Well, you've read the notes, you've had deja vu because who could have imagined I've already used Mellow Yellow as the title of the notes (hence the II - if movies can do sequels, so can we), and now it is time for you to post until the mellow yellow cows come home.

Emptor?  As in caveat emptor?  Which means "buyer beware." :)

I just finished watching the 2-hour series premier of "Fringe."  It was interesting, but it's too late now to watch last night's second episode.  I don't know if I like it, yet.  I'll have to watch a few more episodes.

ASK BK

A restored American In Paris is being released (or has been released), so what are your favorite 3 Strip technicolor movies? Also do you buy the claim that the color & Clarity is better than it was released to the theaters? (Many of us don't remember the original releases or the reissues)

HEY, GEORGE!!!

The second volume of Murray Gold's Doctor Who soundtrack, covering Series Three (and a bit more) is out, and it is great!

How many other series have had a full orchestra to play the music, huh?  Wow!  And, to quote the Doctor himself, "Fantastic!"

Thanks for the info, Woody!  I'll definitely check it out! :D

Now that Xanadu is closing, if all goes well I may have a friend putting a show in there!

Even though Second Stage is buying the Helen Hayes (if they change the name I will scream) my friend says it won't happen for quite a while, long enough for them to use the theatre for his production.

Wow, from Fuller Childrens Theatre to Broadway. Whoda thunk it.

I could hear BK singing "Good times, any time you get a payment" (almost a Good Times theme song reference)

Good Times
any time you meet a payment
good times
any time you feel free
good times
any time you're out from under

Not getting hassled, not getting hustled
keeping' your head above water,
making a wave when you can

Temporary lay offs
good times
easy credit rip offs
good times
scratching' and surviving
good times
hanging in a chow line
good times
ain't we lucky we got 'em
good times

Good morning, all! I need to head out for my walk ASAP so this will be brief.

Today, more work on THE STUDENT PRINCE medley; I'd like to finish the sketch and fax it tomorrow morning for the singer to check.

My estimated income tax to NY State cleared this morning so I guess that means the IRS one will land this week as well.  Hopefully, my brothers and I should be seeing payment soon frm the sale of the strip of land in front of my dad's house. I want to give some of the money to my niece for nursing school, and the 4-6 weeks transaction should be just about due.

Time for a walk.

Well, BK, I know the Karen Morrow event (and i really love her) is coming up on the 27th (too soon for me to be there).  What are the dates and locations of your other various projects (that is, beyond a few weeks from now)?  When and where is the Bacharach benefit?  I know I could look it up in previous notes, but it's easier to ask you.  Now that there is progress with my foot) no money anymore, but I can walk, the idea of possibly rejoining the world is becoming more of a reality.

As far as Donovan songs go, I still like "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" and "Jennifer Juniper."  I liked the bigger hits when i first heard them, but that was typical Top 40 radio stuff, and I got sick of the other songs (which I won't mention so they don't get into my head) because they were played constantly.  I guess it's still like that which is why I play BK CD's in my car.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Still no power at home, but today was less stressful than yesterday because there were fewer unknowns about my trip to work.  My noontime meeting for today was cancelled, so I have a day to putter in my cube.  Wonder if I should start clearing out files and such in preparation for retirement?

For Ask BK Day...

Since you "commented" on Xanadu's closing last night...

Would you be "a David Merrick" if one on your shows - a show that you had written - opened on Broadway to some decent to positive reviews, and close it after a week?   Basing your decision on the amount of the advance sales, the "buzz", etc.?

*Producing - and the Broadway Theatre - is a totally different business and "game" from David Merrick's days.  Yes, Xanadu may be closing at "a total loss", but that should not discount the weeks and months of employment that the show provided to a talented company of actors, musicians, technicians and house staff.  I mean, it's not like off-Broadway shows - or even off-off-off-Broadway shows - can recoup their initial investment - even if the show got great reviews and had sold out houses.   Yes, that's sort of apples and oranges, but I think that's getting my point across.

Several of us just pitched in and sent one of our co-workers to the nearby Boston Stoker for a box o' coffee.  My one cup from McDonald's clearly was not enough.

Hmm... Sounds like you're already experiencing that whole last-year-in-high-school syndrome: Senior Slump.  ;)

In any case...

Do you have any further idea of when your power will be restored?  And do you have to have your lunch out of the vending machines again today?
