Odd experience on the NJ Transit bus coming back from the seder in Cranford NJ tonight.  The bus driver announced that he had taken a wrong exit or something like that, and asked if anyone knew how to get back on the route to NYC.  With all that, we only got in 15 minutes later than scheduled, but it was unusual.

TOD: Favorite chocolates: Burdick, from Walpole, New Hampshire. This and Ken Burns are the town's two biggest businesses. Now Ken owns part of Burdicks. They make unusually flavored hand-made chocolates. DR Jose would love it!

My favorite chocolate is very dark chocolate combined with orange. There are some truffles with that flavor. I could eat a box of those. The organic dark chocolate truffles at Whole Foods are also delish.

I'm a purist---I like nuts and I like chocolate, but not together.

Nutella is a different story...

Here's something good...I like to think I invented it: Peanutella sandwich. It's a peanutbutter sandwich, but instead of jelly, you use nutella. So it's kind of like a Reeses' cup. Kids love it!

I headed across the street from the Equity building to John's Shanghai for lunch today.

Is this the same as Joe's Shanghai?

I LOVE their soup dumplings. And their turnip short bread. And their braised pork shoulder. I wish we would have gone there on our trip, but every meal we had seemed to consist of either pizza or bagels.  >:(

For a real treat:

Slather on some Nutella between two slices of Pumpkin Bread - or Banana Bread.  -Although, a hearty rustic bread works great too - like a whole wheat sourdough with dried cherries in it.  In any case...  Lightly butter the bread, then grill until warm.

You can keep "purist" me, I'll go for "prurient" - give me chocolate like they gave it to Ann-Margret in Tommy.

(I avoided comments about liking to lick chocolate off of nuts - I'm a good boy, I am)

Thanks to DR Jose for his phone call this afternoon... thanks to your  "inside info" I snagged 2 seats, row D, center center orchestra

You will love it! I have been thinking about it a lot and wish I could see it again. I hope it goes on tour! Everyone in the cast was so good! (Although I think they could have done a better job casting the pastry chefs...)  :)

DR vixmom - So, what time will you be leaving the city on Wednesday?  Can we arrange for a hand off the popsicle molds?

Somehow this sounds rather unseemly...

Close but no cigar.  However, John's has a wonderful Double Scallion Pancake with Beef - which is basically like a big eggroll consisting of a scallion pancake rolled around grilled beef and scallions.

Joe's is in Chinatown on Pell St. and opened another in the 50-ish area. Somehow it doesn't have the same charm, although you probably don't have to wait an hour like you do for the one in Chinatown.

I do have to say that Rodzinski and T-Punk were both very cute and it was fun to talk to him about his days in Atlanta and at UGA.

I forgot to find out from T-Punk which kitty was having the digestive problems? Was it your little chubster cow-cat?

Yes it is Walty, or "Tubs" as I like to call him.
