Of course there was a proper pot of hot tea

Made with loose leaf tea?
We usually just use PGTips tea bags which we order from England

I got word while ushering the river lighting parade.

Is that on the Riverwalk?

Yes. This year had a music theme. Billy Giddons from ZZ Top was master of ceremonies. Steve Earle and Flaco Jimenez were on floats. Jimmy Vaughan was playing some holiday blues. Nice.

The power went out 20 minutes ago. The bird hasn’t stopped screaming since.

I am absolutely disgusted at the weather forecasts for Sunday and Monday. They’re not even sure what this area will get, but whatever the type of precip or the mix turns out to be, it couldn’t come at a worse time. It’s our tech week, the cleanup could be difficult depending on what comes down, I’ve got a dental appointment that’s tough to reschedule ... and you name it.

One of the local news said that Olympia got down to 18°F this morning!  It was the lowest in the whole state!  The temperature at the time of the broadcast (about an hour ago) had gotten up to all of 26°.

George, I have found with the cheesecakes that I have made, people say they taste better if they sit for a couple of days before cutting into them. Do you have any leftovers? You could see if there’s any difference.

I've heard that, too.  I do have about a quarter of the cheesecake left, so I can see what it's like after some extra waiting time...not that I really want to wait to eat what's left. ;)

I was watching thoroughly Modern Millie when the power went out. I told a friend in a text it was due to too much Julie Andrews.

DR George I think your cheesecake just needed to set longer.   How much sour cream is used for the topping?  Is there any in the cake aside from the toppjng.

The topping was 1/2 cup sour cream plus 2 tablespoons sugar, and the cheesecake itself has 1/2 cup.

This has been a wild afternoon.  Stella has escaped the apartment three times within the space of 30 minutes and she's facing the Wrath of Daddy.

Yikes!  Hopefully, she has learned her lesson!

We went to Beaches.  I am stuffed.

We found out that a regular customer, Roger, whom we have become friendly with passed away yesterday.  We knew this was going to happen, still it is very sad.  Last week his waitress & good friend/extended family member gave us a card to sign.  She said he appreciated what Keith wrote.

The bar tender stopped by to say hello & was also sad about his passing.  Because the wait staff is encouraged to be personal with the customers you really get to visit with them and to know them better.  This waitress became friends with Roger years ago as he was a customer.  Then she introduced him to other customers she became close with, and then we met them all.  She made many trips to visit Roger while he was too sick to get out.

Jane, my condolences on Roger's passing. :(

I'm feeling it's past time for bed. Watching the Harold Lloyd spoof in Thoroughly Modern Millie is rather depressing. It misses so much of Lloyd's fearlessness for some cheap jokes.

That was a very nice, if sad, story.
