Well, you've read the notes, the notes had looser pants, and now it is time for you to post until the looser cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DIAPASON!
-
Vibes for TCB's niece.
-
First post after BK!
-
When I was in college, I took different classes where we learned about different kinds of music, including atonal and twelve-tone technique. Not a fan of either atonal and twelve-tone technique. ::)
-
The university's music library had a record sale each year. One year, I got more than a dozen boxed set albums and two of them were Philip Glass' Satyagraha (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000002621/) and Akhnaten (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000026GR/). I don't know why I bought these, but I listened to them and really enjoyed them...still do.
-
Today, my sister will be down at Olympia's Farmer's Market at a table for PFLAG. I'm going to go down there and sit with her from noon until about 3:00.
-
But first, sleep.
Good night and have a good day, all!
Spelling corrected. ;)
-
Good morning to all

At the begining of this year I had a successful production of my play, Heroes: Fighting In the AIDS Trenches. A producer was interested in adapting one of the stories into a film and I started writing a screenplay adaptation. It turned out that subject of the story did not have the correct information about who had the film rights to her story and I had to drop it.
But out of lemons came lemonade with two additional shows. One going into prodution and one in the pre-production stages.
I can't reveal the title of the show or who is going to be in it until the contracts are signed, but the first show will tour the US in one-offs (usually 1-3 performances) at smaller performance venues starting in the 2019-2020 and if it's a success beyond that.
I have an additional play that is also in the works and the producer is looking at getting a well-known actor who has received a Tony nomination and has been in a popular TV series and its film spinoffs to play the title role. Once he is confirmed, I will also reveal the title and star, but aiming for Spring of 2019 to start work on it.
Which brings me back to the first play. I spoke with the subject of the play earlier in the week and she is not happy with the producer who has her film rights and is in the process of terminating her relationship with her and with her LA lawyer who set up deal; which she says will then bring me and the producer back into the running to get the film options. Of course nothing will happen until to we have an agreement signed in front of us.
And has Stephen Sondheim said, "That is the state of the art, my dear, That is the state of the art."
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was a rambunctious night with Annabelle and Thatch, who seemed unable to settle down. Maybe it was the first really chilly night in the apartment?
-
I chased Thatch around until nearly midnight to give him his medicine. One I did and he stopped fighting me, he crawled into bed next to me. Annabelle arrived sometime after 2:00am.

Arthur Fiedler remains one of my favorite conductors ever and so much better than any "pod" conductors who followed him. He had a sense of humor and a real knowledge of how to conduct a classical piece as well as a popular song. Leroy Anderson owes much of his career to being one of Fiedler's favorite writers and arrangers.
I have this theory that it's because he was trained in the early 20th century conservatories where musicians had to "learn" music. Today, a lot of lazy conductors learn a score by listening to another conductor's recording.

I'm meeting my friend Ella Martin at 11 for coffee. I'm looking forward to that. Otherwie, I'll be here all weekend with How To Succeed . . .
-
Many vibes for TCB's niece.
-
Thanks, JRand and FJL for the good wishes. To answer your question, FJL, I'm staying where I am. I would really like a bigger condo, but everything is so expensive here.
-
Vibes for the niece of DR TCB.....scary.

Oh my was it a great audience for SiSTER ACT last night - they ate us up....laughter and applause all around....
So happy for everyone that it is such a success....we are SOLD OUT tonight - and that rarely happens in that theatre.....so I am hoping we are up to the task. My guess is, that we ARE!

TOD:
Carmina Burana
Robert Adams: Doctor Atomic

Birdy Barnum enjoyed Miss Dorothy Provine's singing and joined her in several duets....he is less impressed Miss Annette Funicello....
Neither however get him going like Miss Eydie Gorme and the bossa nova.....

Good morning, all.

I had a pretty solid sleep, but was still awakened a little too early by little paws softly tapping my face.
More coffee!

Vibes and prayers for T.CBs dear neice

Thoroughly enjoyed DIRTY DANCING last night. I had never seen it in a theater, just in its first home video releases on Beta or laserdisc.
I’ve always had a couple of very mild criticisms, but let’s not argue with success. It hits all the notes it ever intended to hit and is practically perfect in every way. What a crowd pleaser. Producer Mitchell Cannold and his wife (they met on the production) were in attendance, and an informative and enjoyable Q&A session followed the movie.
The playhouse threw a great opening night partay, and I can only imagine how splendid tonight’s gala will be. I’ll sort through the pictures I took and post a few later.
-
It's about time to step out.
-
Looser pants. Yes. Please.
-
For a magnificently played and recorded symphonic soundtrack score that goes places, do not miss John Corigliano’s ALTERED STATES.
That just popped into my head. There’s a lot of “out there” and “far out” music of various types that I really enjoy.
-
Strong vibes for TCB’s niece.

This and BK’s notes are very nice summations of the world of Mr. Fiedler.
Leroy Anderson, yes! In the classical arena, his Gaite Parisienne (both recordings, but especially the earlier one which was one of the first Living Stereos), his Nutcracker Ballet excerpts, and his New World Symphony are tops. There’s another Offenbach album, and I have a few more of the splendid “pop” RCAs I should dig out. And now I'm remembering that a year or so ago I picked up his Frank Loesser album, and have yet to listen to it.
-
Wow Michael ! Break a leg vibes for all these ventures. I am excited to hear more when you can release the information
-
Yes congrats to DR MICHAEL on his anticipated success.
-
Birdy Barnum's newest favorite chanteuse is Miss Teresa Brewer.
-
I concur with the comments about Mr Arthur Fiedler....and Mr Leroy Anderson's LP of the songs from CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG is glorious.
-
One of my nit picky criticisms of DIRTY DANCING is that the father seems to be driving the Edsel to the resort with the gear shift in PARK.

I'd taken this Leroy Anderson parody off, as a friend of Howard Kissel said she thought he laughed but was confused how he became known for his hair (she said it's just his hair, not a style she thought he particularly chose as any statement), and I wrote to him, he said OK, but it stayed "unlisted" as I did hear that from his friend. I had no idea we were so close to losing him when he wrote back.)

There's one of the people who appeals to Senator Jeff Flake yesterday (Friday) at the elevator whose cries really bring to mind Tuptim appealing to the King during the "Small House..." number, only of course Tuptim does not fully get her feelings out, and we go right back to the number. But yesterday, the voter did get to say all she wanted (maybe) as CNN cameras were there, and whatever your politics, no denying she made change by daring to detain the elevator.
I won't link it, as my feeling was not about the politics, but both are easy to find on the net. The emotions feel almost identical.

I am home from a lovely brunch with Ella and her husband Tim. When I stopped at Broadway Farms, I ran into Mark and his father. I had not seen them in 13 years since I left Barnes & Noble. Mark, who's now 38, is severely mentally and physically challenged, and a photo of us from B&N hangs on my refrigerator. His father told me today that Mark stays during the week at a special home in northern Manhattan and comes home on weekends. That kind man, besides being a mensch and a loving father, has the patience of Job. It was really nice to see them.

Some of the chat got me in the mood for Steve and Eydie.
Love this:

"Hallelujah" sung by Steve and Eydie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l7gTe0bDDY
Legend has it their names for so avoided by DJs they released it as "Parker and Penny," but DJs who'd played it pulled back once words got out Parker and Penny were Steve and Eydie.
although this suggests it's just a legend, but it was just "contractual reasons," it's a thought as to why contractually.

Time to shower and head out the Performance Three of SISTER ACT....and hoping our audience is as with it tonight as the previous two have been.....

I am about to have a major panic attack. I do not know where Annabelle is. I don't know if she sneaked while I was loaded down with trash going to the basement, or if she's found a new hiding place in this apartment. I only know she's on none of her usual sleeping spots, and I've been through every floor and I cannot find her. She's not coming when I call and my rattling her jar of treats has produced nothing. Thatch has eaten and he keeps trying to get out, which makes me think she did sneak out.
I'm hoping I will later look like a fool over this, but where the hell is she?
-
Can you put Thatch someplace safe and leave your door cracked open? Then watch and see if see comes in or attempts to head out.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Vibes for TCB’s niece.
-
Thank you, TCB, for the birthday wishes.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I do believe I got ten hours of sleep, which I really needed, although most of the day is gone.
-
Jrand, Leroy Holmes did the Chitty album :)
-
I am back from a walking and was hoping to see that Annabelle has been found :-\
VIBES SHE IS SAFE!
-
While while it began to drizzle and then turn into a light rain. It was odd because I couldn't really feel it on portions of my alien arm.

I am back from a walking and was hoping to see that Annabelle has been found :-\
VIBES SHE IS SAFE!
Thanks, but there has been no sign of her. The irony is, tomorrow is the anniversary of her adoption. I am not coping well at all.
-
I suggest walking through the building again shaking her treats and calling her. I would also stop and listen outside every door.

I picked up the jar of treats and headed for the door. On a whim I stood by the linen closet and shook the jar - again! - turned for my keys and when I turned back, she was sitting at my feet. I have no idea where in hell she's been since I went through all of her sleeping places. I've had a nervous breakdown and she looks at me like nothing's happened.
-
OH MY GOD! :) :) :)
-
About five years ago Nathan and I (Kristi was out somewhere) went through a night like you just went through. (This had nothing to do with the thing I just sent you.)
I will NEVER forget the torment. And the joy. Not ever.
-
Glad to hear Anabellle was safe.
-
Vibes for TCB's niece.
-
Thanks, DR Michael. What convinced me she was out of the apartment was the fact she didn't come for dinner. I just went down and removed the Missing Cat poster with her picture from the postboxes. I have to do the same now for Craig's List.

I have had that happen many a time. They sleep hard-lol.
Some of our cats have found a little opening in the lining under the bed and made sleeping compartments. Back then we could easily crawl under the bed if we needed to. At the least we looked under for a lump. Next time you have someone who is agile at your place ask them to make sure there isn't a hiding spot under your bed.
-
DR elmore I had forgotten to ask if you looked inside the frig. Always a good place to look, just to be safe.

I am extremely relieved Annabelle finally made an appearance and you can both celebrate her one year anniversary tomorrow.

Bruce, HEREDITARY is a horror film starring Toni Collette & Gabriel Byrne. I am not a fan of horror movies to begin with. While Keith likes horror movies, the reason we watched this, he didn't like it either. We both agree the acting was good.
-
Wonderful to hear your news, Elmore.
-
On a Bea Arthur kick. This is real campy. I like how Bea at 1:20 or so spots us in living rooms at home and sings to us.
I guess the young girl who played Punky Brewster didn't sing, but played being sung to pretty well?

Hello, everyone.

A BIG CONGRATS to DR KEVIN on his retirement!
I hope it's wonderful!

MEGA VIBES to TCB's niece for a successful recovery!

VIBES to DR MICHAEL on his artistic ventures.

As there really wasn't much of the day left, I did some errands and whatnot, picked up a package and an important envelope, then went to Barone's and had the perfect Keto meal - small dinner salad with house dressing and shrimp scampi with some vegetables on the side. I'm quite full and very garlicky.
-
Then I came home, listened to music, and wrote half the commentary. I'll try to write the other half later this evening. For now, the couch is calling me like so much fish.

I had the perfect Beto meal: tried to duplicate the Whataburger drive-thru special.

How does Beto stay in shape with what he eats?

Finished with my viewing and listening to music (Virgil Thomson) and about to write more commentary.

Page four? Really?

And barely page four at that.

I am tired, 'night

Finished the commentary - had a few slices of Swiss cheese for my evening snack - there were HOLES in it. What's up with THAT?

Hi, Tom.

Finally, I can post!!

I have been trying for over an hour.

The problem is, of course, my WIFI (not wife).

I finally had to dig out my laptop and boot it up.

Bruce, why don't you go back to jogging? You always seem to best when you jog, along with the diet.

Congratulations to DR Michael for all your current projects.

Thank you all for the vibes and the prayers for my niece.

They released her to go home today after yesterday's surgery.

The surgeon had to reopen the incision in her head and peal back.... well, anyway.

When I first moved into my place with my cat Ebonie, my sister was helping me unpack. We were very dilligent about keeping the door closed, but at some point, we couldn't find her! Ebonie somehow disappeared!
-
We looked out back, outside the fence, out front and all over! We couldn't find her anywhere! About an hour later, Ebonie just appeared out of nowhere!
-
It turned out that she found a little crawlspace in a gap between a couple of kitchen cabinets that neither my sister nor I had noticed!
-
Talk about being relieved!
-
Fortunately, I found a board that just fit the gap, so she couldn't get back under there. And Neve doesn't know about it. ;)
-
I am extremely relieved Annabelle finally made an appearance and you can both celebrate her one year anniversary tomorrow.
Neve's Gotcha Day is coming up, too...October 9. :)

Sorry, I got kicked out of my laptop.

I give up. Nothing is working.

Sure, now that worked.

Larry, I am so relieved that you found Annabelle, safe and sound.

I guess I had better quit while I am ahead.
