How was the show, DR Cillaliz?
Oy! I just wrote a long post about the show and the site said I wasn't logged in so I lost it.
Ok, let's see....overall, I really enjoyed the show. I wouldn't give it a rave review, but it was good and I'm very glad I went.
There are actually 6 people in the "orchestra" 3 keyboards, guitar, bass and drums. I thought the arrangements worked fine. You have to understand we have had non-equity shows with canned music. Having real musicians is a good thing.
Cameron Wade played Eva. She has a very sweet voice. This worked in some places, but sometimes I would have liked a little more edge to it. Overall she did a very good job and her performance got stronger as the show progressed.
Omar Lopez-Cepero was Che. He was great.
Philip Peterson was Juan Peron and he had a fabulous voice. When he started singing it was one of those "Whoa, this guy can sing" moments. He's played Che and Magaldi in the past.
So, it was an enjoyable evening. The house (2500) was sold out or nearly sold out. The audience gave a standing ovation, but not until Che and Eva were taking their bows and it was more of a polite standing O rather than a jump up and scream standing O. The buzz after the show all sounded positive.
