Well I have now heard EVERYTHING....EVERYTHING, I tell you.  You New York people are just too much.

DR ELMORE is re-arranging his furniture for the workers....I bet even DR MBARNUM didn't re-arrange his furniture for the Maytag Washer Repair Man.

New Yorkers are just such fabulous people!

Kind of a nice quiet Sunday for some of us.....which was nice.  Cold rain.  I just bid on a couple of DR JMK's DVD's.

Neither one was Visions of Ireland....although my ancestor, Thomas Stanley was Marshal of Ireland for many years....back in the day.

And of course...it was Thomas who helped put Henry VII on the throne which started the Tudor period that is the subject of the popular television series.

DR Jane, re: DEXTER, I said after the first episode that i wasn't sure if i liked it and that i liked DAMAGES better.

But it is growing on me. And i find i like it more and more every week. I really think the character of dexter is like nobody i've seen on tv. And i like the humor they add into the show. It's growing on me!

I am continuing to enjoy John Adams.  Yes, I broke down and ordered HBO again. I'm cutting back my Netflix and may cancel for awhile. If only the cable bill hadn't gone up...

Wow--I stepped away to watch yet more Bette Davis and came back and see that JR and I think even DR Edisaurus have bid on some stuff.  Thanks.  I'll give you HHWers your choice of a free DVD that doesn't sell (which I'm assuming there will be) of your choice as your bonus.  :)

I abandoned John Adams and The Tudors tonight for Miss austen and SENSE & SENSIBILITY. I think I still prefer the Ang Lee film, but this has excellent moments, some good casting, and it is certainly much closer to the novel.

Tomorrow afternoon, if the plastering is accomplished, I'll watch either The Tudors or Mr Adams.  Thank God for Showtme and HBO on Demand.

and so, to bed.

I had a fun evening of entertaining viewing. I began by finishing the Miss Marple mystery NEMESIS. The DVDs were taken from old tape masters, so they look pretty awful, but I'm glad to have them and continue to enjoy them every time I haul out one to watch.

Next, I put in THE LAST STARFIGHTER on HD-DVD. I haven't seen this film since I reviewed it way back in 1984 for the newspaper syndicate that employed me. It was nice revisiting it, and I didn't remember a whole lot about it. Yes, the special effects are cartoonish in the extreme (one of the earliest examples of computer graphics), but it's still a lot of fun.

I had about 25 minutes before the 9 p.m. shows started, so I watched the "making of" documentary on the HD-DVD of THE LAST STARFIGHTER. Only got a little more than halfway through it, but the grown up cast and crew had nice words to say about Robert Preston, and there was some behind-the-scenes stuff filmed that they showed of him getting into make-up and playing certain scenes. How lovely to see him again.

I had decided to watch COLD CASE "live" and record JOHN ADAMS and THE TUDORS. Of course, no sooner do I get to CBS than I see BIG BROTHER is still on, so obviously a basketball game must have run late. Rats!

I waited 9 minutes and then just switched over to NBC-HD to see a LAW & ORDER repeat, the one about the poison toothpaste. It was a good episode, so I didn't mind seeing it again.

I have a question.  I'm going to have some time while I'm in NYC to see a couple shows.  I am thinking about going to see CURTAINS one more time, just because I really want to. But I'm not sure what else to go to.  I'm thinking maybe 2 shows, but it may be more.  The first two nights I'll be at the Marriott Downtown, and will probably be doing the NACDL stuff there is a possibility I may be availble to do something Friday night, but that's up in the air. So I'm thinking Sat and Sun which means 2 or three shows max.

So, I'm looking for suggestions.. I'll put it this way. If there was only one show you could see between May 1-5 what would it be?

When it was over, I switched over to the DVR and watched THE TUDORS (which had been my plan all along for the 10 p.m. hour).

Very nice season premiere episode with plots and counterplots going on. They've added a couple of new gorgeous men to the cast, always a pleasure.

Hmm... Well, the four I'd pick from would be:

In the Heights
Gypsy
Passing Strange
Sunday in the Park with George

Although, if you can snag a ticket to the Patrick Stewart Macbeth....

Cilla - If you're thinking musicals, I'd suggest IN THE HEIGHTS, among the new musicals.  The story is a little preposterous at (rare) times, but what an exciting show.

If you want something Greenwich Villagey and funky, and if you don't mind a show being a real downer as long as it's brilliant, I'd suggest off-Broadway's ADDING MACHINE.  Discounts are sure to be had, but I thought it was a slit-your-wrists dramatic musical gem.  And it features the excellent Joe Farrell, whom some may remember from TRADING SPACES FAMILY.
