I've been around show business for over twenty years, I've grown up with show business, I've seen people come starry-eyed and I've seen them hope to climb Mt. Everest, which as I call it is the top, and I've seen many of them go into the valley of the dolls.
You've got to climb Mount Everest to reach the valley of the dolls. . .
DRtd, I'll never understand the Whiting-Wrangler marriage (I know more than I should about certain things), but they seem happy and they are both lovely and kind people. I haven't seen Margaret since 1998, when I worked with her for a Frank Loesser concert, but she's a wonderful charming lady.
Obviously, they are quite good for each other, Margaret and Jack. Ms. Janet told me that they are both charming and that Margaret is always stunningly beautiful and a class act all the way. . .perhaps, and not to be declasse, it's like the old Astaire-Rogers maxim in reverse:
She gives him class. . .well, you all know the rest. . . ;D

BK knows just how much feeling I have for VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, thanks in part to our mutual arguments with a certain Joe Caps. . .
I had an interesting day at work yesterday. To begin with, I was asked to stay an extra couple of hours. Someone called in to say she wasn't coming in to work, and the bosses needed to fill in her shift. Good for the bosses that I'm easy.
But the good news was that, because I had an extra couple of hours I got to help a customer who really needed help. She was in her mid-twenties, and distraught. It was her first time using a WIC check, a government assistance for families to make sure that the mother and children are fed properly. This particular young mother was feeling ashamed about having to rely on any kind of welfare, but had been hit with hard times. Fortunately, I've become fairly good at working with WIC checks over the past year, and I believe that WIC is one of the best programs around, as it is very specific as to what foods are to be bought. So I did a little hand-holding, reminding her that she was using the check to help her children, that sort of thing. She left feeling a little more encouraged, I hope.
The next lady in line thanked me for being so nice. It was good to have what I did be noticed, but I would have done it anyways.
And now it's time to dash off to work again.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts on Gypsy. Auditions aren't until September so I still have plenty of time to mull things over.
Back from a really difficult jog, but I stuck it out and completed it, even though I was ready to collapse halfway through. I do think I'll be getting new running shoes this very day.
I just used my Hello Kitty toaster for the first time, and now there is a slight odor of burnt plastic. But the toast tasted fine.
Does it make a little Hello Kitty face on the toast?
If you do go out this afternoon to buy new shoes, be sure to take your old ones with you. -Especially if you're going to buy your shoes from a running store - or at least a good store with a good, knowledgeable staff. The wear patterns on the soles of your old shoes should help you find your next pair.
Good for the bosses that I'm easy.
Don't go there, TCB :-X
The word of the day reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "Nature abhors a vacuum, and so does my cleaning lady."
My favorite quote (about cleaning) is: "My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance."

Yes...Peter Parker actually removes his mask and reveals his identity to the public (although I still believe he's not letting us know EVERYthing).
Cool! I had no idea where the quote came from.
The imdb - what a place. Only there would I Was A Fugitive From A Chain Gang and M be considered films noir.
Good Afternoon!
Former roomie/former cast member of Hairspray in Las Vegas and u/s for our very own Kevin Spirtas/former castmate of DR Ben's ever-loving' Ant/and newlywed, Nick, will be dropping by shortly to take stock of what he still has here, and also just to drop by for a nice visit.
And that's about all for now.

Would you ask him to take off his shirt and pose for a photo for his fans?

…Jason Tree, 27, and David Connors, 28, are indeed getting married. On June 30. To each other. In Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Their nuptials will constitute the first ever same-sex marriage in RCMP history. And yes, the two constables say they have heard the phrase "Brokeback Mounties" several times since they announced their intentions.
And they don't seem to mind the various headlines that read "Mounties get their men - each other."
"ROSE-MARIE" will never be the same again!

Watched VD last night
Good afternoon/evening all! Lord, am I tired for some reason. I think it won't be long after I hit the front door that I shall be going in to lay down.
Sorry that I didn't get the chance to post yesterday. I received a few emails that I was trying to answer. By the time I made it to the board, there was no way I could catch up on all the posts and post myself.
I did my best to scan as many as I could but I'm sure I missed a lot.
HI DR TCB, I've missed you! I do hope that you are healing and that you are well.
I hope those of you in the New York area enjoyed what was left of our little storm, Alberto. :) I heard he left his calling card on the city this morning.
I have been OFF the internet since 10 pm last night, thank you COMC-ASS-T.
I am convinced this is the coolest kids album cover I have ever seen...I want to own it and frame and display it on a wall someplace!

I watched the 4400 season opener last night. I thought it was only an hour but it was two.
I won't say anything in case others haven't seen it yet that want to but it was a shocker.
I am at this very moment I am downloading this record album for my musical enjoyment!

Did I catch it right that Cillaliz got herself a new kitty?
How long were we down - absolutely infuriating. I wrote our host immediately, but either they were having a huge prob or they weren't there. Hopefully, we'll be fine, but these people never ever tell you what was wrong.
WINDFALL tonight advanced the stories in ways that I didn't much care for. I'll probably watch again next week, but unless I like where at least SOME of the stories are going, I'll be checking out of this one after next week. Only the Luke Perry storyline is hooking me at this point.
Enjoy the Cheesecake Factory, George. It is yummy!!
