Haven’t read the notes yet, but have landed in Athens.

Since the table was the cause if yesterday's fall, I spent some time looking for a 36x36 table looking sturdy enough to suit me. I need that damned tax return before I can do anything about it, though.

Vibes that something comes along that can provide an inflow of money so you won't have to live so precariously financially, so hand to mouth!

Is there some way to force some money for the inherited property?

Roof is done! There's more work to be done (some siding and interior repairs), which I think will be scheduled for next week. The roof - and it's fairly large as roofs go - took two full days. But I'm always amazed that that's ALL they take.

And now if you'll excuse me, I've got to gather up a few more things that can go into the dumpster before it goes away. Hopefully that isn't today, but we want to get rid of some more crucial and annoying items while we can.

Bad morning: spilled coffee, dealing with this broken table, Annabelle keeps whining . . .

Shoot me.

But the garage only holds 12 cars, so some of us will have to carpool.

Not enough. That's probably only two or three catering trucks.

Oh no! Those mornings are awful, and I think we’ve all had quite enough of them lately, thank you very much.

Update n last night's films. American Fiction was a successful adaptation of the novel, but the basic changes were sometimes a little too sitcom or pat for me. Still I laughed out loud n certain places. I cried in a couple.

Jeffrey Wright was excellent, as always. Ever since Basquiat and Bring in da Noise, he's been a favorite.

Anatomy of a Fall is long at 152 minutes, but I didn't see a minute that I would cut. Sandra Huller was robbed of the Oscar. It's a very Liv Ullman kind of performance, a lot going on in the face and not always the vocabulary (in three languages, no less) to articulate it.

The boy is spectacular. Kudos to the dog.

It's a murder mystery/courtroom drama meets Scenes from a Marriage. Maybe my favorite of last year's best picture nominees that I have seen so far.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks had an insurmountable drawback, which is reality. It's the story of a white woman who sent years and her own money to get the story of the black woman behind a tissue sample and blood cells that changed the world. True story. But it still places Rose Byrne center stage, not Oprah Winfrey or the rest of George Wolfe's great cast.

It makes me want to read the book.

Lesson learned: Hire Leslie Uggams if you need an older woman. Despite her mangling of June Is Bustin' Out All Over in that infamous clip, she's still got it.

I think it's Leslie Uggams who wore Dolores Gray's red dress from It's Always Fair Weather when she was singing in a nightclub in Two Weeks In Another Town......

Congrats on being re-roofed to DR CHAS SMITH.

Yes when anyone in the family has something done to his house and it involves a dumpster - we all add our contributions.

Major problems with VRBO. Never using them again.

That's too bad.  Their commercials make them out to be the next best thing ever.

How deeply fortunate my life, my every prayer heard by the angels. I asked for the earth; I received earth, like so much mud in the face. I prayed for relief from suffering; I received suffering. Who can say my prayers were not heard? They were translated, edited—and if certain of the important words were left out or misunderstood, a crucial article deleted, still they were taken in, studied like ancient texts. Perhaps they were ancient texts, re-created in the vernacular of a particular period.

Part of the Ancient Text, a poem from Louise Gluck.
