Well, you've read the notes, the notes believed the notes could fly, and now it is time for you to post until the flying cows come home.

DR George, interesting about Weston but a shame he couldn't keep his family name.

I know...you'd think he would've just added his middle name or initial.  Vanessa L. Williams is the former Miss America and sometimes has to use her middle name because there already was a Vanessa Williams in SAG or Equity.

Larry, that's a very nice piece about your father. Christmas in the Holler looks like a wonderful piece. I hope I can get to see it.

Good morning, all.

I hadn't planned on seeing Man of Steel, but I'm really planning on skipping it now. And, of course, on the stereo a song called "My Superman" just started. Weird how that happens.

TCB: What are 9/11 trauma books?

Studies of how people have lived through trauma and how they respond to it. In this case, they all deal with survivors of 9/11 and the theories (or lack thereof) used to examine their reactions.

Today's notes remind me of the song BK wrote:

Superman is Dead

About George Reeves suicide (or murder)

Does anyone know how I can post a mp3 so I can share it?

Good morning, all.

No one need fret over whether I'd see Man of Steel or ANY Superman creation since Christopher Reeves.  Boy, we didn't know how good we had it then.  (I might have seen the second film once straight through, but I honestly don't remember.  Pretty sure I never saw the third, and I'm certain I didn't see the fourth or anything that has come around since.)  I just wish I still had my stack of Superman-related comics from the early '60s.  It wasn't a huge collection, but I loved them.

I like this summary in the notes:  "Let me just cut to the chase here – simply put, everything I hate about today’s movies wrapped up in one loathsome and horrible package."  I manage to stay pretty insulated from all of those horrible movies of today, but that says it all about how I feel when I do go to the theater and I'm watching one brain-numbing trailer after another.

The lyrics are:

My hero
The Man of Steel
My hero who could fly
Who never bled
He put a bullet in his head
And it never should have hurt him
But the newspapers said
Superman is dead

My hero
The Man of Steel
The bullets would just bounce right off his chest
And who would have ever guessed
That the man of steel was just a man
the newspapers said
Superman is dead

All those fanciful flights I dream
All those fanciful nights it seems
are gone
the dream is gone
shattered
don't tell me it never really mattered
it did

My hero
The Man of Steel
My hero who has left me all alone
but if he only could have only known
the feeling in my heart when
the newspapers said
Superman is dead

Superman is dead

When I went out this morning the side of my car was all gross. All kinds of dirty splatter. A big thank you to the car who zoomed past me and did this. :(

I am getting ready to go and see my niece in her swim meet today.  This time instead of one 25 m lap they are swimming 50m front crawl, 50 m back stroke and 100m Individual Medley. And her favorite 25m back streamline. For some reason she is very very good at this. Last time they did this I think she finished 2nd overall (out of 100 girls).

I hope I will be less nervous than last time.

There are only 2 more meets after this (at my pool and at my niece's pool). And then the semi finals and finals. Although I have no idea how that works or how many kids will be invited.

Last night I watched the 3rd episode of Bitten, which is based on one of my favorite book series. This episode was really good.

A lot of the book's fans were not sure about the lead male. But he is really growing on me, even if he doesn't look exactly how I pictured him.

Good morning, all! I slept really poorly. When the alarm rang, I went back to bed for 40 more minutes. I am happy that tomorrow I go back to physical therapy; it seems weeks since my last session, and i do need to get my walking skills back.

BK, I did see it! Thanks for the link to Sid Ramin's video! He's a lovely gentleman. I had a wonderful lunch with him and Charlie Harmon around 2001 at the Central Park Boathouse.  I haven't seen him in a couple of years, and I have the impression from friends who've seen him recently that he's now showing his age.  I wish him the best.

DR Matthew, if you have never seen the wonderful Olivia de Haviland film of THE HEIRESS, find a copy and enjoy. It's a great cast, and it's such a brilliant adaptation. The remake "Washington Square" may be closer to the original James novel, but both novel and remake lack the vicious dramatics of the Goetz play and movie.  An added bonus is its Aaron Copland score, orchestrated by Jerome Moross.

There are two enormous (to me) clams in that piece abut my Dad that I need to have corrected. Thank you, all, for the nice comments about it.

Most of my day today will be tied up with 2013 taxes, and I will spend this week juggling taxes and tallies with LITTLE ME at Encores!  Most of today will be digging up receipts on the computer for online purchases. At some point, Rob Berman and I will talk about ROBERTA casting, and it will be a nice break fem the tax megillah.

I did not watch ALL of Man of Steel....couldn't get through it....  I also loved the TV series and watched it faithfully whenever it was on....I even have all six seasons on DVD so now I can watch whenever I want to!

I liked the comic books, especially ones that dealt with Krypton or the city in a bottle Kandor....and I don't think ANY of the Superman movies has really gotten that part of the story right.

I like Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane a lot....I like Noel Neill, too, but by the time she came along on tv, the stories weren't as dark or interesting.....

I shall soon be on my way to the opening matinee of Achilles/Achilles Son.....at 1 p.m. followed by a gala in the Great Hall....hopefully I will be home by 6 p.m.

If the FRIGID COLD weather predicted for Monday and Tuesday closes the campus, our performances are also canceled, so who knows how many of the four we will actually get to do....

OUCH!   :P

I finished the first draft of my new 3-character play yesterday.

Now, I'm going to put it into a drawer for a few weeks, then come back to it with fresh eyes after I complete another project.

DR Elmore, one of my chores this week is to find a copy of "The Heiress" movie.  Thanks for the nudge.

I'm off to a day in church.
