And now - Dino at the piano.

After Dino's interlude, I shall return from my meal.

The sushi dinner was wonderful.  We had seven different kinds of maki, along with a seaweed salad and miso soup.  Der B did fairly well with his cheater chopsticks, and I think enjoyed the meal as much as I did.

We did get some photos, which I hope he'll be posting later.

Earlier today, I had a great time at work.  Things were fairly slow, and I had no customers-from-hell to deal with.

After work, der B drove us inland to the home of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who needs a new family.  Her main human is wheelchair bound, and has no way of chasing after her when she gets out on her own.  She loves to romp around, catching as many interesting sniffs as she can, but it seems the neighbors are terrified of her, and her human has decided it's in her best interests to find a new home for her.

Hopefully, the pics der B took will help them in their quest.

There is no truth to the rumor that cheater chopsticks were invented by Jose.

He's to blame for the originals, instead.

Well it's looking more and more like I will be going to New York for the October get together!  I have booked a room, but have to check out a couple more things at work before I get the plane tickets.

I, too, think of DR Sandra when I drink Cherry Coke. Then I start thinking about chocolate chip cookies. Coincidence? I think not!

Are you hinting?

I now have a stack of books required for next semester. Those that aren't boring are probably dirty. Just like the Communist/smut/Communist smut ordeal a couple semesters ago. Bleh!

I also "get" to take a class from Dr. C. of what I call The Boring Dr. C. Show. He can talk for an hour and never actually say anything. The only interesting thing about him is that he sounds almost exactly like Guy Haines. I've never heard him sing, though.

She is 5 years old - well past the training stage. And, surprise, they are called Assistance Dogs!

The "Assistance" the gentlemen needs is chasing after the dog!

Hmmmm,,,, THE BIOGRAPH GIRL. Not sure I would have much interest in reading about, was it Florence Lawrence, at any rate her, even if the writing was well done.

Seems like I remember reading lots of good reviews for it, however. Was it his first biography?

Had a friend stop by for a dink after work tonight, so I didn't get to DVD watching until later than I wanted. Finished up THE MARY TYLER MOORE special features including the trivia quiz (got all 11 questions correct) and read the MAD Magazine parody of the show which I had never seen before - THE MARY TAILOR-MADE SHOW. Certainly was funny with the names for some of the characters: Mr. Grant was Mr. Grunt; Rhoda was Rodent; Ted was Klod. Very funny.

After I finished with MARY, I put in SONG OF THE THIN MAN. It does indeed look very good with only a few speckles and a couple of places where I noticed some quick print damage. Still, the contrast was as stark as I remembered, and it looked sharp and wonderful. Sound was good, too. I need to research who sang for Gloria Grahame in the film.

And surprise of surprises, DR JRand, who played Mrs. Thayer but BESS FLOWERS!!! I'll bet you I've seen this movie at least a dozen times in my life, and I had NEVER noticed it was she playing that part until seeing her name in the credits.

I then flipped over the CSI: NY for some more modern day mystery. One of the murdered victims was killed by frozen airplane crap accidentally dropped from a plane before landing at LaGuardia. That was the first time I had ever heard of THAT as a murder weapon.

The lack of fundage is a disappointment to us all - believe me.

PBS is currently showing a wonderful biography of Richard Rodgers. Quite exciting...and they're showing parts of "Small House of Uncle Thomas," which is my very favorite of all his dance pieces.

And DR Jose's friend Baayork Lee is currently on-screen.

This is a very good edition of the American Masters series though it ends somberly.  Rodgers' life wasn't a happy one in his final years.

On the TOD, favorite title songs are Oklahoma, Sunday in the Park with George, Hello, Dolly, and Rags.  I'm also a fan off Big Doll House as a second act opener.
