Here is the only picture from the paper today....the winners Katie Wallace and her partner Alan Zerkel, the North Putnam High School principal.

They truly deserved to win.

My friend, George, stopped by today to look at my windows.  He thinks I can just take them out and have them reglazed instead of replacing them.  He does restoration of historic buildings.  He also offered to take the windows out for me and take them to his friend who does the reglazing!   I'm thinking that I'll do that with some of them and see how it goes.

I have combination windows on the outside so while the window is out the cats would be safe and the weather would be kept out.

I am with the person who wrote the first comment on the picture - but I didn't write it.

Event didn't end until nearly 11 o'clock....we were lucky to get ONE picture in this morning's paper.

I'm sorry you didn't win, JRand. It's hard to compete with ballroom dancing.

Yesterday was a very sad day for me.  I stopped at the credit union, and as I was pulling out, a kid in an older clunker ran into my brand new car.   I just barely have 4,000 miles on it.

Oh DR TCB you have such bad luck.  I hope the other driver was insured.

I started to red THE RED LEATHER DIARY.  Fascinating.
I also am reading the short stories of Flannery O'Connor. . .what a brilliant writer.
Love O'Connor's work. She had a singular vision and a singular writing style that has often been imitated but never equaled. I wonder how much of her tortured style came from listening to her peafowl scream. It can have its affect.

But it certainly is fun, isn't it?

DR TCB, I had a slight case of whiplash the last time someone ran into my car. A nurse friend told me to go have a chair massage, which really seemed to clear up the pain I had. You might want to ask your doctor first, but that was a big help for me.

Thanks everyone.  No damage to me, and not a major amount of damage to my car (one observer estimated $4,000.00).  The kid ( I have got to stop calling him that) the gentleman in the other wehicle was probably in his late twenties to early thirties.  It is lucky I am not a bartender anymore, because I really can't tell ages.

Anyway, the gentleman has insurance, the insurance was in effect (his policy doesn't end until 4/21/10), but, of course they will have to make sure that he was driving a vehicle that was covered under that insurance.  We both have the same insurance company, but they said they would judge it as if it were two separate companies in determining who was at fault.

Today, I went back and I took a couple of photos of my car at the scene.  And yes, he may have been on the phone at the time.

Yes, DR's - it was the most fun I have had in a long time.

Met some very nice ladies and gentlemen - danced in front of an appreciative crowd - and got to wear my John Travolta suit and hair.

I did also get one of the biggest laughs of the night when Beau the emcee asked me a question about my wig.....and I took a nice beat and asked him:  "What wig?"

And certainly our 26 was a respectable score - for what we did.

Now this is the spot that the guy was trying to pull into without striking the curb (which he didn't strike) and my car is exactly where it was yesterday.

Just finished Mr. BIG's book.  A very brief 160 pages (plus about sixty pages of great photos), he has some lovely stories about his childhood and intro into the business, although one might have wished for more info.  The style of the book is fine, and Bert is a good storyteller, and I've been told that some errors in the text will be corrected.
