Good morning, all! I went to bed early and missed a telephone call from Mr Skip Kennon. I slept rsther well, with bizarre dreams featuring my mother and her demented, slovenly housekeeping and a production of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well.
Today, I have several phone calls to return, possibly a trip to the NYPL at Lincoln Center, which I could put off till tomorrow, and work on an opening night gift for my friend Ron Raines.
There's been a rumor circulating for years that someone at Warner Brothers is boycotting a VHS/DVD release of Ken Russell's shocker THE DEVILS, which is one of my favorite films. I would like to see the film in a good print once again before I die, since it's based on a wonderful play by John Whiting and a fantastic history by Aldous Huxley, The Devils of Loudon. All three pose the question: which are the devils, the "possessed" nuns or the exorcists and their supporters?
Other Russell films I like: WOMEN IN LOVE, THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM, SALOME'S LAST DANCE, TOMMY, THE BOY FRIEND
