I was having a discussion with a friend this past weekend, and the talk turned to "White Christmas."  I admitted I was fairly excited at the prospect of attending the show in San Francisco after Thanksgiving, and the talk turned to the film.

My favorite moment in the film, for good or ill, is on the train when the four stars sing:

Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh

Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow

Thanks, Ron.  You in particular were there and in your own special way guided me through my graduating from Full Member to Senior Member, and that helped give me the courage and strength to take the next step up.  For that, I thank you.

But I still won't dance.

Don't mock me.

I won't dance!

Don't sock me!

I won't dance!

Madame with you!

My feet don't move quite like they used to!

My first internet experience was with Freewwweb!  You paid $96 for a disk that you downloaded, signed up, and you were ON!!!  Used that for many months then switched to Juneau, another "free" service.  There was one more after that, can't remember the name of it.  Then I broke down and ordered Comcast digital cable, which is what I still use.

Mostly a good deal....except when they were working on the lines and upgrading and there was much downloading, etc., that I had to do.  And the people are NO help to you when you call.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But so far so good.

Oh my gosh the weather has changed.  I cannot believe how hot it is.  Last week was so cool.  And now we have 75-80F++.   Really crazy for October.  And I picked out a special Fall outfit to wear to dinner tomorrow.  But now it looks like it will be really warm.  So I will need to find something different. :(

DR RON you must report on CHOREOGRAPHY and THE BEST THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU DANCE!!!

I wish WHITE CHRISTMAS would show up here sometime.

LES MISERABLES the tour has been cancelled, something about the hurricane disrupting the schedule....and the Broadway Indianapolis season is so lackluster - including Cathy Rigby (again) in Peter Pan and a few other things I am not interested in seeing.

Oh well.  No money anyway.

I started to watch Medium last night, but it seemed pretty ordinary to me....and the plot (no one knows who I am, someone else is living in my house....I am someone else) couldn't take much more than 10 minutes of it or so.

Comment on last night's Medium (general vague talk, no spoilers).

Last night's Medium was very good, but sort of different from past episodes.  I must admit I was quite confused by her dream.

One thing I have noticed though is how abruptly all the shows this season have ended. It's like i'm expecting another 15 minutes of story.  But it just ends.  And it's made even more noticeable with the previews coming on at :50 before the show ends!

Sounds like last night's Medium was not well done--that's rare!

Well all my shows are on tv tonight.  The Amazing Race, Gilmore Girls, and Boston Legal.

ANyone see MEDIUM last night and care to comment? From everything I read about the episode, it's a far more dramatic episode for Patricia Arquette than the one that won her the Emmy last year.

I commented before I read your request.

I guess it's considered dramatic because of what happens in her dreams.

One thing I found interesting (which perhaps you can comment on after you watch the show) is that what she was dreaming was sort of scary (and she was in it). It really confused me. And it was scary thinking that what we were seeing would come true.  But there was a nice twist that was sort of unusual from what we're used to seeing.

Oh Dan, last night's Medium was good.  I just like to see all the end stuff rather just have it described in a line or two.

I just spoke to Vixmom (Deb). They are in Central Park having lunch. They got to visit with Priscilla and Ginny this morning before setting out. Jason. It turns out Jane will be in earlier than planned.

Jason, I'm going up to the Hotel (Comfort Inn on 46th Street between 6th Avenue & Broadway near the Roundabout Off-Broadway Space, across the street from the Muse Hotel and the Original High School for the Performing Arts) at around 4:30. We will discuss dinner plans and keep you posted as to what, when and where.

I resisted computers for as long as I could.  I eventually got my first one in 1988 and got state of the art everything in a desk-top and got a laptop as well.  Of course, it was all outdated about two years later.  But I keep all that...and my DOS system...eschewing Windows until 1997 when I completely updated everything and got on the internet as well.  I still typed scripts up on my DOS system through Hercules, before I decided to switch over to various script programs.  I finally went Broadband last October and am glad I did!

I had a Commodor-64 with an external floppy disk drive. Gosh, that thing seems ancient and clunky now! I only used it to play video games.

Ben: Thanks for the update. Glad to hear DR Jane is getting in earlier than she thought.

I've forgotten an earlier internet experience before Prodigy--dial-in bulletin boards.  These were portals in which you had to navigate by using arcane Unix commands.  There were paths which led to a lot of Star Trek games and a lot of Goth chat rooms.  Information could be found through early search engines such as Gopher, Archie and Veronica.  This is the environment where the real computer geeks thrived, but I found these to be needlessly complicated and gave up on them pretty quickly.

Yes, but because of the Greater Manhattan Tractor Act of Nineteen-Aught-Six, the steering wheel has to be sold seperately and is subject to an interstate steering wheel tax.

Jason - Since I haven't taken a good picture in over 15 years  (OK, I'm exaggerating, but it is rare), I may at some point try to get someone to scan a vintage shot and put it in as my avatar.  Who knows, I may start a trend?  :)
