Have fun and be careful DR GINNY!
DR Ron Pulliam, I always enjoy your Christmas Vacation stories.
Welcome to the Eastern Time Zone, DR Ron!
Thanks, DR Jose!
Did you see my post last night about using my bread machine to knead the flour into shortbread dough? Any input on stand mixers? KitchenAid? Cuisinart?
DR Elmore, I am so happy that your brother called. That made me teary!
And the word of the day is: LIMINAL!
I am, once again, nestled in the bosom of South Carolina and all things Palmetto State/South Carolinian/southern everything.
My flight was uneventful. I was unable to sleep more than an hour in transit. I was unsettled. Out of sorts. Ill at ease. Once at my mom's house, I had a nice lunch of stew with corn bread...and then a four-hour nap. Wednesday e'en, I went with my mom to Johnston's First Baptist Church to see a repeat performance of the chancel and children's choirs annual Cantata.
I was unprepared for this. The choir was much larger than I've ever seen it, and this was due to the fact the church has a new choir director who, on Thursday, was graduated from Newberry College with a BA in some music degree. Many choir members were friends from another nearby church he once attended. And in the auditorium, at least half the pews were filled. This was astounding for a Wednesday evening.
The cantata was pretty good. I only nodded off a couple of times, but I was listening the whole time, I promise.
Yesterday was our trek to the climes of Spartanburg SC to visit my cousin Dot Jolley (87 years young) and share a meal at Wade's family cooking restaurant. Happily, there was turkey and dressing on the menu this year (last year it was conspicuously missing and I was VERY disappointed). I had the turkey and dressing w/cranberry sauce and two sides: A most delicous sweet potato souffle and tasty fried green tomatoes. Afterward, we visited the cemeter where my grandparents and great grandparents (maternal) are buried and placed flowers on the graves.
On our return, we shopped at Westgate Mall, where I bought a few things at CostCo, and then shopped at Dillards where I procured a couple of pairs of dressy trousers.
Last night, I prepared supper and surprised my mother with her first taste of pasta with pesto sauce. She was leery...oh, yes! Leery. But...she liked it. And then I teased her with another use we will make of the pesto sauce...as an additive to a turkey sandwich. Smear some of the sauce on the mayo on one slice of bread...and that sandwich takes on a whole NEW and WONDERFUL dimension.
Today is kick-around Friday. Nothing planned. Nothing expected. Take it as it happens. We are going to Greenville SC on Monday. We're having my cousin Debra and her hubby Rob for a spaghetti supper on Tuesday night.
Other than that, I shall endeavor to keep a tight leash on the rapid-fire pace each day seems to be taking. I'm enjoying my visit...and hope it's not over too fast.
DR Elmore, I am so happy that your brother called. That made me teary!Great news indeed. And continued vibes for recovery.

I just Googled a prospective tenant's name along with his home state and got an array of gay pornographic images that might make even Elmore or MBarnum blush. What's up with that?

DR Vixmom (re: your post last night), my nephew Daniel is doing very well. He had his final chemo session a couple of weeks back and should be back to work in February...which he is VERY happy about! As far as anyone can tell the chemo has done it's job!!!Great news.
George, good news on the healthy audiences for your show.
JMK, just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you give the prospective tenant the address of the rental? I myself wouldn't even consider asking about a rental unless I knew where it was located.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OImp5O6ggA Irina Grigorian was part of the show. She did the hoops and the slinky didn't do the fire

I think I've made the turn in my health,
So I got back here around 7:50 and my phone rang; it was my brother Randy calling me to apologize for Thanksgiving and to tell me he loved me. All is well,
Great news about Ben!
Yes, both those YouTube clips use our Be A Santa chart without permission - I don't know how the choir got on there unless at some point some choir used it and just sang over Michelle and I, which is, I suspect, the case. I guess everyone is entitled to just use anything they like these days, without asking. The counterpoint lyric AND melody is not by Jule Styne and Comden and Green, it's by Lanny Meyers, and the arrangement and harmonies are all Lanny and me. And the tap dancing, lovingly recreated step for step by the twin girls is, of course, choreographed and performed on the album by Niki Harris.I have always enjoyed that counterpoint lyric. Thanks for sharing the history of that.
Great news about Ben!
And See's candy.
Mum has been discharged and is home with Molly and me.
The Monarch Scientist's son came through the surgery well. He only had to lose a portion of the lung, not the entire lung. So that was better than expected.
Friday morning greetings! I'm up early for a 9:30 appointment to pick up the new glasses I ordered last week before Richard and I head to Oxford, OH, for him to sing with the Men's Glee Club at winter commencement. From there, we're going on to Cincinnati for an event that I cannot tell you about until it's over, but we'll do some Christmas shopping along the way.

My run of back luck had one more stroke last night. I sat down to watch the Robert Zemeckis A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Good Lord, what an awful film! I can only imagine the misery of all the young children who were dragged to this dull, ugly movie by their parents. I know I felt like I was being punished while watching it.
Did you really just say "What's up with that?" I thought this was a family site ;)
I'm sure they'll monitor him for quite some time, but the damaged lung tissue is gone. That's great news, too. Continued vibes.
I was just informed that Mrs. Patricia Borgstrom, my high school drama teacher, passed away on December 7th. She was 90+Sorry for your loss. Great teachers are rare and tremendous gifts.
Very sad. The lady made a great difference in my life.

Morning all.
That is all.
Wait...
How long will it take you?Three hours or so. Not tonight.
Someone today paid over $87,000.00 for Lee Harvey Oswald's coffin at auction. Why?Is he no longer using it?

When his body was exhumed in the 80's, the casket was damaged so he was reburied in a different casket. Apparently nobody wanted it at the time, so one of the doctors who performed the second autopsy took it and stored it away for thirty years

No where near as bad as having an electric chair anywhere!!!
We also visited the Parkette Drive-in in Lexington. It looked like a fun place to try. Who has been there?

Must be knew. I'll ask my sister, who lives there, if it's any good.
Funny, there was some barbecue place in Richmond on a TV show, not "Diners ...," and I was going to go there in September when I visited another sister. I asked around and, to a person, all said it was the worst barbecue in town.
"Diners ..." has been in San Antonio a few times and I love all the places they've gone to (I was even asked to recommend a couple of places and they took my advice about the Cove and Texas Pride Barbecue), so I have a tendency to trust their recommendations.
I must be going. I have a couple of errands to run before going to the theater. I forgot to bring my black shirt with me, so I have to go home and get it.
Until later. :)
The rel life Alison Dubois made an appearance on this wek's REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS and she is one ugly mean bitch on a huge "I've been on Oprah and I know when you will die" ego trip. Patricia Arquette's character is nothing like this horrible excuse for humanity. Is this what you were watching? http://www.usmagazine.com/moviestvmusic/news/mass-fight-breaks-out-at-camille-grammers-dinner-party-20101612
As for the ex Mrs Kelsey Grammer, she's a rel piece of work, too. I wonder why it took him so long to dump her?
