!

As long as you're not listed DR Ben then everthing should be ok
That's why I read the obituaries every day.
-
Okay! I'm off to bed.
Good night, everyone!
-
I received my WHERE EAGLES DARE Blu Ray in the mail today.
One of my favorite music of all. I watch it least once a month.
I even developed a drinking game. You take a shot of schnapps every time someone dies. I think with the death toll in this film you can go through at least a bottle
-
My Mom used to say she read the obituaries every morning to make sure she hadn't died in her sleep. SLC is famous for some of the most outre (Mormon) obituaries ever, which my dear departed mother used to cut out of the paper and send to me at regular intervals. Such was entertainment in the Kauffman family.
-
I am very sorry that WEL has passed away. They say that the good die young; so if they have already gotten to WEL, I could be nixt!
If the saying were true that the good die young, you should have died some time around the crusades.
You first!

Can't we get rid of BETTER WITH YOU? or at least get the show better writers?
What is BETTER WITH YOU? I only watch reruns of BONES and LAW & ORDER and the Housewives of You Name It.

Not as much as the good ole days!
I didn't mean performing!

Remember, DR Elmore, your high school friend may not have had a SSN. I didn't get mine until I was a teenager and starting my college applications.
-
This has been a somewhat stressful day. I had to deal with the niche label I alluded to this morning, which it turns out was nothing more/less than a completely incompetent PR hack (no offense, Druxy). And there was a bit of work stress, too, but I think everything is resolved. It is actually quite hot and muggy in the Land of Port this evening. I must hie me to a cool, breezy place, wherever that might be.
-
But before I go, just to give BK something to rant about when he returns:

Watching "Funny Girl" for the first time in ages. I was never a fan of this movie and on my TV, Streisand's voice sounds disembodied. Yet, I'm enjoying more of it than I have before. And Anne Francis, with nothing to do, is charming.

Night all....
-
Good night!
-
Good Evening!
So...
Here's my day in a nutshell:
-I walked in the rain.
-I ate steak.
-I ate soup.
-I ate cookies.
-I rode in an ice cream truck.
-I ate stinky tofu.
-I made 300 2 oz. portions of Ginger-Curry Milkshakes.
And now I'm, thankfully, off of my feet, and catching up.
-
And now that I've caught up...
-
~~~~~GOOD PROSTATE VIBES TO DR RON PULLIAM~~~~~
-
~~~~~NON-ACHEY, NON-DRUGGED-OUT VIBES TO DR ELMORE~~~~~
-
DR elmore - Thanks for the further info on Boys from Syracuse. I shall share it with, well... That's still TBA. ;)
-
So sorry to hear about the passings of Jackie Cooper and Marian Mercer.
-
And what a weird(?) way to find out about the death of William E. Lurie.
-
DR Cillaliz - Nice pics. Nice hat.
-
DR DerBrucer - HELLO!
-
So...
I went headed back to the James Beard Foundation "Pop-Up" in Chelsea Market, JBF LTD (http://popup.jamesbeard.org/), earlier today for a couple of events.
First up was a "Steak Tasting". They had four different types of beef to sample. It was quite informative. And delicious. It was cool getting to try different types of beef side-by-side. -And since there weren't that many people there, most of us in attendance ended up being able to have a nice portion. :)
Then April Bloomfield and her chefs de cuisine from The Breslin prepared a Spring Soup. Beans (three types, sunchokes, asparagus, ramps, spring garlic, broccoli raab, shallots, some salt and some olive oil. It was quite yummy! -And, again, since there weren't that many people in attendance, well... :)
And, then finally, Emily Luchetti, author of "Fearless Baking", gave a talk about common mistakes made by home bakers. At the end of her presentation, she brought out her "3:00 PM Chocolate Pick-Me-Up Cookies". About six dozen of them. And there were only about 20 people there, so... :) *I should have brought a small box or bag. But I did manage to have four of them. ::)
-
And then Doug came and picked me up in the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, and we headed to DUMBO for the Lucky Rice Night Market. It was a fun event. Lots of different types of Asian food, as well as lots of beer, sake and gin. -I was not in the mood to imbibe tonight. In any case...
I did try the stinky tofu. It wasn't bad. -Although, each time that particular kiosk would drop a new batch of stinky tofu into their deep-fryers, the most "amazing" smell would just start wafting through the air.
And, yes, I made and poured 300 2 oz. portions of Ginger-Curry Milkshakes for the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. They were a hit! -And once we hit 300, Doug, said I was done for the evening, so I got a good hour to walk around to taste some more food. :)
-
*One of my favorite finds was a line of bottled drinks from Prometheus Springs (http://www.prometheussprings.com/). They have a Lychee-Wasabi drink that really woke up my tastebuds! -Their Pomegranate-Black Pepper was really good too.
-
~~~~~STAY COOL VIBES TO DRS LAURA AND SANDRA~~~~~
And...
Since I have to be up in six hours...
Goodnight.
-
Gratuitous Post #350! :D
-
Laundry is done for the night and the TV has been watched.
-
And now...to bed.
I must. 8)
Good night.
-
I can't read the Variety article - I see it for about a second then it tells me I have to join - I've attempted to do so many times but it never takes.
Back from a really fun show and I shall now write the notes.
