Well, you've read the notes, the notes held the malaise, and now it is time for you to post until the held cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VOTIVE!
-
Speaking of malaise, The Manhattan Transfer recorded a song called, "Malaise En Malaisie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2FKmNpKNRM), which translates to "Malaise in Malaysia."
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR TCB, Trump has also made references to Biden's being a pedophile, which is quite funny coming from a man accused of raping a minor.
-
DR Jeanne, I could sure use a personal shopper along with a sherpa. When I order from Fairway, they substitute things without asking. My last order for sweet relish substituted Indian Relish. What the hell is it?
-
Another day with no plans, though I have several errands: for one, I need to find a good roll of heavy corrugated cardboard to repair Stella's damage on the heat pipe insulation in my bathroom.
-
I also need to call Suad and see if she knows anything about these additional unemployment payments.
-
I had planned to call Joshie yesterday, so I'll do that today.
-
BK, on Sunday I posted your Youtube link to the Cast Recording List. This morning, this showed up there:
It's archived on You Tube - which I prefer because you can watch on any smart TV without and special teckkie stuff.
I reviewed all Bruce Kimmel's Lost in Boston CDs decades ago. Even if you don't watch the whole thing - you need to watch the first two numbers. Now to find time to go back and watch previous ones.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Never give a VOTIVE an even break.
-
Hello, DR JohnG!
-
Kitty cleanup is finished. I sent Suad an email about the unemployment, and now I need to make the bed.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I just sneezed.
-
Eight times.
-
I need to stock back up on Flonase.
-
I don’t believe I know any more of Mr. Grieg’s output than BK did before doing his listening last night.
-
DR TCB, Trump has also made references to Biden's being a pedophile, which is quite funny coming from a man accused of raping a minor.
Did I hear correctly that he also blamed Joe Biden for the fact that there wasn’t a national mask mandate?

Yep. This ass is a universal embarrassment. I will never understand the fools supporting him. That includes one brother and two cousins.

Much as I have enjoyed Drew Barrymore in films, after seeing her commercials I would rather have my fingernails and tongue torn out than watch her new talk show.
-
Songwriter Al Kasha has died at age 83.
-
I just finished the first draft of the 31st play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
Wheew!
-
Songwriter Al Kasha has died at age 83.
I remember meeting him back in the day.
He and his partner were exploring the idea of hiring a publicist, but it never happened.

I remember meeting him back in the day.
He and his partner were exploring the idea of hiring a publicist, but it never happened.
Oddly enough, I met him at a little seminar he participated in, at Crossroads of the World, probably just a few months after he won the Oscar for the POSEIDON song.
-
And honestly, it was entirely due to that incident that I forevermore knew who he was.
-
Hello, DR JohnG!
Good morning to you!
-
I just sneezed.
Gesundheit!
-
Two!
-
I liked a lot of Kasha’s music, but not his additions to the Seven Brides score.
Candle on the Water should have won the Oscar.
-
I using an absentee ballot to be VOTIVE this time.
-
DR JANE I took some photos of the haze.....we shall see how they turn out.
-
I am glad MR BK is enjoying the Grieg.....yes the Symphonic Dances are a DEE-light.
-
DR GEORGE how is the sound on the laser discs?
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Have you ever considered composing a concerto, fugue, or etude?
-
The theater I usher for is scheduling a lot of virtual concerts, which sounds intriguing. Your admission lets you watch it with a 48-hour period. The first up is Stavinsky’s l’Histoire du soldat with Ravel’s Mother Goose thrown in for good measure. Quite a pair.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Have you ever considered composing a concerto, fugue, or etude?
Or after this past week, a requiem?
-
Requiem for a Postmates Account.
-
Back from eating a nice turkey sandwich, for which I did NOT hold the mayonnaise.
Also back with the Flonase --
For I was in a daze
And could only lie upon the chaise
While my nose was all ablaze.
-
The malaise craze
Has gone on for days.
Everyone spends, nobody pays.
Government has its means and ways
And the people wait for the end of phase
TEN.

I have filled out my BALLOT and will take it to the post office to mail it on the morrow.
-
Butt ugly word of the day: deduplicate. (Or etacilpuded backwards, which sounds a little better.)
It means to eliminate redundancy.
-
No.
-
DR GEORGE how is the sound on the laser discs?
It actually sounds pretty good.

So, I haven't been talking about this, but Neve has been going downhill over the last week or so. It all happened fairly quickly. She was eating less and not using (needing?) her litter box. Yesterday and the day before, she wasn't able to stand or walk very easily. She was able to, just not easily. Well, this morning, it really went downhill and I put her in my car and took her to an emergency vet. I knew that I wasn't going to take her home, and I didn't. Her heart actually stopped before the vets put in a catheter to put her to sleep. :'(
-
But not too long after I woke up and before I left to take Neve to the vet, I got a call from my mom saying that my dad is in the hospital. He was in pain all night. She got him up and was going to take him to the hospital when he collapsed at their front door. She was able to catch him and let him down gently. That's when she saw that his feet were white. The ambulance people got him to the hospital and they found that he has a couple of issues that would need surgery (including amputating his legs), but my mom said that with his age and dementia that he probably wouldn't survive the surgery (she's a retired nurse, so she knows), so they're just going to keep him comfortable. That's all I know. :(
-
So, I'll be off for a while.
-
Vibes for George’s dad, George and the whole family.
-
I have filled out my BALLOT and will take it to the post office to mail it on the morrow.
Do you have to mail it vs dropping it off in a ballot box?
-
OMG George, I am so very, very sorry and sad for you.

DR George, this is so sad. She was a beautiful cat. I am so sorry.

Ditto!

One of my best college friends who's lived in Cologne and coached voice at the Cologne Conservatory for the past 30 years before retiring called this afternoon and we had a nice visit. Gary wrote the notes on the German lieder for my Victor Herbert song collection.
-
I spoke to Joshie, who's been going into City Center to clean his office. We're hoping to get together for lunch or dinner this weekend.
-
I got a reply from Suad. She says there is a lag with these unemployment payments and she will get back to me. Have you heard anything, DR ChasSmith?
-
Oh, George! I am so sorry. So, so sorry.
-
Yay, we went for a walk this morning and the sun was finally visible through the smoke. The big orange sun would be beautiful with we could see the sky instead of ugly white smoke.
-
I wore my N95 mask until the very end of the walk.
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings!
First things first: thoughts and hugs for DR George...
One or the other of today’s events would be bad enough, but the double dose is just too much :'(
-
While the air is still "Very Unhealthy" and the warning is to stay inside, it sure beats "Beyond Index" when the index tops out at 500.
-
One or the other of today’s events would be bad enough, but the double dose is just too much :'(
I am barely coping with the virus and the smoke, let alone this double dose that is too much :'(

In a town hall meeting we had last week, someone mentioned that he wanted to go and throw out the plant on his desk that by all rights should be dead now. Turns out the cleaning staff has been doing their part to keep all of the plants watered and alive.
-
That is nice of the cleaning staff to care about the plants.
-

He and Richard were fraternity brothers.

I had forgotten that!

Omg.....DR GEORGE......I am never going to complain again.....

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Have you ever considered composing a concerto, fugue, or etude?
I have not. Not talented enough or knowledgeable enough to do such things. I did have a friend who played the oboe and I tried to write a piece for oboe and piano - in fact, I did write it, but knowing nothing about the oboe or its ranges, it was a joke. Nice tune, though.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep, got up at one and have been catching up.
-
DR JANE my haze pictures are a no go.....you just see gray sky where there should be blue.
-
OMG, DR George, what they all said. Both of those major things in one day? Unimaginable. Major vibes to you and your family.
-
I got a reply from Suad. She says there is a lag with these unemployment payments and she will get back to me. Have you heard anything, DR ChasSmith?
Not a peep. One announcement I’d read referenced the 17th, so we’ll see if tomorrow brings any solid news.
You are so fortunate to have Suad. The couple of guys I got ahold of back in June were my own personal heros/guides in getting me into the program, but they’ve since cut way back on telephone access to anyone in our DOL — which is just barbaric, but that’s the way it is.

We don't know that he was the only one.

DR TCB thanks - I like to think that I got where I did because of talent.....but there you are......
-
DR JANE my haze pictures are a no go.....you just see gray sky where there should be blue.
Our numbers are going back up and the air quality is back into hazardous. SIGH. I am glad we walked earlier.

Receiving unemployment check vibes to those expecting them.
-
Shaved, will shower in a few, and then I'll be on my way to sup.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hi Jeanne. How did your post-op visit go today?
-
MEGA condolences to DR George! So sorry to hear the news.
As for Neve, it clearly was her time to go and you don't have to worry that maybe you shouldn't have had her put to sleep. You two had many good years together. She was a lovely cat.
Your mother seems quite sensible and I'm sure will make good decisions regarding your father's care. I hope he will be comfortable.
Hugs to you, George. What a lot to take in! You know we'll all be thinking about you. Vibes to you and your family.
-
Hi, Jane. The post-op went fine and traffic to Beverly Hills was relatively light. I drove over myself rather than get a ride.
-
Great. I am pleasantly surprised you were able to drive yourself to the appointment. It sounds better than relying on a ride.
-
Re malaise:
I've often felt a let-down once a project was over. You'd think you'd be over the moon and ready to celebrate, but that isn't always the case.
I have a friend who's a telephone psychic. He has clients all over the world. He tells me that there are days when he's inundated with calls, and everyone seems to be feeling rattled at once. You'd think people would be calling with their own issues, quite independent of others, but his call patterns suggest otherwise. The other day was one of those days.
And, lastly, how could anyone not be affected by all the bad news?
-
Brother George, I am so sorry to read your news! Neve was a wonderful companion and she will be missed.
-
Great. I am pleasantly surprised you were able to drive yourself to the appointment. It sounds better than relying on a ride.
I actually prefer to get a ride to many medical appointments. I get nervous when I have any sort of procedure coming up and would rather leave the driving to someone else. I'd planned to arrange rides for today, but was so put off by the taxi driver last week, both his rude impatience and his abstention from wearing a mask, that I chose to drive myself. Had this not been Covid, it might have been different. You just can't distance properly in a car. I'd like to see taxis retrofitted or redesigned to have a safe passenger area.
-
It's good that your mom has the knowledge to do what's best for your dad. Vibes for no pain!
-
DR Jeanne, I could sure use a personal shopper along with a sherpa. When I order from Fairway, they substitute things without asking. My last order for sweet relish substituted Indian Relish. What the hell is it?
Substitutions seem to be the biggest obstacle in delegating grocery shopping. DR Ginny's weekly Kroeger curbside arrangement seems to work well for her, but wouldn't work for me. I clearly need help and was very pleased to learn about Jason's business. He'll go to several stores in a row, if needed, and has a Costco membership, which we non-members can take advantage of. This could really help me out. I hope to keep him!
-
I know of many seniors who could really use some help. I'm hoping that some of the people who lost jobs due to the lockdown will start businesses to fill this need.

Butt ugly word of the day: deduplicate. (Or etacilpuded backwards, which sounds a little better.)
It means to eliminate redundancy.
Redundancy can actually be a good thing. It was the business model for Tandem Computers and is often found in nature. (Just my 2 cents.)
-
Better days ahead for us all.
TTFN.
-
DR Jeanne I was telling Keith how great it is you found your personal shopper. Vibes you do get to keep him.
-
Back from a great meal outside at the Smoke House. I was a very good boy - shrimp cocktail, cup of clam chowder, and a wedge salad with 1000-Island dressing. Oh, and four pieces of garlic cheese bread, not as bad as it sounds as they're very thin and small - imagine a six-inch Subway sandwich - take the top half of that and slice into fifths - I had four of those five. That and the 1000-Island dressing were the worst of the calories so I'm guessing I didn't go over 1000.
-
Condolences to George.
-
It was a very long day at work.
-
So I'm off to bed.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Good night, all.
-
Thanks for all the support! HHW is the best!
-
After my two posts earlier today, I came home and hung out, then I met my friend Margo at the local Eagan's burger joint and we chatted and ate. My friend Judy works there, so I broke the news to her. Just a few days ago, Judy posted on FB that HER brother had just died! He had Downs and Alzheimer's, but still, it was a shock to her, too. :(
-
I came home and called my sister. We talked a bit, then I went over to her house. Around 3:30 my mom called and told us that my dad finally died around 3:00 pm. Before then, the doctors made sure that he was comfortable. He had last rites, so that's good. She sat with him and remembered him and then he finally passed. She didn't want us coming over yet. She just wanted to spend some time alone and process everything and decompress.
-
We're all going over tomorrow at some time, and then we'll be together. We also made calls to their friends and other family who needed to know, so that's taken care of.
-
I'm now home.
-
In a town hall meeting we had last week, someone mentioned that he wanted to go and throw out the plant on his desk that by all rights should be dead now. Turns out the cleaning staff has been doing their part to keep all of the plants watered and alive.
There were a couple of people who came into my work while everyone was gone and took care of plants, too. I was going in kind of regularly, but I don't know enough about plants to have helped.
-
Finished with my viewing - didn't watch too much, and now back to Grieg.
-
Thanks for all the support! HHW is the best!
I didn't know if you would be back tonight.

DR George your mother must be a very strong woman. Again my deepest condolences to you and your family.
-

Thanks so much, Jane. Yes, she's strong. Part of it is the stereotypical German stoicism, but it's probably mostly because she was a nurse for many years and saw a LOT, so she knew what to expect.
-
And because of what she saw she knows the suffering your father will not have to endure. I hope that is a comfort to all of you.

Definitely!

Jane, I heard from Geri Lowe. General e-mail to friends about online shiva and that kind of thing.
-
Listening to Byron Janis work his brilliance with the Rachmaninoff second and third piano concertos on Mercury - these are great-sounding performances in Mercury Living Presence - I have the SACD version, but even the CD layer is absolutely stunning. I think Mr. Janis does these as well as anyone ever has.

Hello, all you lovely, dear DRs.

So...

-
Hello, all you lovely, dear DRs.
Hello, Singdaw! Welcome back!
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
I am here mainly to apologize to you all.
I didn't depart HHW due to any tiff or disagreement, or leave in a huff. I simply felt that to be a full participant here at HHW, I needed to read every word of BK's daily notes and every word of every DR's posts. And I came to a time in my life where I didn't feel I was able to make that commitment.
I truly regret that I didn't communicate that clearly to you all at the time.
I still don't know that I can make that commitment now. However, due to surgery I will be undergoing on Friday, I will have some enforced recuperation time after I am released from the hospital. So I thought I might dip my toe back in the HHW waters.
I do sincerely apologize to anyone that felt hurt by my actions.
-
Thank you, DR George.
-
DR George - very sorry to read the news about your father.
Sending ~~~VIBES OF COMFORT~~~ to you and your family.
-
Until later. Hope to see you all again really soon. :-*

How are you doing, slingblade? You have been missed.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Oh my God, George! What a terrible day. My deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father.
-
Also, my hugs to you on the passing of Neve. She was much loved by you, and she gave you much love in return.
-
Thanks, Tom.

Any prospects?
Several.
-
And?
No decision until probably Saturday.
-
Singles or pairs?
-
When I went back to see all the babies, this one adorable little kitten came rushing to the front of her cage trying to get my attention. She kept reaching out between the bars and wanting me to pet her.
-
I got to hold her and she cuddled with me and purred. The woman said I think we have a match made in heaven.

Singdaw! So happy to have you back where you belong. Vibes for a successful surgery and we'll all be here for your recuperation.
