TAR was okay.....but would rather the non elimination round had been this week rather than last week.  And if this is a spoiler for anyone - when was the LAST TIME there were TWO elimination rounds in a row.

I think instead of always obsessing about getting off each page, we should relish each page we're on.

And by that, I of course mean applying relish to your computer monitors.

In the insanely small world department:  I just recently heard from a fantastic vocalist who did a bunch of sessions for me years ago, one of which won me the Jazziz Magazine Award.  She lives in Austin (in fact I think I've recommended that Druxy go hear her), and it turns out she is now married to Robert Rodriguez' main orchestrator.  Robert Rodriguez of course filmed BK's and David Wechter's THE FACULTY, though this gentleman did not orchestrate that film.

I'm DVRing Mad Men so I can skip through the commercials.  Singers have picked up their music and I think I'll go do a quick jog.

There seem to be a lot of commercials during MAD MEN - long breaks.

I had a great book signing today, the best I've ever had in a bookstore.

 :)

Among the attendees were Diane McBain, Bridget Hanley, June Wilkinson, Gigi Perreau (who I haven't seen in 40 years), plus Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Levy (he's Spielberg's personal publicist) and several others.

Catching a 10 am flight back to Austin tomorrow.

For my sister's birthday last month, my gift to her was a day of handymanning (without me complaining about it ;)).  Today was the day that she chose.  I went over there at about 10:30 and we took down a wire shelf, moved a set of shelves to where the wire shelf was, moved another set of shelves, we went to The Home Depot and my sister bought some new toilet seats (finally!), I installed the new toilet seats (very easy), and then I put up a hanging ironing board that my sister had gotten several years ago.  That all took about five hours.

Good Evening!

After doing two loads of laundry earlier, I went ahead and headed up to Ft. Tryon Park for the 75th Anniversary Party of Ft. Tryon Park.  Apparently, they had jousting(!) earlier, but when I got there, there was a great little bossa nova band playing.  And then to round out the festivities they had the Calexico Cart (Mexican food) and the Souvlaki Truck (Greek food), serving the masses.  -And, apparently, there was a lot of "mass". The Souvlaki Truck actually ended up selling out. In fact, they did the same amount of business in four hours today that they usually do in eight when they're down in their regular spot in Chelsea. At least I got some of their yummilicious Greek Fries.

And while I was doing two more loads of laundry, I watched "The Amazing Race", "Undercover Boss" and the season finale of "Mad Men".  All in all, not a bad night of TV viewing.

After that, I went to my parents' house for some dinner.  I then came home and tried to get on-line, but I've been having problems.  I tried powering down my modem and turning it back on, but that didn't help.  I called Comcast customer service and the guy said to try powering down the modem and turning it back on.  Again, it didn't help.  He did some tests and found that the problem is with my modem.  It's an older model and I should get a new one.  Right after we hung up, I tried again and was able to get back on-line. :)

Back from a nice lunch with dear reader Jeanne - first time eating Indian food since the bad business back in 1972.  I played it safe and had tandoori chicken tikka - after a little salt it was very tasty.  I tasted Jeanne's curry, which was not to my liking.  But, even though I'm full, it was really only a chicken breast, onions, and some kind of Indian pita-like bread.

Next time: Lamb Vindaloo!

Am enjoying most of "South Pacific" despite its flaws, which I could go on and on about and yet somehow they don't seem to matter. Danny Burstein may be the best performer in the show. The Lt. Cable is good wrong for the part. Too much swagger, too little that is ingratiating. So "Younger Than Springtime" doesn't sound right coming from him.

It's too bad that they couldn't have brought back all of the original cast for the broadcast - including the ensemble members.  There really was something very special about the original company.  -And, yes, the Lt. Cable... Well... 'Nuff said.

I, too, had some quibbles with the production. Alas, I also think it was not videotaped to it's best advantage, but I'm not sure a constant wide shot of that very wide stage would have been ideal either.

*And, yes, Danny Burstein should have won the Tony that year for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Although, I was happy for Boyd Gaines even though I preferred his "Herbie" at City Center over the one at the St. James.

Yes, BK did indeed eat an Indian meal--and certainly appeared to enjoy it. And the restaurant wasn't crowded; in fact, it was virtually empty. I hope Bruce finds a few Indian dishes he likes well enough to enjoy again. We had a nice talk, too. He's looking well.

DR Jeanne - And which curry did you have? -That bk did not seem to take a liking to.
