All of her friends have their own cellphones. We got the Vixter one the summer between 7th & 8th grade so she was 13. That summer she was in music camp all day (she had won a scholarship from school) and she was rehearsing two different shows in the evening in a church that had no public use phone available. Since she was out of the house on her own so much we decided to get her the phone that year - we were originally planning on waiting until she got to high school. We discovered form talking to her friends' and school mates' parents that she was one of the last to get a phone - most of them had been given phones as soon as they begamn middle school at age 11 or 12 and many had phones as young as 7 or 8.

I cannot imagine what a 7 year old needs with a cellphone unless they are allowed to be out and about on their own - not the usual situation nowadays in my neighborhood.

Another thing i read/heard is that they might follow the french version and allow the judges to have a one time veto that could be used to save one of the better contestants (like a jennifer hudson, chris daughtry.

We are going through the cell phone debate with Gabe right now. "All the kids have one," blah, blah, blah. Well, not *quite* all, since Gabe doesn't, LOL. Next year, because he's in advanced math, he'll be walking to high school from middle school for an early morning math class, so we think we'll get him one before then, which would more or less line up with the Vixter's age.

If they do offer the judges a veto power (one per judge), it should only be a one-time deal, and could only be used to save someone once and never again.

It looks like the move to Austin is going to be postponed for a few days.

Although the loan for the sale of our Los Angeles house has been approved and "locked," the documents have not been signed yet, which means that escrow can't close before next week. So, instead of starting our 5-day drive on Sunday (15), it probably won't begin until the latter part of the week.

There's always something, isn't there?

Yes, the My Fair Lady cast album was HUGE, but they had a smash hit AND Columbia was an investor in the show. A Family Affair (I owned the cast album when it came out) I'm sure sold very few LPs, although there was, even then, a collector's market - I'm sure it sold somewhere between 1000 and 3000 LPs.
