TOD: Last book I read.

Last night I finished a book which I loved called THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins.

It's a trilogy. I have the 2nd book and the 3rd book comes out later this month.

It's not necessarily a book I would have gravitated towards. But I had seen a few people recommend it. ANd when i went to amazon.com it had 800/1100 5 stars. And 200 more with 4 stars (that is a pretty high rating).

And everybody there was raving about it.  The story is about a teenage girl age 16 ( and it is a young adult book). But it has some violence, so it definitely isn't for anyone too young.

I just loved this book.

I have a bunch more books to read including:

Last Night At Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada), the first 3 FBI Profiler books by Lisa Gardner.

And now I'm starting Catching Fire (book 2) by Suzanne Collins.

The last books I read (I read several at a time) were:

ALMOST A GENTLEMAN, an autobiography by playwright John Osborne, which I liked immensely.

AT THE ROYAL COURT, a look at the first 25 years of the English Stage Company and their work by many of the participants...playwrights, directors, actors, others...very good, with lots of great photos...

BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE, a play by Martin McDonagh, not as good a play as his PILLOWMAN, but well worth the read, with the usual dark funny touches he's known for.

EXIT PURSUED BY A BADGER by Nick Asbury, which is the compiled blog of an actor during the RSC mammoth undertaking of staging all the histories of Richard II, Henry IV, parts one & two, Henry V, all three parts of Henry VI, and ending with Richard III.  This I'm currently reading and so far, so good.

TOD:
From my previous posts, I believe that I stated I was reading the "Kritzerland" trilogy. I really enjoyed the books and I loved the humor contained within them. I am now reading "There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You." I am currently reading about the year 1975 and "The First Nudie Musical."

Morning, all!

Happy B-day, Vixmom!

TOD: Born to Kvetch, by Michael Wex, which I'm now re-reading with notepad in hand. Between the corny humor, the linguistic minutia, and the whiplash transitions from scholarly to silly, I'm loving every page, but I'm still amazed that there's more than five people out there who could read this thing, let alone make it a best-seller...

No need to smack my primary care physician - I think he was as stunned as I was.

As for what I thought of it, that's all on Amazon. :-)

Very light orders for Billy Barnes' L.A. - I knew they'd be light, but not quite THIS light.  So, this will obviously not ever sell out and I've just cancelled plans for two other CDs involving revues (not LA revues - NY revues - classics from the 50s) - I did this one for Billy, but I'm not ever going to take a chance on something like this again -

I've met bk's friend Marshall Harvey several times. My good friend and former assistant editor Jim was his assistant on quite a few films and I would usually drop by their cutting rooms when I was working in LA.

In said book, I also enjoyed reading about a certain editor's "cursed" house, but sorry that bk inherited it.

Currently I'm reading Doc Pomus's bio, "Lonely Avenue" and another book which is the basis for another project I hope to work on. I'm also one of those people who has several books going at the same time, and can give them up without finishing without a pang of guilt!

Good morning, bk. I sent your tapes back to you a few days ago, and today I sent what I'd cut of your benefit before realizing it had already been done. I'm also sending a score to a film I cut a few years back, in case it might be something you'd consider releasing. It would definitely have an audience, although not your usual one!

Just completed my first basement walk - it's a smoother course than the dining room/kitchen table gauntlet.

Well, yes, DR Elmore, now that you mention it, the past couple of weeks have been somewhat Kafka-esque!

Hmm...DR TCB, I seem to be having the same issue that you were having yesterday, in which after you post I am taken back to the top of the HHW page. Maybe it is an AOL browser issue.
