Edi, how do I find the "hidden track" in the DVD?

We viewed the disc in the computer, not the DVD player. Even though I'm technically adept at most things I don't know much about "Easter Eggs" or "Hidden Tracks" so I need some enlightenment.

DR TCB - There is a new 2-Disc Edition of 300 that is now available, so the first release single disk may be on sale.  It will have this logo on the front if it is the one with Gerard Butt-ler.

TOD

hard to choose one because I am not sure when the Jack Nicholson persona took over the roles he started to play. I have always thought he has been the weakest link in his films perhaps since Terms of Endearment. But it may have started with The Shining. There were a couple of good films inbetween, but since 1983 I don't think there has been one film I have seen with him (I haven't see them all) that I was never convinced he was playing the character and not himself.

I just got an e-mail asking if I was interested in 40% off tickets to Sondheim's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH PLAYBILL.  It must be a reimagining of the original.

Well DR TCB.....at least it wasn't that show that went around the Midwest a couple of seasons ago....the wrestling version:

Sunday In the Park With Gorgeous George.

Re my posting from yesterday about the song titles.

I been trying to use what versions I have (not necessarily the originals) and what I didn't have I downloaded from Itunes.

I am trying to do some research for an article I am planning to write.
They are all Academy Award winning or nominated songs.

I will search out the ones people posted yesterday and I believe Tom said he had some of them.  Thanks BTW.

There is one that I didn't post yesterday and that was The Wishing Doll from Hawaii. It wasn't even sung in the film. (More talked) and I believe it ran less than a minute maybe a little more on screen.  It was never released on the Hawaii soundtrack despite being a Julie Andrews "vocal"

DR Michael.  Susan Sackett's book "Hollywood Sings' will give you virtually everything you need to know about the oscar nominated songs.(it goes up to 1993).

Am I the only one here who actually saw Gorgeous George wrestle?  I saw a match between he and Freddie Blassie, and at the end, GG lost, and they cut his hair off (an obvious wig).  While I wrote about many of the wrestling matches I saw in Kritzer Time, I don't think I included that one.

When Ginny said she was probably going to stay home today, because of her cold, I thought, "What a baby!"

So here I am at home, having coughed the whole night.  I believe this could be the THE COLD FROM PLANET X.

Though I love, love, love the score to Hawaii (and The Wishing Doll, such as it is), I find it reprehensible that the Academy chose to nominate that as best song, when, as Michael correctly points out, it was never really sung in the film, while it overlooked perhaps the most gorgeous ballad of the 60s, Maybe September by Percy Faith/Livingston & Evans, from, ironically, The Oscar.  Rant over.

There is a Percy Faith recording of My Wishing Doll, Michael.  I'm not sure I ever heard a vocal version, though I believe I have the sheet music somewhere.

Chinatown
Goin' South

I prefer Jack in the musical version of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.

"A World That Never Was" was never released commercially.
"Strange Are The Ways Of Love" from "The Stepmother" may not have been either.
"The Facts of life" was sung by Steve & Eydie - it was not released as a single by them.

I remember when Frank Rich wrote about SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE so often that there was an affectionate joke going around referring to SUNDAY IN THE TIMES WITH GEORGE.

MMMM  JMK has the sheet music (and thus also the Lyrics!) - and he is a musician who has recorded commercially.   MMMMMMM .

There's a market for the song! With or without a Bossa Nova touch!

Do You See What I See?

This is the view from my chair in our family room:

Oh, Ginny, your family room looks wonderful.  I have no decorations up this year.  I didn't even put a wreath on the door.  I m not a total Scrooge.  I gave the kids their new beds for the bedroom last night for their Christmas presents.  Naturally, they both loved one of them and ignored the other.

Well I may have nominated it for the Pulitzer, but I think it won because of Frank Rich.

At least in the NY Metro area, PBS is airing Weill's Mahagonny with Patti and Audra tonight.

That is the first good reason I have ever heard for NOT living in New York.
