Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so yesterday with a little today thrown in for good measure, and now it is time for you to post until yesterday's cows come home.

Good morning, all! For those who got all fraught last night about Jill Haworth's death, here is today's NY TIMES obit:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/05/theater/05haworth.html?_r=1

Today in the studio we record coloratura soprano Marnie Breckenridge, who played Cunegonde for the English National Opera two years ago, and Jonathan Michie who is flying up from Florida to record three German lieder and two songs in English, a toast to Pittsburgh's Crucible Club and a patriotic Spanish-American War bit of propaganda.

Wednesday morning greetings!

...

Thank you for posting this, DR Elmore.  CABARET was my first Broadway show when my mother and I visited NYC in the summer of 1967.  We saw the original cast and waited at the stage door afterwards.  Jill's is the only one of the 5 principals whose autograph I don't have on my program book because we didn't recognize her (short black hair onstage, long blond off) until she was halfway down the block and turned around and shouted "G'night, Loves!" in her raspy Sally Bowles voice.

Having seen her performance, it took me a long time to warm up to Liza's take on the role...

It was always strange to me to learn over the years that Jill Haworth's performance in CABARET was critically damned by many.  On the OCR I thought she was perfect.

Whew......my parents wanted a television set for the living room to watch DVD's on - no cable - so I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours setting it up.....I also bought them a flat antenna so that they could get OTA digital channels.....had to scan several times to get them all.....and one is still missing....but it is working.

I sort of miss the days of plugging it in and turning it on.

I've been unearthing my desks and it's like an archaeological expedition.  In the notes that I took at a prospect research conference last May, I found one of the think-outside-the-box mental exercises:  "Write down 1 thing you're going to do before Sept. 30 that absolutely terrifies you."  Never in my wildest imaginings would I have written down "Have a heart attack."

Not specifically...they think that it was probably because their father was a tyrant, but because Charlie didn't tell them, they're only guessing.

I'm very annoyed with myself that I did not take my camera with me on my hike this morning.  I could have gotten some great photos of Sherlock.  Thanks to the frozen fog we have been having our world this morning looked like this tree.

Stilts always alert everyone at the pond when there is danger (which they consider people to be). When they see you, they start flying, and they call "Quit, quit, quit!"

It seems like every grocery store and every other type of store that you go into these days, has those "customer cards" that they want you to use.  I think they are basically a scam, becasue what they do is allow the store to chart your likes and dislikes.  I am so sick of them, that I almost turned down the customer "Wellness Card" from RiteAid Pharmacy when they offered it to me  last year.  Well, today I got a letter from RiteAid saying that I had reached "silver" status with my card.  As a result eveything I buy at RiteAid, each and every day for the next year, they will automatically deduct 10% off the price.

Now that is what I call a customer card!

LOL DR DRUXY......Kathleen Hughes seems like a very nice person in the couple of interviews I have seen - and like DRMBARNUM, I also think she is fabulous in CULT OF THE COBRA......I just didn't recognize her in THE GOLDEN BLADE.....but she had some very nice scenes with Rock.

And as I said.....sometime this weekend I will finish THE SPIRAL ROAD.....

ASK BK DAY:

What day is the March Gardenia show?  What is the basis of that show?  Any idea who may be in it besides Alet?

The March show will be called The Sherman Brothers Album - so far we've got Alet, Kelly Sullivan (who just starred in Robin and the Seven Hoods at the Old Globe and who played the female lead in our reading of The Roxy), and Juliana Hansen.  We'll know about guy one on Saturday, but it's looking good and hopefully he'll remain available - and all I can say is people love him and he's dreamy.  Once I know about him, I'll know which way to go with guy two.  And we have a guest star we're approaching, someone who has ties to the Sherman Brothers.  Best of all, Richard Sherman will be there.

You know we are just jealous when you go play with your other friends - we want you to like us best :-* :-* ;)

I used Craig's laptop to make a "quick" post on FB.  He doesn't have a desk in there so using the laptop is physically uncomfortable.  No wonder he keeps complaining his back hurts.

FB said I used the wrong password and sent me email with a code to use to change my password.  Back to my regular computer and then back to Craig's to submit the code so I could make the change.

Ten minutes after I knelled down to use the laptop I was finally on Facebook. ::)

Don't worry about the photos. Some are saved elsewhere. I haven't had the need to retrieve many of them. Most weren't worth saving, anyway.

Watching a motion picture on DVD and then at ten Doug Haverty is coming to pick up some material for an upcoming release and we'll go get something to eat - at about twelve-thirty I had a foot-long Subway turkey sandwich which was one of the most vile things I've ever eaten, thankfully only 580 calories and actually less since I didn't have cheese on it.

I have put together my trip notebook for the anniversary trip Richard and I are taking this month.  Major destinations:  Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; St. Augustine, FL (where there's a clergy meeting Jan. 19-20).  We are driving, so the Weather Channel has become my new best friend.

Thanks, DRs Vixmom and Laura!  We're not leaving until next Tuesday, but I thought it best to organize all the papers and maps that I'd accumulated before the holidays.

AARRGGHH!!  I don't suppose anyone recorded tonight's People's Choice Awards.  I said that I'd record them for my friend Margo, but I forgot and just realized that.  I missed the first hour and 15 minutes...only 45 minutes left.

Dopey me.
