They were predicting rain for us today, too, but it is nice and blue out. Kerry and I could have told them it would not rain; he wasn't limping and I didn't have a headache.

So, my son was doing some stuff on my computer last night - spyware, virus scans, etc. - and now the computer won't recognize my camera card.

That's grounds for putting him into a coma. Or buying him his own computer.

Anybody watch The Last Templar?

Some really sloppy editing (quick scene jumps, no doubt to save time) and at least one egregious scripting error (We see Heroine, disguised as a Doctor, enter a hospital room, and after her exit, the killer enters and does his deed; when the detective recounts the security videos he says that a man entered first, followed by the disguised Doctor - which would have made the heroine the obvious murderer).

It's so hokey it's funny.

Men disguised as medieval knights come roaring out of Central Park and up the stairs into the Art Museum (decapitating a cop en route) to rob an exhibit; Miro Sorvino grabs a papal crosier, "borrows a cop's horse, and pursues the Knights back into the park - and unhorses one in a joust. Meanwhile, the police at the Museum have a discussion about the desirability of rejoining the slain cop's head with his body before moving him to the morgue. A key plot point - the horses must have been borrowed from a police stable, because only cop horses can climb steps).

Stay tuned - the finale is tonight (thank God TNT re-runs the Closer and ABCFam reruns Kyle XY or I'd miss 24)

Here's a commercial announcement for those of you who live in the Los Angeles area...or are willing to fly in.

 ::)

I will be signing copies of my book, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD: From  the Secret Files of Harry Pennypacker, on this comong Saturday, January 31st, at 1 pm at the Mystery and Imagination Bookstore, 238 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA 91203.

The phone number of the store is 818-545-0206.

So, please drop everything.  Quit your job.  Leave your spouse.  And, just get on a plane and attend this gala event.

Thanks.

 ;D

I'm tempted.  My grandnephew is turning one and I would love to see him.  The fares are actually decent with the cheapest round trip at around $540.  For that "great" fare I can fly through Portland or Seattle, non stop is more expensive & difficult to get.

I bet there are better deals between L.A. & the East Coast.

NPR did a big story yesterday on fare wars--they're the lowest they've ever been.  Most airlines are now offering $49 fares one way to major cities.

I looked for some of those deals.  They aren't happening from here :( at least I couldn't find them.  Visiting L.A. would be nice & I would like to visit my friend in Philadelphia & as a bonus see Craig.  For a good price I would even go while it is cold.

Try SW.  They're always running deals.  Sandy and I are going to Austin again the first week in march for about $438.00 round trip.

It helps that they fly to Austin.  They do not stop in Medford.

I'm really not interested in getting involved in another series right now

Is that why you do not include THE BIG BANG THEORY and/or WORST WEEK on your Monday viewing?

Do you mean today or at all?

They're not on the list today because they're reruns, and unless a rerun is of something notable, I usually don't include it in my daily listings.

I dropped HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER last year. It just didn't live up to its second season which I thought was far better than the first year. BIG BANG THEORY I can only take in small doses, maybe a couple of episodes a year.

Favorite Bonds:

You Only Live Twice
The Spy Who Loved Me
Licence to Kill
Goldeneye
Casino Royale (the Craig list version)

(The World Is Not Enough comes close, but Danise Richards is so very wrong)

For me, Danise Richards ruins every SECOND of the movie she's in. If someone else had been cast who could act a brilliant scientist, it might have been my favorite Brosnan Bond film. Like you, I prefer GOLDENEYE of the four he did.

The temperature has steadily dropped throughout the day. When I went out to get  my second UPS package of the day, it was FRIGID feeling outside. It was not all that cold at lunch and definitely not that cold when I got the newspaper this morning.

I had a couple of packages to mail today, so when I got in from lunch, I headed out to the post office to mail them. It was the longest line I've ever seen at the post office. Longer than any line during Christmas. What's up with THAT?

I spent most of the afternoon watching FRIDAY THE 13th - Part 2. Gag. Any freshness or uniqueness from the first film is thoroughly gone in the second one which is basically a copycat film with lazy writing and so formulaic in construction as to make one despair. More of the murders were shown close up in this one, and two adults get killed along with many in the camp.

One more to go, but it's several discs down in the stack.

Thank you to DRs Elmore, FJL, DAW, Jennifer, Jose, and Jane for vibes for my mom.  She had a skin cancer removed from her face today.  She was a trooper, but was pretty wiped out when I took her home about an hour ago.  Her neighbors were also in the office, the husband having a similar procedure, so they'll probably compare notes in the next few days.

No chance of that. It's Warners, and I'm not ever offered their TV releases on DVD. I did luck out and get to do SUPERNATURAL on Blu-ray, but I doubt BIG BANG will be a Blu-ray release.

Right, BIG BANG is a rerun tonight.  WORST WEEK is not.  Have you seen the show?  We dropped MOTHER the year before.  We caught a couple of them last year & were disappointed.

I also had time to watch two of the bonus features on the disc. One was a Q&A with Peter Bracke about his book CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES with some good information about how the second film came about and why it was such a slavish copy of the first instead of something different.

The second was a little documentary about a horror convention where several participants in the FRIDAY movies were attending as celebrity lures.

There's a 30 minute documentary on the character of Jason which I'll watch when I go back down. The trailer and one other bonus (part 2 of a little horror short that was on the first FIRDAY disc) are the remaining features I'll get to later.

My TV guide didn't indicate that WORST WEEK was new so that's why I was misled. Consider it added to the list.

Actually, I'm surprised it isn't new because CBS has RULES OF ENGAGEMENT waiting to come back to that spot, and I figured they'd go ahead and run out their order of WORST WEEK as soon as they could so they could get to RULES OF ENGAGMENT which garners much higher ratings than WORST WEEK ever has. I'd be very surprised if WORST WEEK gets renewed for a second season.

Somewhat dire news for fans of UGLY BETTY. Here's a story I just cut and pasted from VARIETY:

ABC is shuffling its comedy deck, adding a Thursday night laffer block to the mix.
Alphabet net will bow new comedy "In the Motherhood" on Thursdays at 8 p.m. starting March 26, pairing the half-hour with sophomore comedy "Samantha Who."

Net also plans to move "Scrubs" to Wednesdays at 8 p.m. starting March 18, and pair it with new laffer "Better off Ted."

The Thursday block will displace "Ugly Betty," which the net said will return after "Motherhood" and "Samantha" complete their runs.

It didn't say if you can continue reading in tunnels or elevators. ;)
