Well, you've read the notes, you've had deja vu because who could have imagined I've already used Mellow Yellow as the title of the notes (hence the II - if movies can do sequels, so can we), and now it is time for you to post until the mellow yellow cows come home.

And the word of the day is: EMPTOR!

Emptor? As in caveat emptor? Which means "buyer beware." :)

I just finished watching the 2-hour series premier of "Fringe." It was interesting, but it's too late now to watch last night's second episode. I don't know if I like it, yet. I'll have to watch a few more episodes.

The second volume of Murray Gold's Doctor Who soundtrack, covering Series Three (and a bit more) is out, and it is great!
How many other series have had a full orchestra to play the music, huh? Wow! And, to quote the Doctor himself, "Fantastic!"
Thanks for the info, Woody! I'll definitely check it out! :D

Even though Second Stage is buying the Helen Hayes (if they change the name I will scream) my friend says it won't happen for quite a while, long enough for them to use the theatre for his production.
Wow, from Fuller Childrens Theatre to Broadway. Whoda thunk it.

I could hear BK singing "Good times, any time you get a payment" (almost a Good Times theme song reference)

Good morning, all! I need to head out for my walk ASAP so this will be brief.
Today, more work on THE STUDENT PRINCE medley; I'd like to finish the sketch and fax it tomorrow morning for the singer to check.
My estimated income tax to NY State cleared this morning so I guess that means the IRS one will land this week as well. Hopefully, my brothers and I should be seeing payment soon frm the sale of the strip of land in front of my dad's house. I want to give some of the money to my niece for nursing school, and the 4-6 weeks transaction should be just about due.
Time for a walk.

Well, BK, I know the Karen Morrow event (and i really love her) is coming up on the 27th (too soon for me to be there). What are the dates and locations of your other various projects (that is, beyond a few weeks from now)? When and where is the Bacharach benefit? I know I could look it up in previous notes, but it's easier to ask you. Now that there is progress with my foot) no money anymore, but I can walk, the idea of possibly rejoining the world is becoming more of a reality.
As far as Donovan songs go, I still like "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" and "Jennifer Juniper." I liked the bigger hits when i first heard them, but that was typical Top 40 radio stuff, and I got sick of the other songs (which I won't mention so they don't get into my head) because they were played constantly. I guess it's still like that which is why I play BK CD's in my car.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm eating cereal. Exciting, huh?

Wednesday morning greetings! Still no power at home, but today was less stressful than yesterday because there were fewer unknowns about my trip to work. My noontime meeting for today was cancelled, so I have a day to putter in my cube. Wonder if I should start clearing out files and such in preparation for retirement?
-
For Ask BK Day...
Since you "commented" on Xanadu's closing last night...
Would you be "a David Merrick" if one on your shows - a show that you had written - opened on Broadway to some decent to positive reviews, and close it after a week? Basing your decision on the amount of the advance sales, the "buzz", etc.?
*Producing - and the Broadway Theatre - is a totally different business and "game" from David Merrick's days. Yes, Xanadu may be closing at "a total loss", but that should not discount the weeks and months of employment that the show provided to a talented company of actors, musicians, technicians and house staff. I mean, it's not like off-Broadway shows - or even off-off-off-Broadway shows - can recoup their initial investment - even if the show got great reviews and had sold out houses. Yes, that's sort of apples and oranges, but I think that's getting my point across.
-
Several of us just pitched in and sent one of our co-workers to the nearby Boston Stoker (http://www.bostonstoker.com) for a box o' coffee. My one cup from McDonald's clearly was not enough.

Kind of, DR Jose, but December 19 (my proposed last day here) will be here before we know it. I think I should take advantage of these "down" days so I don't have to clear out frantically at the last minute.
In any case...
Do you have any further idea of when your power will be restored? And do you have to have your lunch out of the vending machines again today?

DR Matt H, I think you picked a good time to drop HOUSE from your shows to watch. We were very disappointed last night, and kept making groaning "stupid", "too obnoxious". The last quarter of the show was better.
-
EUREKA, which we watched before HOUSE was fun. During the show we were watching a lightning storm through our windows, just to the side of the tv.
POSSIBLE SPOILER:
What a fantastic combination, the bright exploding sun on the tv, & huge bursts of lighting in our sky.

It was a very interesting walk. I had forgotten to mention last night that they were clearing the street in front of my apartment to film something today. S, when I went out this morning, I learned it was a LAW & ORDER episode, and they must be shooting all over the Upper West Side today: there were trailers on Broadway between 82nd and 80th Streets. There were grips and a lot of extras, some in t-shirts saying something like "moondog motorcycles." And there were a lot of bicycles parked in front of the rectory for Holy Trinity Church, which is directly across the street from me.
So I walked down to 72nd, and in front of the subway station I discovered two lesbians making out frantically as if they were about to begin further intimate activities immediately. On my way back uptown, I passed a gay coupe, one of whom was wearing long ornate earrings and appeared to be in semi-drag. I stopped in Fairway and bought myself some watercress and mushrooms and got back to the apartment to see a bit of the shoot at the church: I believe it's a funeral and people in black were filing out of the church. That was it. I didn't want to be in the way.
-
Good morning!
Still overcast with rain threatening; don't know if we'll get any or not. But the cool temps remain, and that's all I care about. Miraculously, with the rain we've gotten this month, we've entire erased the 4+ inches below normal defecit for the year and are now an inch above normal for the year. (Of course, we're still in drought conditions; we were 12 inches below normal in 2007.)
-
DR Matt H, I think you picked a good time to drop HOUSE from your shows to watch. We were very disappointed last night, and kept making groaning "stupid", "too obnoxious". The last quarter of the show was better.
I have been reading spoilers for the upcoming episodes of the season (though about the first third of the season), and I hadn't liked what I was reading, so I figured this was as good as place as any to stop.
Of course, I can always revisit these episodes since HOUSE seems to be one of the few shows Fox will rerun during the season.
I have to say, when I went to watch FRINGE off the DVR last night, HOUSE had spilled over for a minute or so, so I saw it and the previews, and I thought to myself that I was glad not to be embroiled in all of this angst right now.
-
I'll be starting on WILL & GRACE 8 today. Half hour shows are always much quicker to get through than hour drama series, so I'm hoping to get deep within the final season by the end of the evening today. (I will take time to watch BONES on the DVR so I can speed through commercials.)

I'll be watching last night's THE SHIELD as I cook and eat lunch. That will catch me up with DVR TV shows. Sunday's MAD MEN is in the HD On Demand section, but I'm not sure I will get to it until the weekend. We'll see how fast I can fly through WILL & GRACE.

No, I do not buy the game that color and clarity is better on a DVD than film in a theater - for any film ever. I love the IB Tech three-strip Singin' In The Rain - I had many IB prints of the film and they were astonishingly beautiful - the DVD does not replicate the three-strip color at all - it's sharp and clean, yes, but brown - oh, that's right, it's Warners, the studio that refuses to look at their Technicolor reference prints because they're just too smart. Right.

That would be Mr. Van Williams and Ms. Diane McBain, both are stars of the tv show SURFSIDE 6.

After Karen, the next LACCTAA event is on October 11th - a panel of LACC theater grads who've managed to stay in the business since leaving the school. Good folks on the panel. Prior to that, on October 4th is my book signing/reading for Murder At The Grove at Mystery and Imagination is Glendale. The Kevin and Sean show and taping is October 27. And the Bacharach thing is December 1 in NY at New World Stages.

I was just poking around the internet(s) and it seems that perhaps the film had a 2007 release, so perhaps the Oscar train has already passed it by. Do MattH or Edi know if it got a U.S. release in 2007?

I know that you are trying to make me seem like a heartless old poop for commenting, but be that as it may...
I wouldn't be a David Merrick because I wouldn't be the producer of something I wrote. So, if the producer of a show I wrote decided to close it because it really was taking a bath, I would completely understand - I'd have to. Again, you're personalizing this to make it seem like I personally am discounting the employment of actors and crew and the enjoyment of audiences. By your reasoning, every box-office flop musical that brought enjoyment and kept actors employed should run for over a year, but you know and I know that's not how it works. Side Show had its screaming, drooling fans who thought that show was the second coming - nobody came was the problem, but some of the people who showed up loved it. But reality is reality. And believe me, I know producing today isn't like producing in the time of David Merrick - Merrick was a real producer - these other guys have so much ego and there are so many of them and they'd rather die than have it look like they had a show that wasn't drawing, despite good reviews. The best example of this, and why they are no longer producing shows is the Dodgers - keeping Once Upon A Mattress open for over four months, despite TERRIBLE reviews, no business and no hope of an afterlife on tour. THAT'S producing. Not.
Whatever one thought of Xanadu (and I liked it fine), for almost half its run it lost money, and the times when it met its weekly nut or made above it, it did not make much, certainly not enough to pay back its investors. Will the tour bring in more money? Maybe - it really depends how a campy very inside show will play across the country, which may not be loaded with people who are smart enough to know that the show is making fun of a bad film they didn't see. The capitalization of Xanadu may have been reasonable for Broadway (I've heard five mil), but I guarantee you in those first four months where they were really struggling the investors had to have been called on to put more money in to keep it going.
I have no stake in the show at all - but to turn a blind eye to the reality of it, well, why? I'm sure Whoop-Up brought enjoyment to some of the people who saw it - every flop does. Carrie has its rabid fans. And we can name a gazillion others.
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
Looks like I get the sun for the run today. Of course, I thought that yesterday, but as soon as I walked out the door, the entire sky was blanketed by clouds and remained so for the entire duration of the run. They cleared about two hours later.

No, not yet, DR Elmore, but Jo's news is encouraging. Richard tells me that the convenience store 2 blocks from us (at Central & Highview) is back online and he spent the morning at MUM, using the laptop and charging his phone, so it's closing in on us.

I've been kinda bored with it the past three weeks. I'm stunned that Memphis took the "fall guy" role and got no votes. That tells me that Dan totally snowed everyone since Dan manipulated people much more than Memphis could...and included Memphis in his machinations. Still, the right player won. I was not pleased to learn that Jerry came in second to Keesha for "favorite juror" prize money. I voted for Renny and figured it would be between Renny and Keesha. Of all the players in that house, I despise Jerry the most. His questions to Dan -- and the allegation that Dan was "arrogant' -- was worthy of a huge sneer from everyone since Jerry acted more arrogant than anyone since Mike Boogie...and without having anything to be arrogant about.

If the writing was on the wall, yes, I would post a closing notice. Given the Xanadu reviews, I would certainly have kept it open for a month or two to see if they and word of mouth generated business - but with Xanadu, it didn't happen and if it were me, I would have closed it, as would David Merrick, Kermit Bloomgarden, and Feuer and Martin. But I acknowledge it's a completely different world today and I'm must always amazed how shows like, for example, The Life can run for a year and close at a complete loss of the entire investment. Were those investors promised a tour and a great afterlife for the show? Probably. Has that happened? Absolutely not.

Just had a nice conversation with my long ago former agent Bob Gersh. I was trying to see if I could get back in there, but sadly they're not taking any new writing clients because they can't get any work for the clients they DO have. I totally understand that, but I was hoping they'd just sort of take me and then just do what they could. I'm not trying to have someone actively go after writing gigs for me - I'm just trying to sell what I've got - the Brain, Nudie Musical, and the books. So, now I'm trying to figure out where to go next. The person I'd really like to have represent me is a guy named Doug Brodax - great guy, used to represent me in the late 80s. I can't find any trace of him and the talent agents association only has numbers for companies, not individuals, and they don't even list individuals at the companies. If any of our computer whizzes and search whizzes find any info on Doug, let me know.

-
Ironically, Doug was at my 50th birthday breakfast bash at Du-Par's, which was thrown for me by someone I was seeing briefly at that time back in 1997. We had a nice chat, but I wan't writing at all back then, so didn't even think to get his number or anything. As to the person I was briefly seeing, I'm afraid I haven't seen the person since early 1998 and I'm embarrassed to say I don't even remember the name.
-
:) Did you know what plays she is seeing? We only saw one play this season, OUR TOWN, & were disapointed. I had been warned, but it was what our company wanted to see.
Tell her to watch out for us walking around town with Sherlock.
Jeremy Peter Johnson is playing the lead in the Festival's COMEDY OF ERRORS! He played Clay, the studly gardiner, in FOR THE LOVE OF TIFFANY, written by friends of mine, in its Fringe Festival premiere.

DR elmore, does this face look familiar?
(http://www.osfashland.org/_img/about/bios/johnson_jeremy_07.jpg)

I am very, very sleepy today. Sherlock was having major dreams last night and kept kicking me. During one of his attacks on me Keith pulled Sherlock's legs off my face. I'm lucky I didn't get injured. When Sherlock wasn't kicking he was snoring. What a dog.

That's what I said; he's playing the lead in THE COMEDY OF ERRORS in Ashland.

BK, there was a Doug Brodax living in North Hollywood as of 2003. The phone number listed for him at that time now belongs to a Javier Rodriguez.
The only other Doug Brodax I can find listed in the United States is a Doug A. Brodax, and he lives in Ohio (he is around 54 years old).
There is no Doug Brodax listed in the Social Security Death Index, so I guess that is a good sign.
-
BK, it appears that your Doug Brodax did relocate to Ohio. He was a panelist, listed as Doug Brodax - Literary Agent, at the Midwest Film Makers thingy in Ohio a few years back.
He makes his home in Beachwood, Ohio now.

Any way to get an Ohio number on him? And I'll bet that was him in NoHo in 2003. Good job - now go get that number!

My favorite flop musical is probably OVER HERE! though it did at least have a season's run. Lots of shows I loved lost money like SHE LOVES ME and FOLLIES, but those aren't the kinds of flops we're talking about, are they?
I can't think of a quick flop that I actually saw.
-
I watched last night';s THE SHIELD. Excellent, as always, and new complications gearing up now for the show's final run of episodes. I am really going to miss this show.
-
Then, I started on WILL & GRACE. I got 9 episodes watched. I should be able to get at least that many done tonight as well. The season opener had some laughs, and a couple of others were fun (the Christmas episode with Will's gay nephew is delightful, and Grace and Leo hooking up on a plane while Will flirts with two gay flight attendants who he finds out are a couple had some laughs).
But I'm livid that Lionsgate used the 1.33:1 standard version of the show when W&G's final season was filmed in HD and those 1.78:1 HD masters were available to make the show look wider and much sharper than these nonanamorphic 4:3 episodes.
BTW, they used the East Coast version of the first live episode. (Thanks to DR George who sent me the West Coast version and now I know which is which).
-
Among the guest stars: Alec Baldwin, Debbie Reynolds, Blythe Danner, Millicent Martin (a scream as Karen's new Cockey maid), Leslie Jordan, Steven Weber, Stephen Spinella, Richard Chamberlain.

I did scan through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke was there momentarily but not really much a part of the action. Nothing in the previews for tomorrow.

Good Evening!
What another gorgeous early Fall day it was/is here in NYC! After I was done with my auditions today, I ended up walking down Eighth Avenue through Chelsea to the West Village, and then across to 6th Avenue to catch the train back uptown.

...My day doesn't start until Noon tomorrow, so I think I'm going to try to get in an hour or so at MoMA tomorrow morning. The new Van Gogh exhibit opened yesterday for Members Only Preview days, so... :)

So has anyone seen the Obama ad where he says McCain is out of touch in part because he doesn't use the computer. Turns out McCain can't use a keyboard much because of the injuries he sustained while being tortured. Sounds like McCain isn't the one who isn't up on things. What a stupid error.

During my train ride back uptown, there were a couple of people discussing the current situation with Lehman Brothers and AIG. One of the men happens to work in the building across the street from Lehman Brothers main building here in NYC. He owns a deli on the ground floor of that building. He said he's already looking into closing up his store since "half of my breakfast of breakfast business, and almost all of my lunch business is that building across the street. If they close, I close." :-\

Ouch, that one must have been embarrassing.
I hadn't seen the ad. I looked at factcheck.org for more info & found a small statement:
"He can type. But using a keyboard for long periods is uncomfortable for him. He says he's been an "illiterate" on a computer. But he says now he's learning to use the Internet."

Not to get too political, but evidently McCain has never mentioned injuries as being the reason he does not know the computer. His only reason so far is that he is "neanderthal"
"The McCain campaign itself did not take issue with the Obama ad, and spokesmen for the Arizona senator did not return calls seeking comment.
McCain, who has referred to himself as a computer "illiterate," has never cited his war injuries as the reason why he doesn't use e-mail or never learned other computer skills.
For example, when asked by Politico.com earlier this year what type of computer he uses, McCain responded: "I am an illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all the assistance that I can get." In other interviews, he has said he never saw the need to use e-mail because of his staff support.
Earlier, in a March 2006 interview with Fortune magazine, McCain said his work style didn't require computer usage. But he did not cite his injuries.
"I read my e-mails, but I don't write any," McCain said. "I'm a Neanderthal - I don't even type. I do have rudimentary capabilities to call up some websites, like the New York Times online, that sort of stuff. No laptop. No PalmPilot. I prefer my schedule on notecards, which I keep in my jacket pocket."
The new Obama ad, part of a more aggressive strategy that began Friday to portray McCain as representing old ideas, says of the GOP candidate: "He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail, still doesn't understand the economy, and favors two hundred billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class," it says."

Where HAS this day gone? Last I knew it was noon. I've been doing stuff non-stop, including a stop at the Studio City Cafe to finally satisfy my egg craving - I had eggs benedict and fruit - excellent. I also had a little side salad for my greens. Then I picked up a package that had the new three CD set of Shaft from Film Score Monthly - it's brilliant. So much better than the "official" and not real soundtrack CD.
-
I've been working mightily on prepping the LACCTAA newsletter - a lot of work. Plus now trying to cast our act one finale for the Bacharach show - don't tell anyone (a haineshisway.com secret), but it's Turkey Lurkey Time, with the original Bennett choreography and a cast of eighteen.
-
You know how much I love casting long distance, but Adam Cates, who'll be recreating the choreography is sending me pics and resumes - I'm trying to get a dancer with McKechnie's sort of star power - they are very few these days. Any suggestions welcomed.

I saw Swinging On a Star in 1995. I checked IBDB (http://www.ibdb.com/production.php?id=4309) and it only had 96 regular performances. I guess that would qualify as a flop. :-\ Even so, I LOVED the show! ;D

Actually, most of the cast of the movie "Camp" is based out of NYC right now... And since they performed it in the movie... You could also build in a cast reunion of sorts too.

Callie was very skittish when I came home. She was hiding and running at meal time and really didn't want me to give her her medication. I'm going to have to talk to my cat sitter. She's finally calming down and we're getting back to normal, but I'm wondering how she's giving the meds. Callie had been sick so that may be part of it. Luckily I'm not going anywhere for awhile so we should be back to normal around here soon

I've been to Artie's with my friend Chris, whom I never see often enough. He played drums for the NYMF production of THE TRAGIC & HORRIBLE LIFE OF THE SINGING NUN and he always makes me laugh. Now I will chill.

Whatever. I'm not going to argue about it. Biden is a very nice man. I've met him a couple times. I personally prefer Palin. I don't agree on all the issues with her, but she's the first candidate I can say I really relate to. From what I've read she doesn't legislate her personal opinions any more than Biden does.
The scary thing for me is for the first time no matter which ticket wins I'll be older than either the President (Obama) or the Vice President (Palin). I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

Is that a bridge to nowhere loan? ;) Yes I know but I was trying to fit in with the lunch.

Just came back from my niece's birthday dinner. She was announcing to everyone "birthday girl".
The waiter however got on my last nerve. He just wasn't paying attention. And when you'd try to flag him down he was nowhere to be found. I asked him something simple like if he could light the candle. And it took him like 10 minutes. He was doing all kinds of stupid things (cleaning off tables that were not needed by others). And it turns out he had the lighter in his pocket and it would have taken 2 seconds.
My niece was saying, "where's the light?"
I had gone there to make the reservation since i was passing by the other day (to the same guy). ANd i mentioned the birthday thing. But i didn't know we were brining a cake and he didn't mention there was a charge to bring one. Luckily his boss waived the fee since it never occured to me there would be a charge (we were 11 people so it would have added up). This is not a fancy place who is trying to act like a fancy place.
I had ravioli with rosee sauce (which was on their menu online but not at the restaurant). although apparently they serve it. Then why not put it on the menu? :) I had really been looking forward to it for days.

It always bothered me when server's didn't take a few extra minutes to help make sure the children were taken care of. It isn't easy for young ones to be patient & it usually doesn't take much to make them happy, at least not with good children who know how to behave. Fortunately I found on the whole servers understood this.

That's silly - I hope the President of the US would not waste his time using the internet or fussing with EMail - that is what staff are for. Those of us in our Golden Years spent the major part of our professional lives without EMail or the Internet (unless you count "developing" it).

You should have asked - many "nice" restaurants charge a service fee for allowing customers to provide their own cake. (This fee helps defray the adding cost of washing cake plates and forks and the loss of income incurred by the birthday party lingering at the dinner table.)

Yes, it was. We exchanged both the premiere episode and the other live episode done in January of 2006 that takes place in Karen's bathroom. A slapstick riot, I thought. The West Coast version was filled with screw-ups, and it's the East Coast version they used on the DVD for that episode, too.

It never did rain today. It stayed fairly cool, but no rain. As long as the nights stay cool (and they're supposed to), I won't complain about the warmth of the days.
-
I watched nine more WILL & GRACE episodes. There are twenty-three in all so that leaves me with five more to watch.
-
Next I watched BONES. Best episode of the season thus far. We see pictures of dog fighting but no actual dog fighting in the episode. And the business with the dog whisperer was very moving. Mystery was OK. And for the first time, I really enjoyed Dr. Sweets being a part of the team.

I finished the evening watching tonight's PROJECT RUNWAY. The winner really deserved to win, and I was delighted with the selection. The design was BY FAR the best. The right person went home, too, more due to the sloppiness of the construction of the clothes. This is the second or third outfit that had crap sewing. The one who finished next to last at least had a professional looking garment.
I didn't like ANY of the jackets made, not even on the winning design.

Page Nine Lollipop Guild Dance!!!

Agreed!
*And "Top Design" was more or less a no-brainer tonight too.

Well, I guess my schedule this week is temporarily turning me into a Wussburger...
Goodnight.
-
I'm going to tinker with the writing a little bit and then head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
It's been an exhausting day.
-
I've had to do all the dog walking today, since Skip isn't feeling too well.
-
Taking a short intermission from the movie - after I'm done with the movie, I'll listen to CDs.
-
~~~~~FEEL BETTER VIBES TO SKIP~~~~~
-
It doesn't bother me. It is just a technical thing & doesn't mean he isn't well informed.
I agree.
-
I love mine, too, but I wouldn't sit through RENT again.
;D
Feel better vibes to Skip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OH!
Shannon O'Bryan
*She was my Sheila in ACL in Houston. She was, as Seth Rudetsky would say, "a-MAH-zing!".
I knew there was something Irish about her!
I'm back from seeing Chicago. It was ok. One thing they do need to do is update the bios for Kander and Ebb. It says "Upcoming:...Steel Pier, with Scott Ellis, Susan Stroman and David Thompson" Hello, that was 1997 and nothing more recent than that (as in Curtains).
-
The sound wasn't good. Other than than, I had a hard time with Billy Flynn looking like he wasn't old enough to be out of college, let alone a lawyer. Ben Elledge as Amos Hart got the most applause both during the show and at the end.
It was OK. It was sold out or nearly sold out, so business wise the theater did well. I just wish some of these non-equity shows were better.
-
Are you still walking?
I didn't yesterday or today (I had errands to run during lunch time), but I plan to tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. :)
-
Anyone else remember Theresa Renteria from the Carol Burnett Show?
OMG!! I do!! And Lavicka Trickleson, too!!! ;D
-
Listening to Peggy Lee, then on to something else nice.
-
I'm sort of hungry. I didn't really eat anything else after lunch, except for a piece of toast, two bags of 100 calorie graham cracker cookies and a couple of pieces of licorice. I just never had the desire to go out and get something to eat. However, tomorrow I'm lunching at Stanley's, so WATCH OUT!
-
George - Thank you so much. :) :) :) (I actually teared up a little at your thoughtfulness. I had thought about asking you to do that, but thought that would seem silly.)
Things like that are never silly! And if they are...who the heck cares??
;)
Bonnie Hunt reads HHW!! (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ;)) Anyway, on today's episode, she entered at the top of the show and as soon as she sat down, she talked to her music director:
Bonnie: You should introduce Ian because he's sitting in for Reggie, this week, right? This whole week?
MD: Yes, Reggie is in Europe, flogging a new bass that has his name on it, so he couldn't be with us for a week.
Bonnie: Wow! That's a euphemism, isn't it?
;D
I feel like I'm outside my body observing the goings-on in the U.S. financial communities.
Everything boils down to one thing: Housing.
Pundits believe that prices are plummeting too quickly and that's the cause.
I believe the prices were artificially driven up (who the hell can afford a $300,000 house with an annual income of $45,000???)
I well remember brokers invading my condo building ten years ago and trying to get everyone to sell, sell, sell because "we" could make a bucket of money (meaning"they" would do well, too!!) I went to a few "open houses" in this building and each time there was someone on hand approving ON THE SPOT the loan for anyone interested in buying. Each and every one of those sales defaulted, naturally.
I thought then that it was insane.
Turns out I was correct.
