Haines His Way

I just got it a few weeks ago at Club Price of all places (they had a booth). There I only got a J, a pink heart, and a diamond and purple birth type stones. But last week some women told me about getting charms on ebay. I did buy two there that I haven't received.  My aunt who got a charm watch for X-mas is excited because she won a 50 charm lot on ebay.I cannot wait to see that (even though they will not all be for me).

It sounds like a pretty bracelet.  I think finding the right charms can become a fun addiction.

I've picked out a cute little cottage in Studio City just south of Ventura. For Sale by Owner. Should be a steal at $800,000. That will be perhaps the first purchase with my winnings. Then there's the computer and TV we promised Cousin TCB...

Our lotto is up to a mere $17 mil.  Chump change when divided by the five in our department but I put in my dollar anyway.  I also have my own ticket.

I've been playing the same numbers in the  Florida lotto since it started.  On my birthday, no less.   I have yet to win anything over $50.00 but I hope that this year will be the big one!

 

Now in the DVD player waiting for me is disc 2 of SMALLVILLE.  Maybe I should be watching BABYLON 5 since my neighbor directed a number of the episodes.  Well almost neighbor.  First she has to build a house.

Well, my dinner tonight consisted of the rest of the pint of the B&J's Half-Baked I bought (and ate) last night.  My breakfast/late lunch was quite filling, and I wasn't in the mood to go out again for some food - and just wasn't in the mood for a full meal.  So... ice cream it was!  

I got some vacuuming done earlier - lots of dust bunnies in the hallway, and I did some scrubbing in the bathroom too.  As for the unpacking and other stuff in my bedroom, I've decided to make that my project tomorrow.  I think the easiest thing to take care of first - and one that will make quite a big difference - will be the bundling of the back issues of all the various magazines in my room: The New Yorker (those special rate subscription offers are just too good to pass up sometimes), This Old House, etc.  I also have tons of out of date catalogs that I need to get rid of.  Thankfully, our local recycling program takes magazines and other forms of glossy paper!  I just need to make a run to the hardware store to get some twine to do the bundling.  There are various piles of stuff around my room, and if I can make some headway with those, then that will be a good start to my "sort and purge" project.

I also gave my new paper shredder a try.  WHEEEE!!  It's fun!  And it really is stylish too!  And I already had my first "oops" - I shredded the envelope I'm supposed to send my payment back in.  Easily remedied.

Oh, the lottery!  I meant to go out and get a Mega-Millions ticket today! -Even though someone won the other night.  -And that poor lady who said she won... Very sad.

And, I think it was DR George who posted the link about that aluminum foil prank... On the 4:00 news here, they had footage of the prank.  WOW!!!  Those guys were thorough!  Each sheld, each book, each DVD, each pamphlet, his car(!)... and then there was the roll of toilet paper that was wrapped in foil... the actually took the time to unroll a roll and then wrap foil around the toilet paper!  WOW!

20th century - will become available on DVD for the very first time April 6 from
Warner Home Video (WHV).

In celebration of its 60th Anniversary, the fan-favorite Meet Me in St. Louis,
nominated for four Academy Awards®, is the main attraction in this collection of
wonderful titles. This Two-Disc Special Edition is the third release to
undergo Warner Bros. Pictures' proprietary "Ultra-Resolution" process, giving
today's viewers the most extraordinary presentation possible for this classic
musical. Meet Me in St. Louis, directed by the great Vincente Minnelli
(especially known for his unique use of Technicolor), has benefited greatly with
an improved fully remastered picture derived from newly-restored film elements.
In addition, the release features a new digital audio track that has been
remixed to Dolby Digital 5.1 from original multi-channel pre-production music
source elements. The DVD contains the original mono track as well. Also
featured is an all-new introduction by Liza Minnelli, daughter of star Judy
Garland and director Vincente Minnelli.

The four other Garland classics, all digitally remastered, include For Me and My
Gal with Gene Kelly, In the Good Old Summertime with Van Johnson, Love Finds
Andy Hardy with Mickey Rooney, and Ziegfeld Girl with Jimmy Stewart, Lana
Turner, and Hedy Lamarr. All five titles are brimming with extra features such
as extensive commentaries, vintage shorts, "making of" documentaries, radio
programs, original trailers and more. Meet Me in St. Louis Two-Disc Special
Edition is priced at $26.99 SRP, while the others are priced at $19.98 SRP.

The Ultra-Resolution Process
The popular Meet Me in St. Louis is presented in Warner Bros. Pictures' dazzling
"Ultra-Resolution," which allows today's viewers to see parts of the images that
were not visible previously and in sharper detail than conventional Technicolor
release prints. Warner Bros. introduced this process with the release of Singin
' in the Rain in the fall of 2002 followed by The Adventures of Robin Hood this
past summer. According to Rob Hummel, Warner Bros. Studios Senior Vice
President of Technical Operations, "'Ultra-Resolution' continues to be improved
each time out and Meet Me in St. Louis is just spectacular."

More than seventy years after the introduction of Technicolor, Warner Bros.
Studios is employing the "Ultra-Resolution" process that begins with scanning
the original Technicolor 3-strip black and white 'records' at extremely high
(2k) resolution. The black and white records are then combined electronically
to create the color images, which are also electronically re-registered,
steadied and cleaned before the final DVDs are produced.

Meet Me in St. Louis

In a role that was one of her favorites, a 22-year-old Judy Garland headlines
this warm turn-of-the-century delight presented for the first time on DVD. Set
in 1903, this captivating musical is a slice of Americana about the Smith family
's experiences during the year of the St. Louis World's Fair. Directed by
Vincente Minnelli (whom Garland married soon after filming, later becoming
parents to daughter Liza), Judy Garland has perhaps never been more winning as
she pines for "The Boy Next Door," comforts seven-year-old Margaret O'Brien
(awarded a special Oscar® as 1944's outstanding child actress) with "Have
Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and whisks along to the clang-clang-clang of
"The Trolley Song."

Directed by the legendary Busby Berkeley, For Me and My Gal features a trunkful
of tunes in this story about a Vaudeville couple determined to play The Palace
in New York. Gene Kelly made his film debut and teamed with Judy Garland for the
first time in this romantic tale that bucks tough times and World War I on the
way to show biz success. The two stars make their way through a hit parade of

Love Finds Andy Hardy is the fourth film in the series and finds Andy (Mickey
Rooney) frantically trying to juggle two girlfriends (Ann Rutherford and Lana
Turner) at the same time. It's the new kid next-door (Judy Garland in the first
of three fondly remembered Andy Hardy appearances) who helps Andy out of his jam
and sings such delightful songs as "In Between," "It Never Rains But What It
Pours" and "Meet the Beat of My Heart."

OH!  And what a lovely evening at HOME I'm having right now...

After my little cleaning jaunt, and then a nice long, hot shower, and my half-pint of ice cream dinner, I settled in front of the TV.  What a nice night of TV so far: "Trading Spaces Family" (with a "nightmare" set-up: Hildy AND Kia!!!), "While You Were Out", a new episode of "Absolutely Fabulous" (finally something on the Oxygen channel I like watching - well, there's also that Talk Sex program - although I prefer the old lady on Leno ;-))

And best of all, I'm breaking in some of the Christmas gifts to myself.  On my feet I'm wearing a pair of red, duck down-filled "foot duvets", and around my shoulders, I have a blue/green/plaid duck down-filled "lap duvet".  -Both from Restoration Hardware.  Very nice and toasty - and perfect for sitting on the couch, with my laptop in my lap, while posting on here on HHW and watching "What Not To Wear".  

Hmmm.. Maybe I'll make a hot toddy later!?  Or a hot buttered rum?!?
