Topic of the Day: I've never Skyped or Face Timed. I did Google Meet one time for a Mamma Mia! rehearsal, but otherwise I've Zoomed for all my online work meetings. I think they got Zoom because it can handle a lot more participants than other apps. The meeting that I went to on Thursday had 151 people! They just had to make sure that EVERYONE's microphone was muted unless they wanted to speak.

Fortunately, the person hosting the Zoom meeting could mute everyone, and then whoever wanted to speak could just unmute themselves.

Today, I'm going back to my parents' house and for probably only the third time since the quarantining happened, the whole family will be together. We used to have dinner together just about every week, so this will be nice.

Today I need to drag out the Big Ladder and put away a lot of cat food. I also need a corner mailbox and bodega run for a few things, and then I don't plan to leave the apartment for the remainder of the day.

When I was in LA in 2006 with The Brain From Planet X, Roger, the friend with whom I was staying, would skype me while I was working in the mornings to check in with me. I wouldn't know how to use it now and don't care to know.

DR George, Tom Lehrer and I became friends over the dreadful City Opera mess of Candide. He had seen every version and perversion since the 1956 original, and we both thought - and I still think - the 1958 London version was the best of all possible Candides. I had never realized until you printed out the lyrics to "I Got It From Agnes" just how much it owed to John Latouche;s lyrics for "Ringaroundarosy."

Long before I ever found a 1958 London playbill for Candide, I had a photocopy from Tom. He's 92 now, and I hope he's in good health.
