So entirely wonderful and entertaining to have you at Ellen's House on the Morning of Christmas. The blonde daughter's admission of an old crush on you was cute, especially considering...dot dot dot.  :o

I keep forgetting about the TOD.  The only movies that really made an impression on me this year were:

TOY STORY 3
THE BLACK SWAN
THE KING'S SPEECH

The Vixter went out this morning and cleared the snow from the path and the driveway -

Can we borrow her?

The foorprints are Woody's from trudging up the drive to get the car and toodle off to work for eight hours.

Yesterday the market called at 6:20 AM and asked him if he could come in "right away" instead of the scheduled start time of 9 AM.

I wonder if any of Jose's friends were involved in this

I don't think I knew anyone who participated in that "prank". However, I do know some people who have participated in other Improv Anywhere events. -But with the annual "No Pants Subway Ride" is coming up in a few weeks...

Greetings from Buffalo, where it's 26 degrees, but just flurries as far as snow goes.  Of course there's still a foot or so on the grass from previous storms.

Hoping my drive back from BWI (Baltimore-Washington International Airport) tomorrow isn't bad considering the snow that fell Saturday and Sunday.

DR KevinH - The Baltimore-DC area was truly spared over the weekend. If anything, you'll just be dealing with the usual traffic between Baltimore and DC.

Listening to Scottsboro Boys. BEST. CHRISTMAS. CD. EVER. Thanks again, Mom. I wish you'd had gotten to see it before it ended.

Hmmm...

I don't think I'd categorize the Cast Recording of The Scottsboro Boys as "Christmas Music". ;)

In fact, I can't even think of a 3D BD that's been released that isn't in the animated/kids market, but maybe someone can remind me.

Wait a few weeks:

Read the notes.  And what lovely notes they were

I think the only films I saw this year were Iron Man II and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.   Iron Man was great, Harry Potter was great, too.  In fact, if it's still out there next week, I may take the DP to see it, although I read somewhere that it was going away soon.

I can't believe that I didn't see "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"! :-\ It's still playing locally, so I may still have a chance.

Otherwise, the only new movies that I can remember seeing this year are Avatar and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (and I only saw this on DVD).  I guess I don't get out to the movies very much.

In England, I think that it would be called "No Trousers Subway Ride." ;)

The participants do wear undergarments.

My favorite Email of the day:

THIS IS JUST AN INCREDIBLE STORY !!!!

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University ..

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.

The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully..

He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife,

after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.

Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.

Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.

Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Lincoln Park  Zoo with his teenaged son.

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and

walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing.

The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down.

The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant.

Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure.

He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.

The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs

and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

 Probably wasn't the same elephant.

der Brucer

PS

This is for everyone who sends those heart-warming bullshit stories.

It's been a wacky day and I'm happy it's done.  The helper packaged up stuff, did some organizing, then went to the post office, where she was told our single CD packages were not weighed correctly and should cost twenty-five cents more - um, no.  Either their scales are off or they are just plain perpetrating a fraud.  We've been sending these packages forever - they have, with the exception of when postage went up on first class packages over a year ago, always weighed the same and always cost the same - period, the end.  We have never had a package returned for insufficient postage, and a Pitney-Bowes scale and our new digital scale are not BOTH going to be so off.  Her mistake was in handing them to someone - and she's now left them on the loading dock as she should have done, where they will be fine.  I've asked her to call the USPS and rat out her post office branch, the ONLY branch where anything like this has happened - I've gone in and shipped from the USPS directly and the packages cost what the packages cost.  So a big RASPBERRY to her local post office branch.

Then I spent a few too many hours dealing with a guy who spends 24/7 trying to cause other film music labels grief.  He went too far this time, and I was able to cut and paste a post of his and send it to various publishers and film music licensors, all of whom were very unhappy at what he was posting - and they'll be having words with him.  He considers himself a saint and everyone else sinners.  Well, no, sorry - what we are, those of us who do this with soundtracks, are heroes - we find music, we make it sound as good as possible, and we get it out into the world, which is good for the fans and for the rights' holders.  This we do for very little profit.  In my opinion, this person is nothing more than a little peckerwood and here's a note to the little peckerwood:  Karma.  VERY potent.
