I don't know Evening Primrose. I know it was a TV production, but nothing else. I run hot and cold with Sondheim. I have loved Sweeney Todd for eons, all but wearing out the LPs of the OCR I had in college. "Not a Day Goes By" from Merrily We Roll Along and "What Can You Lose?" from Dick Tracy are huge favorites of mine. Sunday in the Park is so innovative and interesting. Anyone Can Whistle and Company have some amazing material, but also some songs I feel are mediocre. And although theater people love it, I always thought Follies was a boring monstrosity. Sacrilege, I know. Into the Woods was a letdown too (am I the only person who thought "No One is Alone" was a ripoff of "The Candy Man"?). Someday I hope to find time to drill Bounce into my brain, but I figure it's probably his last full score, and I guess I've been saving it.
Unsung Sondheim is one of my favorite CDs, and I do genuinely look forward to hearing Primrose.
