I didn't know The Swingle Singers stayed active and as prolific for as long as they did. That first iconic album, Bach's Greatest Hits, was issued around 1963. I bought it and wore my first copy of it down as quickly as Mary Poppins and West Side Story and other personal landmarks at that time. I clearly remember its impact. It was a sensation, not to use the word lightly, especially among our high school choral department where we also played that record to death at every chance. Our wonderful director also loved it and she eventually got us the SATB arrangement of the signature "Bouree" which at some point we performed. I might even have phonographic evidence of that.
