Well, you've read the notes, the notes went round, and now it is time for you to post until the round cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GALLIGASKINS!
-
Love reading about the new recording, BK! Can't wait to actually hear it. About when will it be available for purchase?
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Hope the rest of the recording goes more smoothly.
-
As Larry mentioned yesterday, we will be visiting him at Toyland this afternoon. A wonderful way to spend part of my birthday, visiting a dear friend.
-
Yes, a Blu-Ray and a DVD player can play CDs but Larry would have to turn on his television to do that. It's becoming harder to find stand alone CD players because people play their music on everything BUT a CD player but they are still available. It just takes a bit more work to find what you're looking for.
-
I have negative interest in the NJ event this evening. We will go out for an early dinner after our visit with Larry and then stay in for the evening and watch a movie.
-
A very happy birthday to dear DR Ben!!!!
-
good morning to all
-
happy birthday to ben
-
happy birthday to iris
-
Happy birthday to Iris, also!
-
Thanks Fred and Mike
-
Good morning, all! I am on a rush to get out of here ASAP and get to Toyland. I have a bit of printing and I need to scan some music. It will be a long day there, but my visit with DR Ben and Anthony will be a nice break.
I will check in from there.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to our Occcasional DR Iris !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Greetings to DR Ben !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happy Birthday, dear, dear Ben!!!
-
And thanks to Jane, Matthew, Singdaw, Jeanne and Cilla for the birthday wishes yesterday!
-
And thanks to Jane, Matthew, Singdaw, Jeanne and Cilla for the birthday wishes yesterday!
Hopefully I didn't miss thanking anyone. If, however, I did, then hereby consider yourself thanked. :)
-
Sunday morning greetings! We decided to sleep in, which I did until just before 8 and Richard is still doing. Today we're going to take a drive across the Alabama line so I can add that to my "states visited" list. We told Perry & Pam we'd be at their house in time to hear Renee Fleming sing the National Anthem.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Ben!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Iris - we miss you!
-
I've had to stay longer than I wished to have some breakfast with my meds.
I had a curious email this morning I did not understand until I read BK's notes. It was a bit of a surprise, not unpleasant, but a complete surprise!
I hope today's recording session goes well!
-
Thanks, Ginny and Kerry and Larry!
-
Bunnies, Heffalumps, Kitties and Lambs (and a mushroom, too!) Oh, My.
-
And the word of the day is: GALLIGASKINS!
I think I had some of those when I got out of bed this morning.
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
Oh my, I see we are still firmly entrenched in birthday season!
A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our one and only DR Ben!
-
And a very Happy Birthday to DR/DL Iris!
-
And a big platter o' recording session VIBES and XYLOPHONES to BK!
-
Thanks, Chas
-
Greetings from Toyland! I got here to find the front door locked, but I might have beat the doorman this morning. I've unpacked my lunch, put things into the fridge, sorted the mail, and unpacked by shopping bags of all the stuff I toted down here.
I have lots to do!
I wish we had a coffee maker.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Ben!!! Hope you have a fun day!
-
Happy Birthday to DR Iris!
-
Vibes for a smooth recording session!
-
I am looking forward to the Super Bowl tonight.
But boy am I dumb. The thing I was bringing (that I was positive I had in my freezer) was not there. I went to buy it 2 weeks ago at Costco. It's something they always have. But I remembered yesterday that they didn't have it. At least I remembered yesterday and not today.
-
Another of my favorite performers, George Dvorsky, is appearing in "How to Succeed..." at the Olney Theatre in Maryland. I was thinking today would have been a good day to see the show but I have lunch plans with my friend Dan. I don't think he'd want to go but I guess I could ask him.
-
DR TCB, the clili sauce is bottled - I used Heinz yesterday. Wished I'd bought a second bottle, because I could have used a little more for the amount of cheese I grated. Oh, well, this batch of sandwiches will just be cheesier than usual.
-
Happy Birthday to DR BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happy Birthday to Iris!
-
Thanks, Kevin and Jennifer!

Happiest of Birthdays to DR BEN!
-
Loved reading about the recording in the notes today.....continued recording vibes for MR BK & Co.
Is Kyra related to Morton?
-
No news about the car yesterday, so hopefully I will hear something tomorrow. We are supposed to have MORE snow this week...some say on Tuesday....the almanac says Thursday....we shall see.
Lovely cat story from DR DAN M.
-
My nephew Danny and I had a fine day at the store yesterday and ended up with a nice sales total at the end of the day.
I like to be BUSY when I am working rather than standing around waiting to do something. You can only dust so much...and rearrange the shelves so many times. Early in the day, I moved things around and wouldn't you know it - more than half the things I put in new places sold!
-
Thanks, Jack!
-
And the word of the day is: GALLIGASKINS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: FANCY PANTS

Hap-Hap Slap-Happy Delicious Birthday Wishes To DR BEN
That Is All
-
Good morning, all.
The temperature here has dropped from 77 yesterday to 41 right now and getting colder. And rainier. Ugh.
-
Happy birthday, Ben!
-
Happy birthday, Lurker Iris!
-
Happy Birthday DR IRIS
Are You Sure You're Not SIRI ????
-
More vibes and xylophones for a splendiferous day of recording for BK, the music director, the singers, the engineer, the band, and all.
Loved reading about yesterday's session in the notes.
-
Instead of paying attention to the TV tonight, a few friends and I are headed out to a prime rib dinner.
-
Thanks John and Arnold.
-
Happy Birthday, Ben!
-
Happy Birthday, Iris!
-
Thank you, Druxy.
-
DR Dan I love your Minny story. All my cats have followed me around like a dog, admittedly some more than others :)
-
DR Cilla I never tire of your cat stories, and DR Dan that will be the same regarding Minny.

So sad, sounds like a drug overdose for Philip Seymour Hoffman. Damn drugs

Absolutely shocking!
He was one of our finest actors. He had the natural qualities of Spencer Tracy and Gene Hackman.
-
Just heard. The news of it is coming in from all sides. RIP.

That is so sad. :(
-
Phillip Seymour Hoffman dead at age 46. What a tragedy.
-
DR Dan I love your Minny story. All my cats have followed me around like a dog, admittedly some more than others :)
I did, too.
-
I'm sad at the news about Hoffman, but I wish I were more surprised by it. But what a sad waste of talent.
-
DR Dan I love your Minny story. All my cats have followed me around like a dog, admittedly some more than others :)
I did, too.
You followed Jane around like a dog ? LOL REALLY?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO DR BEN!
Have a wonderful day!
-
W are back from Alabama and now I only have 7 states to visit to complete all 50. We drove part of the scenic road through Talladega National Forest and then through the University of West Georgia when we returned to Carrollton. Perry and Pam both teach there.
-
HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO DEAR LURKER IRIS!
Have a great day and stop by HHW.
-
DR Dan I love your Minny story. All my cats have followed me around like a dog, admittedly some more than others :)
I did, too.
You followed Jane around like a dog ? LOL REALLY?
I was thinking the same thing.
-
Welcome home Ginny
-
I just baked a cherry pie. Can't wait until it cools to try it. I used cherry pie filling and didn't do it from scratch. Haven't made one before so I'll be curious how it comes out
-
Many moons ago I had a ginger cat who followed me over to a friend's house, about a block away, and meowed and meowed. Nothing was wrong that we could tell. I think he was just lonely and wanted attention. Everything was fine once we went home.
-

Sounds yummy. Did you make the crust?
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN!
-
In honor of Groundhog Day I'm wondering about P. Phil's lifestyle. I presume that groundhogs usually live in the ground, yet every time we see P. Phil he's clean and well-groomed. I believe he must live above ground, probably in a cage, and isn't really representative of groundhogs in general. Wouldn't that negate his observational skills?
-
Ah, here's our new DR. Dan M, did you lurk here for a bit before joining? You seem familiar with our HHWisms.
-
I'm sad at the news about Hoffman, but I wish I were more surprised by it. But what a sad waste of talent.
I agree with all 3 points...
-
Welcome home Ginny
Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I'm really looking forward to being HOME home tomorrow, even though the weather forecast for the middle of the week is not good.
-
I just baked a cherry pie. Can't wait until it cools to try it. I used cherry pie filling and didn't do it from scratch. Haven't made one before so I'll be curious how it comes out
Sounds yummy. Did you make the crust?
Naw. I get the Pillsbury pre-made crusts that you just unroll. They are pretty good. I never made any pies until this year when I had so many apples. I decided since I like the taste of the premade crusts why bother with making it
-
My mother was quite a good pie-maker, but I never took the time to learn. There's a knack to it. If the Pillsbury crusts are good, I'd use those, like you do. Didn't you say you have some sort of pie-making device?
-
Callie has been doing so well lately, I'm just amazed. Maybe she knows she won and I'm not going to travel so she has me to give her meds every day, or maybe she's just happy. She's started spending the evening in the livingroom with Ricky Boo and I. She used to stay upstairs all the time. Boo used to chase her out of the room and she's started just staying. She doesn't ever sit on my lap, never has since she was a kitten, but today she came amazingly close. She actually sat on the arm of the chair and let me pet her. I was amazed. I can't tell you how happy this all makes me. It was 10 years ago that the vet was telling me I may have to start thinking about whether it was better to put her to sleep....... I changed vets.
-

No, that wasn't me. I just use the premade crust, put in the filling and bake. I did make my own apple pie filling, but cherry is coming out of the can
-
Another vote here for Pillsbury pie crusts. I'd never make pies if I had to make the crust from scratch.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRIS!
-
Another vote here for Pillsbury pie crusts. I'd never make pies if I had to make the crust from scratch.
I can see where that would save a lot of time. I think of pie-making as very time-consuming, but perhaps it doesn't need to be.
-
DR Dan, does DC Minny bring you presents (of the rodent variety)?
-
Good Callie report from DR CILLA LIZ.
We also use the Pillsbury Pie Crusts....but I have to say that the Great Value Pie Crust from WalMart is just as good.
-

I can see where that would save a lot of time. I think of pie-making as very time-consuming, but perhaps it doesn't need to be.
Even my apple pies weren't that time consuming. Just peeling and cutting up the apples. Once that was done it was just mixing the stuff together and putting it in the crust. I never realized how easy it is to make pies. Now, they aren't the fabulous specialty pies, but they are good. I'm sort of sorry I found out how easy they are to make, lol
-
Shocking news about Philip Seymour Hoffman....whew! I enjoyed many of his performances, but especially liked him in DOUBT.
-
I enjoyed AUGUST:OSAGE COUNTY....if that's the word.
Meryl (click click click) Streep was good, Julia Roberts was good....but she's still not pretty....and some of the supporting performers were very good....Margo Martindale, Chris Cooper, and Benedict Cumberbatch....and then there were the awful performances: Ewan McGregor, Juliette Lewis, and Abigail Bresln.....
-
DR Dan, does DC Minny bring you presents (of the rodent variety)?
He has brought me birds, lizards and even (sorry to say) small bunnies. He has even tried to catch snakes for me. I have learned that this is the cat's way of "feeding" you and taking care of you just as you have of the cat. So, I thank Minny for caring for me even though the presents aren't what I want. I must remember that he doesn't know how to shop at Amazon!
-
Ah, here's our new DR. Dan M, did you lurk here for a bit before joining? You seem familiar with our HHWisms.
I actually never read the posts here, other than bk's on HHW and found a kindred spirit in humor.

Cats must find us humans quite unimaginative when we feed them canned or dry cat food.

I used to hate to make pie crust. Then a friend gave me a recipe for a dough made in the food processor. It proved too easy. Now, if I have a half-hour to let it set before I roll it out, I make my own. But if I need a pie quickly, I still use the Pillsbury sheets.

Watching the Hugh Jackman "Oklahoma!" I really enjoy seeing the Laurie dance the part as well as act and sing it.

If I'm not mistaken, galligaskins are handed out to the first five rows at a Gallagher performance. (. . . hello, the Seventies recalled that comment . . .).

I do know that my decision to return to giving her Bonita flakes has also helped in her wanting to be around me all the time. I quit giving them to her years ago when she started having her problems. I decided to try them again about a year ago. You'd think I found the fountain of youth
-
I'm practicing on my new Surface 2. I had to reset the thing a couple times to undo some mistakes I made in setting up outlook, but once I did, I love it. If it wasn't for work, I don't know that this would be the best option, but it has everything I need to work take work with me so it's perfect

And I am home. I got all of the Act One Piano/Conductor score for JUBILEE scanned and converted to pdf files. On Thursday, I will do Act Two, which is half the length of Act One. On Friday, while the piano tuner is there, I'll print and bind a couple of vocal scores.
Our birthday boy Ben and Anthony came by to visit, and we spent a couple of hours gossiping and catching up. It was lovely to see them.
I'll have a bit of dinner and chill out before tonight's DOWNTON ABBEY.
-
Thanks, Sing!
-
Yes, we had a wonderful, laugh-filled visit with Larry and we didn't talk about any of you!!!
We then went to our favorite restaurant, East of Eighth for dinner, stopped at Trader Joe's for a cake and we are home (we've been home for a while but I took a nap).
It's been a nice birthday. Thank you all.

In the last several weeks I have seen more Seahawks shirts than I can remember the count and only 1 Bronco's shirt.
-
I'm not watching the game, however, I had just checked the score before reading the post.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a Blossom Dearie CD.

I didn't make it in time. Today, I observed a run-through of "The House on Pooh Corner," for which I will be running the sound board. It's a cute show and the actors are having a great time. I went to Costco after rehearsal and got home a little more than an hour ago. I found Renée Fleming's National Anthem on YouTube HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7etXoNrwP8c). She certainly can sing and definitely didn't embarrass herself, like others have in the past. ::)

I first saw him off=off-Broadway around 1998 in a New York Theatre Workshop production of the British play Shopping and Fucking. Then, suddenly, he was in everything!

Umm...52 states??
-
Seattle: 29! Denver: 0!
Percy Harvin, wide receiver on Seattle's team just ran 78 yards for a touchdown!
-
W are back from Alabama and now I only have 7 states to visit to complete all 50. We drove part of the scenic road through Talladega National Forest and then through the University of West Georgia when we returned to Carrollton. Perry and Pam both teach there.

I wondered if anyone would catch this so I left it in-lol

Ah, here's our new DR. Dan M, did you lurk here for a bit before joining? You seem familiar with our HHWisms.
I actually never read the posts here, other than bk's on HHW and found a kindred spirit in humor.
So how did you find HHW, Dan M?
I collect movie soundtracks: I knew BK from his liner notes for various releases (from which I appreciated his taste and knowledge). Being an avid classic TV watcher, of course I knew BK from "The Partridge Family". Then, I discovered the Kritzerland website and found my way to BK's notes. His storytelling and humor got me through some tough times last year during my chemo treatments. I became interested in Kritzerland's re-imagined editions of some of the MGM/Rykodisc soundtrack series as well as the soundtrack to "Tom Jones", which I have loved since childhood. Now, here I am in the thick of it on the unseemly discussion board. A natural, and logical, progression.
-
It is very nice to have you here DR Dan.

Thank you DR Jane. I feel very much at home and am thankful to be here with people as nice as you.

ANOTHER TOUCHDOWN FOR SEATTLE!! 35 to ZERO!!
-
They also got the extra point...36 to 0.
-
Awww. Had you joined in last year we would have been here to support you.
-
They also got the extra point...36 to 0.
I know you are enjoying this but it really is a sad game.
-
Does anyone here follow golf? My friend's son just won the Phoenix open. I think she is about to explode with joy.

Yes DR DAN M - it is nice to find someplace to fit in.

Well, guess what? Denver FINALLY scored...twice. They now have 8 points.

George your updates are faster than the link I'm looking at. I only saw 6 points.

They ran instead of kicked for the extra 2 points.

Update again: 43 to 8!

Thanks, and for the update after this post.

Well, it's not over, but there's no way that Denver can come back and win. The trophy has entered the stadium.
-
Is the trophy earlier than usual?

Is the trophy earlier than usual?
I have no idea. They just showed someone walking on the side of the field with the trophy getting ready for the presentation.
-
AND IT'S OVER AND OFFICIAL!! Seattle won!
-
And the fireworks here in Tumwater have started. :P
-
Well...

I just watched DOWNTON ABBEY. Poor Lady Edith! They love to keep her tres miserable! She is such a sad sack.
-
Time for bed! Physical therapy tomorrow, following a bank trip, then the post office and the pharmacy. And Staples.
-
Congratulations George and enjoy the fireworks.

I saved room for pop corn tonight and Keith didn't make any.

My question is why are the perpetuating this myth?? I'd read that the groundhog only has a 29% accuracy rate, anyway...so what's the point?
It's fun.
-
LOL. We knew what the results would be this year.
I'm still waiting for snow.
-
DR Ben I'm glad you had a nice birthday.
Me, too.
-
Just wondering if anyone could recommend a Blossom Dearie CD.
For Christmas this year, I got a 2-CD set called "Four Classic Albums Plus," which is what it says, a collection of four discs in one. She's wonderful. I also love her on the Ben Bagley albums, especially Cole Porter Revisited Vol. 3 and some of the Rodgers and Hart. She sings a killer version of Moon of My Delight from Elmore's favorite Chinese eunuch musical, "Chee Chee."

Finally home from another long and arduous session. Some of the charts in this show are so inept, in my opinion, none more so than the outrageously long Shoes dance number - we're trying to do the entire show, but had I known that number was like that I would have refused to record it. As it is, we'll now do the mix, but I've already alerted everyone that I think we're going to have to do a pick-up session for the two brass and one reed - and maybe even an hour with the rhythm section. But I think we have enough separation on the piano that we'll get away with just the horns.
-
Sunday morning greetings! We decided to sleep in, which I did until just before 8 and Richard is still doing. Today we're going to take a drive across the Alabama line so I can add that to my "states visited" list. We told Perry & Pam we'd be at their house in time to hear Renee Fleming sing the National Anthem.
;)
I didn't care for the tempo at first, but about half-way through, I was won over. And the ending is thrilling.
-
Even though the game was pretty one sided I still really enjoyed the Super Bowl. It was fun seeing so much scoring. And there was great food! I had the most delicious gourmet doughnut. It was lemon meringue. So yummy!
Also I won $50 in the football pool.
-
Congratulations, Jennifer!
-
Glad the recording session is largely over. Vibes for the mix.
-
Went out with friends for prime rib instead of watching the game. I think we make out just fine. And I have enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Ditto and ditto!!

Good night, all.

Well, I laughed, I cheered, I shed a few tears; but in the end the Seattle Seahawks are the World Champions!

Congrats to the SeaHawks fans. And Congrats to Jennifer. I have found the game much more interesting when I was in a pool. I watched Downton and practiced my flute
-
I have really don't nothing today (other than bake a pie) but it's just want I needed to do

And now to bed.

Just wrote almost four pages and will write another one or two after I take a shower and wash this long day off me.

DR Ginny, do you bring home refrigerator magnets or something from each state?
Magnets? I used to bring back men. But they would never stick to the refrigerator.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Ben!

Happy Birthday, DR Iris!

Tonight, I did my first of a series of Sunday Nights dinners at my apartment. I had my friend Sabrina and her husband Alan over.
For the first ever Sunday dinner, we had Roasted chicken, fried potatoes, Brussel sprouts with bacon, romain lettuce with croutons, craisins, goat cheese and mustard vinaigrette, and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce and cream de menthe
It was a success!

Have you been to North Carolina yet? Perhaps you'd like to drive through to Lumberton, North Carolina, oh, and while there would you perhaps pick up my cell phone, which I left behind?

I hope the shoe dance makes it on the CD. It will be a great resource for those doing the show. But you're right, it's long and it's blech.

Yes, we had a wonderful, laugh-filled visit with Larry and we didn't talk about any of you!!!
Why not?

Thanks DR vixmom! I wish I could have joined at that time, but I didn't have the strength to even watch TV most days. I'm hoping that by joining you all at this time, with your good humor and positive thoughts, will help me keep the cancer in remission forever!

Dan, I can vouch for the vibes and good wishes of this wonderful and rather magical group of people.
Thanks DR TCB, vibes and xylophones (and even marimbas) always work. Several friends of mine said prayers for me in their respective prayer circles. A Navajo friend of mine had a medicine man say prayers for me and a Hopi healer did as well (she does long-distance healings). I am no longer skeptical of such things. In January 2013, my PET scan showed that the cancer was in every part of my body. My oncologist said I was the worst case she ever had. By December 2013, the latest PET scan was taken, all the cancer was gone! Literally a clear picture.

I think the sound may be synched from a soundboard recording.
