Well, you've read the notes, the notes walked on by, and now it is time for you to post until the house is not a home cows come home - I love their rendition of Are You There (With Another Cow).
-
And the word of the day is: TRIUMPHANT!
-
First post after BK!
-
I have always loved Miss Warwick, especially when she was singing Burt and Hal.
-
I can’t claim to have had all of her albums, but I had quite a few.
-
I never had any of her albums, but I always enjoyed her songs when I heard them on the radio.
-
Surprisingly, I have never purchased any of her CD’s.
-
Surprisingly, I have never purchased any of her CD’s.
It's never too late. ;)
-
The same can be said about Vikki Carr. I purchased a number of her albums, but have never bought a single (or double) CD.
-
Good night.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Well, I need to go to bed, too. Today, all the libraries of the system where I work will be closed for our annual All Staff Training Retreat. Everyone (who chooses to go) gets together and we have speakers and break-out sessions and it's completely useless for most of us at the administrative headquarters.
-
This year I got my 30 years in, so I'm getting recognized along with everyone else celebrating a five-year anniversary. And lunch and lunch time is paid, so there's that. ;)
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly last night. Little Thatch stayed with me all night, but I have no idea where Annabelle slept.
-
This is another Joshie day and it looks like another wet day as well.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Definitely an indoors at-home day for moi. Got music to work on, and some work around the house to do. Then auditions again this evening
-
I haven’t listened to Dionne or even much Burt and Hal in years. It would probably do me some good to rectify that.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept eight hours last night. I want more
-
Good morning to all
-
I have two CD set of Dionne Warwick's Original Hits 1962-1972 of the 28 songs on it 26 are by Bacharach and David. (The other two are The Theme From The Valley of Dolls and You Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. I listen to it a lot.
-
That sounds like a nice CD DR MICHAEL.
-
Feel better vibes for DR TCB.
Retreat vibes for DR GEORGE.
NO HELL vibes for MR BK.
-
I like all of the songs mentioned in the notes today EXCEPT "A House is Not a Home" - to me, the lyrics are just stupid....but there you are....
-
Last night the cast was most excellent....the few folks who came to watch....must have been asleep....a laugh here and there....
-
No HELL. HELL, no.
-
I just trotted this out recently
A visit with “Doc” Simon, wildly imagining when Kristin Chenoweth's character needed “Promises Promises” script surgery (they added "say a Little Prayer" and "House is Not a Home" to make Fran's part equal to Chuck)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4srdnbhOYs4
-
and this one just sort of found few views, though I like it, as it's a parody that really makes fun of no one person, just a weird quirk about star-driven vehicles this decade, that star shows often die when the star goes
"Knowing When to Close"

-
Jrand, years later, thanks for being the stalwart one comment under that "Doc" Simon - Kristin one!
-
John, I love Philadelphia Story.
-
Don't get sick vibes for TCB.
-

Congratulations.

8 hours sounds heavenly.
-
My painful sore throat is now just a normal uncomfortable cold throat. I am soooo relieved.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Yesterday I did some AAUW errands and had a nice lunch with my sister-in-law Jayne. By the time I got home, Richard and Mary Linda had left for her 2nd post-op appointment with the podiatrist. She came home without stitches and with permission to wear shoes, as tolerated. We all had a pizza dinner and then she left for a church meeting, finally able to drive herself. Rob is feeling much better after several days of antibiotics, but I'm glad he doesn't have to go to work until Friday evening.
-
I was also texting off and on yesterday with my other sister-in-law Kathy about their son Chris and his family. They're just settling into Kyra's new Air Force assignment at Langley AFB in Virginia and have evacuated to her parents' home in Philadelphia to avoid Hurricane Florence. Of course, they were supposed to close on their new house Friday, but that's postponed and they're hoping it's not under water when they return.
-
I have always loved Miss Warwick, especially when she was singing Burt and Hal.
Me, too.
My contribution to this conversation is a grizzly bit of trivia. Some of you may have heard of Beverly Hills Supper Club (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beverly_Hills_Supper_Club_fire), which was in northern Kentucky across from Cincinnati. It was destroyed in a tragic fire in 1977. The only time I'd been there was with my friend Rebecca to see - yes - Dionne Warwick.
-
That fire was (is) legendary.
I was living in the actual Beverly Hills then, and I've always remembered my mom calling that next evening to tell me about the fire, and sending clippings later. It was a hugely devastating event, the only thing coming close around then (in my memory) being the MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas a couple of years later. Even now, people speak of the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire with awe.
-
Yes I remember the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire....it was a scary thing.....wasn't John Davidson playing there that night? I think his show had ended when the fire happened....
-
LOL...you are most welcome DR FJL....the internet IS forever.
-
Congrats to George!
-
LOL...you are most welcome DR FJL....the internet IS forever.
Yup, until the site owner deletes it or closes down.
-
Ginny I am glad things are improving for Rob and Mary Linda.

I bet the current owner is even more nervous ;)

I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
102%!
-
Good morning.
-
Finally called about the very errant and truant important envelope number one - I was told it should have been sent around the first of the month. I told them if that was the case it was obviously lost and to please get me a replacement via some expedited guaranteed service like Fed Ex or UPS overnight. They said they'd look into it. I'm sure the guy thought it was all done, but my guess is that it wasn't
-
Funny videos.
-
102%!
congrats
-
It was an awful morning. I got to the bank and the ATM claimed it gave me my withdrawal. I got zilch, so I had to deal with Customer Service filing a claim. They tell me the missing funds will be in my account tomorrow. We'll see.
In that time I missed two buses, then ended up waiting for 20 minutes for another. I was very late to City Center and very pissed.
-
we had something like that happen years ago. the missing money was deposited fairly quickly. vibes it is deposited by tomorrow.
-
102%!
I'd rather have 102% of it
Than 100% of any pot of dough
At all.
-
I’d rather have 102% than a 102-degree fever.
-
Sorry about that, Elmore. ATM vibes
-
i felt well enough to walk today, and then we got caught in a downpour without appropriate clothing. real smart with a cold ;D
-
fortunately the sling protected my cast.
-
it is lovely out now. i hope we can finish our walk in a little while. i need the exercise but for now don't want to go alone.
-
Darn, we should not have waited. Keith checked the weather maps and they did not indicate the rain we are looking at.
-
Donde estan todos hoy?
-
Ou sont tout?
-
I'm finally returning to Belle Epoque, which was one of Penelope Cruz's first pictures. Funnier than I remember.
-
Great Italian sex comedy.
-
With a great tango scene:

-
Today at work was not fun.
-
Five hours of meetings and not enough time to get anything done.
-
Plus, there was a promise of four four-hour meetings to be scheduled for the next two weeks.
-
Mandatory.
-
Why did I fill out my annual "tell us how you feel about the company" survey on Monday?
-
I have a somewhat different opinion today.
-
I may forget about it tomorrow.
-
Wo sind alles heute?
-
My German lessons are coming along. At least I'm hearing the language.
-
I think I need to watch those Fassbinder movies I have. Though that language may not be the best.
-
I hope they film Glenda Jackson as King Lear. Sounds fascinating to me.
-
Five hours of meetings and not enough time to get anything done.
5 hours-groan.
-
I hope Ron's OK and far enough away from Florence.
-
Plus, there was a promise of four four-hour meetings to be scheduled for the next two weeks.
double groan.
-
I have a somewhat different opinion today.
a shame.
-
I may forget about it tomorrow.
i hope so.
-
Five hours of meetings and not enough time to get anything done.
5 hours-groan.
And one two-hour meeting offered nothing new. It went over the same stuff that the same team has been going over for the last 18 months. And they just had another hour-long meeting last week to go over the same stuff that they've gone over before.
-
I hope Ron's OK and far enough away from Florence.
i know. i don't think he is in the evacuation area but storms do shift.

i figured you felt they were useless.
-
Useless is being kind.
-
Training is another matter. I think those four meetings coming up are training.
-
But let's get off this page today.
-
One more.
-
Four!
-
Now that Belle Epoque is over, it's time to watch Afternoon of a Faun, a documentary about Tanaquil Le Clerq, the dancer who inspired Robbins and Balanchine before falling victim to polio. The dancing is incredible. The scenes of Robbins' Afternoon of a Faun with Jacques d'Amboise with Tanni, as she is called, is just beautiful.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
I wish I could take this a little further.
-
Cranberries!
-
Underpants!
-
Page four? Really?
-
This documentary is fascinating. She was a remarkable woman.
-
Gratuitous post No. 98!
-
Good night, all.
-
Useless is being kind.
Sorry.
-
Training is another matter. I think those four meetings coming up are training.
I hope they are beneficial.
-
Finally back from a looooooong day. Eleven o'clock meeting was fine, then right to a lunch meeting, then to auditions. About half the "confirmed" people were no-shows. Our pianist actually knew one of the fellows and texted him. His excuse? An emergency dental procedure. That's fine, but how do you have the chutzpah of not e-mailing to say you have the emergency?
Anyway, we're still without a leading man and trying to figure out what to do about it.

It sounds wonderful.

Everyone who read/sang today was so wrong for what I want and I certainly am not going to allow the show's one big ballad to be sung poorly.
-
'night

Well, I have officially been recognized for 30 Years of TRL Service:
-
It was a looong day today.
-
We had our All Staff Training Retreat and the first part was a three-hour session on questions about the library...what are things that the library does well, what can be improved, things like that.
-
I guess it was to help with the 2019-2023 long range plan.
-
Good evening.
-
So, I guess that that was a good thing.
-
Page 4? Really?
-
Hi, George.
-
Today was a day writing emails, but mostly napping.
-
The food was build-your-own sandwiches, a couple of different kinds of soup, salads, and desserts.
-
Yeah, page four, REALLY? Let's fix this.
-
It was all pretty darned good.
-
Hi, Tom and BK.
-
For dinner, I just went thru the drive-in window at Panda Express.
-
Page 5
-
P.E. wasn’t very good today.
-
Or maybe I just wasn’t in the mood.
-
The chicken is usually good, but it wa rather rubbery today.
-
For dinner, I just went thru the drive-in window at Panda Express.
None of the Panda Expresses down in this area have drive-in windows. I'd like that.
-
I asked for soy sauce, which I didn’t get.
-
Luckily, I had one packet at home.
-

If anything has been sitting around a little too long, that can happen. They say that you can always ask for freshly prepared food.
-
Nice clock, George!
-
I asked for soy sauce, which I didn’t get.
I hate it when I ask for something in a drive-thru order and I don't get it. :P
-
Nice clock, George!
Thanks! It's actually the second clock that I've gotten. I think I got another clock at 20 years.
-
In fact, I am a little bit cuckoo over it.
-
I missed getting to 30 years with the State.
-
I missed getting to 30 years with the State.
That's too bad.
-
I don’t remember there being anything that nice on our 30-year choices.
-
I have rehearsal tomorrow evening.
-
I did get a clock at 20 years:
-
I had pasta papa at Hugo's - very good. Much later, after auditions, I had a chicken Caesar salad at the Coral Cafe - very bad. Stomach-churningly bad. First off, I thought I was ordering a dinner-size salad, but this thing was huge with so much chicken I couldn't even see the lettuce. The dressing, which I normally enjoy, wasn't good, the chicken was weird and by the time I ate the chicken and some lettuce I was thoroughly nauseous.
-
I think it is 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., but we don’t yet know where it will be held.
-
Here's the clock face on the inside:
-
And the picture is of my parents:
-
I did get a clock at 20 years:
That is a clock?
-
Does everyone at 20 years get a picture of your parents?
-
I did get a clock at 20 years:
That is a clock?
That's the front plate. It opens like a book to show the clock and a picture.
-
Does everyone at 30 years get a picture of your parents?
No, only at 20 years. ;)
-
Good night, George.

Feel better vibes for DR TCB.

Today was pretty useless for me, too. The two afternoon break-out sessions were chosen by the process of elimination. The least unneccessary of all the choices. ::)
