IT's the 24th!!!
 TOD:
How did it get here so suddenly?  How will I finish everything by today and tomorrow?  Luckily (of sorts), it's a hard-candy Christmas season, so there isn't as much to do other than be there for other people, but still.....

I'm off to take Sugar for a walk (and my muscles are not inspired to move at the moment), but seeing her is my present!  So I shall stretch the OLD legs and then drive over to see her!

I get to drive my former mother-in-law to an early get-together to maintain some sense of family/continuity.  I have high hopes, high in the sky hopes it wil be nice.

I'll catch up later.   Love, travel and health vibes to all!

I love Mitzi Gaynor, and I like the fact that she always dresses up and knows how to look like somebody!

Dear Esteemed BK:

Will you be regaling your guests at today's do with a retelling of the classic story, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Randy Vicar?

I do hope so.  Classic is classic, after all.

Workies.

A nice long day of cashiering, to be followed by breakfast and preparing for tomorrow's festivities with der B's clan.

It is nearly 40 degrees today with a lot of rain.  So no chance of being like DR GEORGE and getting stuck at the DQ!

DR DtM - I enjoyed the pictures of Christmasvillage Town....but I really liked the train ride!  What fun.  Thanks so much!  I almost needed my Dramamine!

My question for ASK BK day.....which films do you think most accurately captured the fashion of the day?

I don't think we can include a film like FUNNY FACE - while it was a perfect picture of 1957 couture - it's subject was fashion - so I mean a film where the clothes were not the focus, but did show us how people dressed at that time the film was made....so no period pictures, please.

As for CIMMARRON....

Well I liked Mr Glen Ford and Ms Maria Schell.  And the land rush was pretty terrific....and horrific.....

But I don't like Arthur O'Connell or Mercedes McCambridge - so their characters were completely superfluous for me....and irritating.  I thought Ms Aline MacMahon was great as were Harry Morgan and Russ Tamblyn.  And the music was great.

Anne Baxter was pretty much wasted and looked ridiculous in those jeans and a corset to give her that TINY waist....and all that hair.

I pretty much agree with you.

I like Anthony Mann's westerns, but this was one of his weakest.

I wish WHV would release Mann's DEVIL'S DOORWAY w/Robert Taylor onto DVD.

That one is a gem.

I guess the Devil's Doorway was what Anne Baxter played in CIMMARRON!

That was an interesting article about the Gondas, DR SINGDAW.....didn't MR BK have some similar dealings with them?  I think he went to school with the Mrs........
