Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of one more kiss, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently singing One MOO Kiss.
-
And the word of the day is: WIFTY!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning! Running really late but still did my 2 mile morning.
SUPER vibes to DR Cillia and hoping she is doing well!
Vibes to all who need or want them. Have a wonder filled day!
-
Good morning. I've got some catching up to do, but i lost my place for some reason and have to figure out where I left off.
-
Good morning, all! I suspect this will be another day of hell and that the remainder of July will go equally well until this moving nonsense is over. At present, nothing goes right for several reasons, primarily because the move out has not been scheduled and. until it is, we can do nothing about moving the new office in. However, since the new office expected to move in at the end of July, we gave notice to 23rd Street, the space has been rented out, and now we are in limbo. The person who is cooperating with the Instutute to move them out has scheduled nthing and now told me he will be out of town all next week, so the mess is falling completely on my shoulders.
Do I want to kill? Yes.
Do I want to resign? Yes.
There's no reason for any of this to be so difficult.
-
Good morning, all.
Continued vibes to Cillaliz and her brother.
Yesterday felt like a big Monday to me in the weirdest ways. I hope today is better.

TOD:
Movies: Hairspray, The Ref
Stage musical: The Sound of Music (not my choice, but I used to review theater and so many community theater groups staged it).
Play: Twelfth Night, a favorite of Shakespeare in the Park companies. I have seen a surfing safari version and a version set in outer space. It doesn't matter the setting, I still love it.
-
good morn to all

tod
film: wizard of oz, casablanca, the sound of music
musical: a chorus line

Tuesday morning greetings! Just checking in quickly before I get ready for my first water aerobics class at the Y. The tendonitis in my ankle was bothering me on the treadmill yesterday, so I think this class will be good. I'm only going once a week at first, but may increase it to twice.
-
Continued vibes for DR Cillaliz!
-
Wonky internet here - bye for now!
-
TOD:
Movie (at a movie house): THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK -- I know I went to see this at least three times
Movie (at home): This is hard to answer--there are Christmas movies I've watched every year since they've become available for purchase, either on VHS or DVD. But there is the case of WHITE CHRISTMAS which I'm sure I've seen every year since childhood. Then there are the films I obsessed over during the early cable years that I would watch over and over--AN UNMARRIED WOMAN, THE TURNING POINT, NASHVILLE...
Musical: toss-up between A CHORUS LINE and PIPPIN
Play: I can recall only a handfull of plays I've seen more than once. DEATHTRAP was gone to three times, but that was on account of getting a free ticket each time.
-
Many many recovery vibes to Cilla!
-
Now I am definately going to have to dig out the Boradway Angel FOLLIES CD so I can listen for Victoria Mallory croaking out at the end of "One More Kiss".
-
Continued vibes for DR CILLA LIZ!!!
Wonderful news about the FOLLIES mix.....I have yet to find my LP, but I think I still have time.
-
Hmmmm.....since I have done tech work....and run the light board for several shows, I guess the play that I have seen the most is STEEL MAGNOLIAS.....during a 12 week run, and another 2 week run at another theater.
Musical: Les Miz or Phantom of the Opera
Movie: Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Titanic 1953 and/or Harlow, Carroll Baker version
-
Our theatre is not air conditioned, but it is air cooled......whatever the temperature is outside, we are usually about 20-25 degrees cooler inside.......
No show tonight....we re-open Wednesday for our last 4 performances.
-
Now I am definately going to have to dig out the Boradway Angel FOLLIES CD so I can listen for Victoria Mallory croaking out at the end of "One More Kiss".
Me, too.

Everyone was talking about DropBox yesterday.....
I use Google.docs to store and transfer files to people.....it is most helpful with working on the website....and if you have a Google account, you already have it.
I guess it's going to become Google Drive soon - but it will be the same thing.

Good morning, all. Got a decent amount of sleep, but woke up feeling like I'd been run over.
The FOLLIES saga is incredible and fascinating to the end. It just happens I was reading some stuff about the restoration of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA last night, another saga which is incredible and fascinating to the end, so they're kind of conflated in my mind right now. Not to mention that MR BK has said he is going to see LAWRENCE OF ARABIA which, itself, is incredible and fascinating to the end, and I greatly look forward to reading a long set of notes about that evening whilst writhing in envy.

Many vibes, oh yes, MANY vibes to the few and to the many.

No air-conditioning, DR Jrand61!? Oy!
I guess that shouldn't surprise me. I don't think we have any regional theaters here that have been without it for at least a decade, so I guess we're doing okay in that regard. A/C is inevitably the last improvement made. The last one here to upgrade from a couple of semi-functioning wall units to a central system did so just a few years ago.
-
there have been a few positive moves about the move this morning so far. I can only hope it continues before I become a serial killer or an alcoholic.

We do actually have two industrial air conditioning units for the theatre.....but it's a barn......so it's hard to maintain a cool temperature.....we are usually at about 75 degrees or so.....or cooler as the evening goes along.

Movies: Years ago I tried to tally up the number of times and places I'd gone to see WEST SIDE STORY, 2001, and THE EXORCIST, because at that time I believed those three stood out as the ones I'd obsessed over and gone to theaters to see more than any other. However, one must also try to recall the various Hitchcocks, and more. So much more. And DR D(tM) reminds us that things such as holiday movies seen every year on TV probably tip the balance without one's even being aware of it, since they're seen with no effort. But home video itself tips the balance because of the lack of effort required to see so many things repeatedly. Today I shall honor, and stick with, the original three.
Musical: Again, here we are with WEST SIDE STORY, for various reasons. I imagine SOUTH PACIFIC is a contender. Because that's just the way it happens.
Play: For me, always the toughest category to figure out. In fact, I don't have an answer at present.

Thanks for the vibes. My left shoulder and ribs are very sore today, but the rest of me really is feeling ok. The insurance co called this am and the rental car company will be here in a few minutes to pick me up and get lined up with a rental. Can't stay and talk right now, but will be back after I get the rental and get my stuff out of my car at the tow yard.
-
Thanks for the update, Cillaliz. Hopefully the soreness fades quickly.

Nice use of brown in the landscaping, JRand.
-
Thanks DR JOHN G - everyone in the neighborhood is copying us.

RE: One Last Kiss session - ah the joys of digital editing. So much you can do. I've discovered the simple stuff when/if I have to edit a track for a tracked show. I don't use pro-tools, but the cheapo program I do use (Audacity) comes in handy for small fixes and small miracles
-
And that said.
Hello, Goodbye
-
Yes, no no no
-
TOD:
Film - Probably "The Goonies"
Musical - out of all the years I've been musical directing, etc I have "seen" Joseph and Fiddler the most. In the theatre, it's The Phantom of the Opera (10 times plus the Vegas show once)
-
Off to camp. Another long day! I often wonder what would have happened on The Road I Didn't Take, and didn't end up doing what I do for a living
-
DR MATTHEW I use Audacity as well.....nice program.....Cakewalk, which came with my USB turntable is also a nice program.

Your brown yard astounds me, JRand. When I was in Indiana a few months ago, it rained the whole time I was there.

I am sorry that I took a hike (actually, took a roll) yesterday afternoon. Yesterday at P.T. I had my latest evaluation, and that required a lot of extra strain and pain on my leg. I was getting so sore by 5:00 yesterday, I just turned off the computer and went to bed.
-
The good news was that I have made great progress across the board with my P.T. I am much improved on all my range of motion stuff. I still can't walk, but we are making progress.
-
Cilla, I am so sorry to hear about your accident yesterday. Wow, those photos are scary. I am so happy that nothing was broken, however, today or tomorrow you might feel like everything is broken. Quick recovery vibes to Cilla.

That's silly. I remember going to Big Bend National Park a few years back and the sprinklers were going night and day on the golf course. In the meantime, our hotel restricted our showers. You had to get wet, turn off the water, soap up and then turn the water back on to rinse it off. I don't know if the golf course was using treated wastewater to keep it green, but it was strange.

There was a man on the news yesterday who showed off his "painted" green lawn.
DR LAURA - as has been reported here, there is a ban on watering lawns, washing cars, etc...... I take water and ice out to the bird bath a couple of times a day in a pitcher.....and keep some little containers of water under it full for kitties or other wandering animals who might need a little drink of water.....even if it's hot.
A few ice cubes now and then at least keep it cooler than it would be.

I have survived my first gentle water aerobics class, which was taught by DS Rob's elementary school principal (now retired). His third grade teacher (also retired) is one of the students.

It was probably the untreated wastwater that turned it brown to start with.

From DR Cilla:
I decided if I'm going to feel worse tomorrow I better get a shower before bed. It felt pretty good. I did get a piece of glass out of my arm. It looks worse that I thought, but I got it cleaned off, put on some neosporin and sort of bandaged it. I'm icing my shoulder and just took my med. Just need to ice my ribs and then will probably try to go to bed.
It was a good idea to have done all of this last night, might be why you feel as good as you do this morning.
I hope the rental car is comfortable for your sore body.

You Tube has a couple clips of Brad Oscar
doing playing Barnum. I can't imagine him walking the tightrope at the end of the first act.
-
I saw Harvey Evans as Barnum in the road company. I was always a fan of Evans and when I got to interview him, while he was starring in the road show of "La Cage," he proved to be an even nicer person.
It was a bittersweet interview, actually, and this is going back years, so my memory is somewhat hazy on everything we discussed, but I remember that it was around the time that Fosse, Michael Bennett and so many people he had worked with had recently died, many from AIDS. He said the boys in the company had had more than one evening where they just got together and just cried over the latest name that was added to that list.

I just read a Playbill article about Harvey Evans. He said he was in the 1962 film, EXPERIMENT IN TERROR playing the boyfriend of a girl played by an actress named Taffy Paul. She and Harvey both changed their names before the film was released. Can anyone (without cheating) guess who this actress became?

See what happens when the telephonic device doesn't ring and the doorbell doesn't door? I get a great beauty sleep, which I REALLY needed. Got up about fifteen minutes ago. Pardon me while I throw my printer through the window...
Just last week or the week before, I installed an new cartridge of black ink. Had a devil of a time getting it in the printer and now I'm getting fouled up printing and the message that the "black ink cartridge has failed." I've taken it out and cleaned the contacts, but all that's accomplished is getting black ink all over my fingers.
I know, first world problem, but it's pretty annoying. Richard is at Staples now making copies for the church synod that takes place later this week, so he's going to bring me new cartridges.

Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert!spoiler Alert!
Stephanie Powers
I just read a Playbill article about Harvey Evans. He said he was in the 1962 film, EXPERIMENT IN TERROR playing the boyfriend of a girl played by an actress named Taffy Paul. She and Harvey both changed their names before the film was released. Can anyone (without cheating) guess who this actress became?
Thank goodness she didn't keep this name.

One More Kiss is mastered and approved and all three masters will be to Fed Ex shortly and on their way to the pressing plant for morning delivery.
-
98 degrees in the nation's capital.
-
The good news was that I have made great progress across the board with my P.T. I am much improved on all my range of motion stuff. I still can't walk, but we are making progress.
Glad to hear this, TCB!
-
And in my city, drought or not, the City cites you if your yard has brown spots.
No wonder you don't have a lawn.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I've been told those fake lawns are becoming more popular, especially in areas where drought is a concern. The few people I know that have put them in are very happy.

Major MOVING VIBES for DR ELMORE!
-
It's 67 degrees here in Oakland right now. That's with the sun shining!
-
Thank you, all, for the Vibes! Until I know we are definitely on for Friday afternoon, life will be fraught.
Please keep 'em coming!
-
DR Ron it's about the same here.
-
Liner notes are finished and to the designer. I'm hoping we can send in the packaging for that title tomorrow morning, because that one is the company that takes a long time to approve.
-
Synching the car iPod. I think there are now ten-thousand tracks.
-
Evening all!
Glad to hear that DR Cilla isn't as sore as we thought she would be.
Vibes to DR Elmore for the move!
Super vibes to DR TCB and the hope that he continues to improve!

Last night DR Ginny asked: DR Danise - are you using the Leslie Sansone DVDs?
The answer is yes. I have the dvd with the 1 and 2 mile on it. That's the one I'm using right now. I get up about a half hour early and walk the 2 miles and then do it again when I get home from work.
I ordered a 3 mile dvd so I can walk to the 2 mile in the morning and 3 miles in the evening so I'll walk a total of 5 miles. I just like to do it all at once. I know I could just walk the 2 mile and then the 1 mile but I don't want to stop I just want to count the 3 miles down all at once. I don't know if that makes sense but that's the way I feel comfortable doing it.
-
BK, I have tried to answer your email but every address I use - and i've now used three! - comes back as undeliverable.
-
I sent the answer as a PM.

I've read there is more benefit to splitting your exercise like that.

Craig said he doesn't think he'll be targeting anymore courses condensed into six days or less. His work load has been extensive and he hasn't had time to look for a place to live. I appears our two weeks of watching the furry grand children will be extended.
-
Hello. This morning I got the rental car, got my stuff out of the car, stopped to thank the photographer friend of mine and came home. I slept all afternoon and woke up to the insurance claims adjuster calling on my claim. Hopefully I'll know in the next day or so if they total the car, I don't know how they can't. Seeing it today made me realize once again how lucky I was

VIBES FOR ELMORE~~~~~~

At least your schedule this week accommodated you unexpected plans of rest.

The Johns Hopkins program Craig will be doing will also provide employment, through the local schools, as a teacher's aid. Yesterday he expected to find out where he would be working. It isn't that simple as he needs to interview for the positions. That's great, but nothing has been set up and he would like to know where he will be working so he can live as close to school and work as possible. I hope he can get an interview and this sorted out on Friday.
Time to find something is running out. Once he returns home he has to pack to move back.
-
elmore, got it - have no idea why you're having e-mail problems but it can't be on my end as I've gotten 100s of e-mails this day.
-
Vibes for DS Craig finding out what he needs to know and for finding a place to live!
Vibes to DR Cillia and that you feel much better soon!
-
Watching the third Varg Veum movie (out of six in this set), then I'll check out the new transfers of High Noon and Body Snatchers. Amazingly, I forgot to preorder Singin' in the Rain - that will be here tomorrow.
-
BK - Did that guy at the newspaper get that copy of your book ultimately? Did I miss discussion of that on a day I missed?

Now I am definately going to have to dig out the Boradway Angel FOLLIES CD so I can listen for Victoria Mallory croaking out at the end of "One More Kiss".
Me, too.

Hoo and Ray!! ;D

I'm going to assume that the Topic of the Day does not include specific productions in which I was involved...whether acting or tech.
Movies: 1776, Scroooge, The Wizard of Oz
Stage Musicals: Rent, A Rock 'n' Roll Twelfth Night (a local company wrote it and presented three different productions over the years...it's a great show!), The Rocky Horror Show (I've actually only seen the movie twice)
Plays: I don't think that I've seen any play more than once.

I used to have these on videocassette. :)

Well, I guess having a meltdown and throwing a tantrum can occasionally accomplish something. It looks as if, depending on the situation with getting the certificate of insurance to the building management from the movers, the move out will occur on Friday afternoon. I could use some strong vibes here!
Well, just when you think all is going well, the Institute, supposedly worth over $5billion, has decided the moving cost is too high! I've had a request to call a colleague on the project, so I did, and I got a phone message.
It's a good thing I'm not God; heads would roll, there would be blood in the streets.

I cancelled my only appointment tomorrow. I need to make a couple phone calls tomorrow and may go check the mail,. but other than that, I think I'll be sitting all day again
Just make sure you return the AP's phone call. We don't want to have to read about you again. ;D

DR JohnG, thank you for the fantastic review of the Herbert Songs! What a nice surprise tonight.
I keep hearing new and wonderful things in these songs. There's a very Sullivan-esque intro to "Love Ne'er Came Nigh" on disc 2. Stuff like that.
-

OH GEORGE!!!
yes please 1776 --- this was actually my first ever Broadway show and during the Bicentennial I was attending collge and was makeup mistress for 1776 - we ran the show all of JUly and the whole cast and crew stayed in one 3 bedroom house about 2 blocks from the campus for the whole month - showers were taken at the college - days were spent barbquing and playing softball frisbee etc every night was a performance usually followed by a trip to the Liberty Diner (until we were banned)
Oh what a month!!
-
If I would not be too greedy I would also very much liek the Tonys and My Fair Lady
-
AM I the only one who thinks the US Team's Olympic uniforms make them look like The Guardian Angels?

Hello, everyone.
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, Cillaliz. I'm not at all surprised that you're sore and uncomfortable. Glad you didn't suffer a head injury. Vibes of comfort and healing!
-
Moving vibes to DR Elmore. May the move (1) happen, and (2) go smoothly.
-
I'm very pleased to hear about your great progress, TCB. I do understand how difficult it can be to remain patient and upbeat when you are facing a lengthy recovery. Vibes that you keep seeing progress.
-
Vixmom, GO TO BED!!
Maybe she's doing homework for her intensive typing class.
-
Goodnight.

Tonight has been epic.
-
Starting with this evening. I asked a violinist that usually plays shows for me if I could hire her string quartet to play at the DP's surprise party this Sunday. She told me her quartet is no longer, however, she took the bull by the horns and got together a cellist and a flutist (flautist, whatever) that also play for me on occasion and they formed a trio. Tonight we met at my church so they could practice. The violinist did all the work with putting music in order, etc and they sat down and read through the music.
WOW.... it was amazing. It was 2+ hours of sheer enjoyment.
AND - they are doing this for FOOD!!!!! Great friends.... you can't beat that.

Next, I came home and sat down at my computer and decided to try and solve an issue I have with Dear Edwina Jr. One of the numbers "Fork, Knife, Spoon" is in dire need of vocal support. It's a hard number (google it and you'll see) especially for the kids. So, we were going to record some vocals to support the kids, but the more I thought about, the more it sounding like a LOT of work. SO... Audacity to the rescue.
There is a way to invert a song in Audacity that will eliminate (not entirely, but enough) the lead vocal. Well, what does that leave? The BACK UP vocals. So, MTI sends 2 CD's with the Jr shows. One with vocals and one without for performance. SOOO.... I inverted the track with the vocals and found out that yes, the back up vocals stayed intact. So I lined up the two tracks, silenced what I didn't need from the vocal track, and BINGO, vocal support for the kids.
-
And these are the days of our lives
-
All that, and I'm still here
-
Finished my viewing around nine-thirty and have been trying to approve the packaging for an upcoming title - almost done.
