DR Ben left without telling us about the movie showing last night. I must admit I'm curious about what kinds of people were in attendance [besides DR Ben and his dear Ant, of course!]

And now I'm back and Sing has left.
We had a very good time. There were many couples in attendance. Hedda asked how many couples there were and many, many hands went up. One couple has been together for 17 years and another for 14 years. In honor of VD Miss Hedda had a new wig with a big red bow and a green dress with red highlights. Her monolouge was very sharp and funny. We didn't win any door prizes but we had a good time nonetheless, though we did miss getting a red swag bag with fortune cookies and a reformulated formula of KY (that's the personal lubricant, not the state of Kentucky)
I forgot how attractive Mr. Ryan O'Neal used to be before the vagaries of life took over. Miss Madeline Kahn was a hoot (as usual). She was "introduced" in this movie. I didn't realize this was her first major role. Miss Barbra was very good and the car chase at the end was just as much fun as I remember.
There will be an article in the City Section of Sunday's Times about the Chelsea Classics experience. They have some great films lined up for the Spring. They aren't listed on the Web site but things like Valley of the Dolls, Auntie Mame, The Women, Sunset Boulevard and more. I might be spending Thursday nights in May at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers.
It is raining.
-
Good morning, all! I'm a bit down today; this is the anniversary of my dad's death. He died a year ago today, around 12:50 am, and I awoke this morning at 12:50 am, wondering if he'd stopped by to check on me. I'd wanted to bein Ohio today to stop by his grave, but the finances of the apartment have kept me here. So, perhaps on March 15 I'll return to visit him.
Today's mostly domestic: a stop at the bank for some notarized signatures, a trip to the pharmacy, some writing here, and possibly a movie after I scrub another section of the floor with Steri-Fab.
TOD:
DVD: Everything's still in storage, but I have a couple of Netflix titles and the new JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB and BECOMING JANE

Laundry tonight, then dinner.
Ant has dance class tomorrow and he might go to an audition. He also might go to an audition on Sunday though he hasn't decided yet.
We still have some Noel Coward to watch. We have also been watching some old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Years ago Ant bought a set of 10 videotapes called
Hollywood Legends Glamorous Ladies
They are listed as "10 Hollywood Classics From the Golden Age of the Silver Screen"
Well it is marketing after all. Some of them are quite good. Some of them...are not. We haven't yet watched them all. The films include:
Elizabeth Taylor in Father's Little Dividend (watched and enjoyed)
Carole Lombard in Nothing Sacred (watched and enjoyed, the Jule Styne musical Hazel Flagg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazel_Flagg) is based on this film)
Betty Davis in Of Human Bondage (watched and enjoyed)
Ginger Rogers in Heartbeat (watched and enjoyed by Ant but not by me)
Lana Turner in Mr. Imperium (not yet watched)
Greta Garbo in Joyless Street (not yet watched)
Rita Hayworth in The Dancing Pirate (watched and enjoyed by Ant but not by me; this is marketing run amok; it's NOT a Rita Hayworth movie. She has a very, very, very small role, in fact she's not even listed in the credits, you only see her if you know what she looked like in 1936 and can pick her out in one of the dancing sequences; I thought the movie was painful to watch)
Marlene Dietrich in The Blue Angel (not yet watched)
Dorothy Lamour in My Favorite Brunette (watched and sort of enjoyed by Ant; again, I found this painful to watch; I found it not remotely funny; the story was irritating and Bob Hope was DREADFULLY bad (IMHO); Dorthy Lamour was Dorthy Lamour, beautiful but not much else)
Marilyn Monroe in Hometown Story (watched and sort of enjoyed; not as bad as the Rita Hayworth marketing but still, this is not a Marilyn Monroe movie; she has a small role (she does get screen credit) as a secretary; it's 61 minutes of hype about how business is good for America and how profits are more than just money)
Well, it is almost 8:30 so I should get back to work.
Later, gaters.

Here's a shot of the videotapes. I tried putting it in the previous post but it wouldn't show up

Good morning!
It's bright but very cloudy out. Doesn't look like rain today, but they are forecasting that for the weekend. Still, I can get my errands done and it shouldn't be very cold.

I didn't get nearly enough sleep. I stayed up too late writing. Ah, well, one of the downsides of the job. I did stop at a certain point and picked back up this morning. Sometimes, though, one needs to get his thoughts down then no matter what the hour.

Well, at least recently.
OK, since last week's.
-
Media:
CD: an unreleased promo copy of Claudine Longet: Treasures. We just listened to her Top 40 rendition of "Rosemary's Baby." Not (the Top 40 part).
DVD: finally made it through my mammoth reviewing project of the 14 DVD History Channel war set. Oy. In spare time, Betsy and I watched "Once," which, while perfectly enjoyable, was not the second coming for us that several people had told us it would be. Glen Hansard (or whatever his name is) looks like the Celtic cousin of that guy on Mythbusters. :)
-
BK, if you liked The Love Parade, you're going to LOVE The Smiling Lieutenant.
-
JR, the Claudine CD contains her unreleased-to-LP single of the Dark Shadows Theme (with narration!). Of course, Andy recorded it, too.
-
The Smiling Lieutenant
Sounds like it could almost be a euphemism! ;)
-
Best.....LOST.....ever.
Well, at least recently.
OK, since last week's.
My sentiments exactly. I'm astonished every week how these writers keep things going, introducing new mysteries, keep the surprises coming.
-
Why do my eyes/mind keep reading today's topic title as THE LUBOVITCH TOUCH? ::)
Do you mean Lubavitch? Betsy's brother and family go to a Chabad Lubavitcher shul outside of Milwaukie, Wisconsin, and while I must say that kind of ultra-orthodoxy is completely foreign to me, they are some of the coolest people I've ever met and they were so remarkably loving and accepting of my autistic nephew who made his Bar Mitzvah there.
-
My sentiments exactly. I'm astonished every week how these writers keep things going, introducing new mysteries, keep the surprises coming.
Did you, like Betsy and I did, gasp out loud at the "surprise" toward the end with Sayyid and his lover? We had already guessed Sayyid's motives/goal, but hers blew us away!
-
And the word of the day is: NOSOCOMIAL!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SOMETHING BAD IS HAPPENING
-
Good Morning!
Greetings from Rehearsal Studio(s) F-G!
...Where's there's a whole lotta dancin' goin' on!
-
Did you, like Betsy and I did, gasp out loud at the "surprise" toward the end with Sayyid and his lover? We had already guessed Sayyid's motives/goal, but hers blew us away!
No, as I mentioned (vaguely) last night, her surprise I anticipated and so wasn't blown away (things were going just too smoothly). The aftermath, however, was very exciting.
-
...And due to a change in schedule, it looks like I'll be busier today than expected. But, in the long run - well short run - it balances out yesterday's unexpectedly short day.
-
The A&M Board says there were only 10 (ten!) of these promo CDs of Claudine issued, that the project was pulled after that. Wow. I got it on eBay for $9.99 from a Russian seller, believe it or don't. It's all of her unreleased to LP singles, some nice stuff, including stuff I think she's singing in Japanese. I'm not a big fan of her voice, but most of her arrangements were by Nick DeCaro, whom I've always really liked.
-
I guess I'll head down now and start getting ready to go out for my usual Friday errands. Have to stop by the post office to mail a package today, too.
WBBL.
-
No, as I mentioned (vaguely) last night, her surprise I anticipated and so wasn't blown away (things were going just too smoothly). The aftermath, however, was very exciting.
Sorry, I must have missed that.
Well I have to say as someone who ALWAYS guesses twists, usually in the first 30 seconds, this one caught me totally off guard, so kudos to you! :)
-
Page Three Nikko Dance!!!

And now I'm REALLY going!
;D

Do you mean Lubavitch?
That's what I meant! I've corrected the spelling on my original post. :P

Well, you're in luck, because the Lubavitchers practice separation of the sexes (with a Mechitzah at services), so chances are you'll only be touched by another guy. ;D

re: LAST NIGHT'S LOST
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
*
*
*
I really did enjoy last night's show.
And it was interesting to find out another of the Oceanic 6.
Sayid's flashforwards were very interesting.
I can't say that i figured out what his "girlfriend" was up to. But I will say i was a bit disappointed that they let ben talk in the last bit. I think the reveal would have been so much better if it had not been completely obvious that that was his voice.
I will say though that the thought of sayid working for ben is very intriguing. And i can't wait to find out more about that.
I also think it will be very interesting to see if sayid and the helicopter land on the boat.
-
I have always had a fondness for Longet's voice and have a lot of her CDs, mostly imports.
-
so chances are you'll only be touched by another guy.
That's the title of my next memoir:
Touched By Another Guy: My Life as a Shiksa Goddess
-
I have shaved.
-
I will now shower.
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
I have shaved.
You'll be dashing and, I daresay, a great success at today's show. Have fun! :)
-
Several of you here (and you know who you are) will get a kick out of this:
As the Oregonians (and maybe Washingtonians) may know, there's been a continuing battle here on the legality of civil unions for gay couples. So there was a big op-ed piece by this completely brain-dead right wing Republican state senator named Marylin (she can't even spell her name correctly) Shannon, going on and on about the "gay agenda." Well, two days later there was a hysterical letter to the editor in the Oregonian from a guy who said he was straight and he had never gotten a copy of the gay agenda, that perhaps it was lost in the mail, and therefore could Ms. Shannon please forward her copy on to him. ;D
-
That's the title of my next memoir:
Touched By Another Guy: My Life as a Shiksa Goddess
You're a Shiksa? Well abandon your Lubavitcher fantasy, then. :)
-
So... Would the sister/brother book be, Touched By Another Goy?

Hmm.... If DR MBarnum was at the dance call I'm playing right now, he'd be in heaven. ;)
Of course, he's at the Ray Courts Show right now, so I guess he's already there. :)

I shall now be on my way to the Hollywood Collector's Show.

It is beautiful and sunny out today and I must shower, shave, and hie myself back over to Eddie Brandt's Saturday Matinee and pick up my photos. The Ray Courts show doesn't open until 11:00 so I guess I have time.

They have added a few names to the roster for today's show...Edd Byrnes will now be in attendance as is my interviewee Don Marshall (Land of the Giants).
Unfortunately, I noticed that Edith Fellows is now not on the list :(

Would that be facing away from the mirror? ;)
Umm.. No.
However, the "physical expression" part is "towards the wall".

Larry,
I know what you mean. On my way home the other night, I actually drove down my mother's street to go visit her before I realized she was no longer there.
On a cheerier note, I'm having Chicken Fried Rice and Earl Grey tea for breakfast-- just wasn't in the mood for cereal, oatmeal or toast.
-
I have purchased curtains. Now I shall sweep the driveway.

Well, I'm about to enjoy some macarons from a new little, French coffee and pastry shop I happened to walk by during my lunch break. Today's flavors - well, at least the one I'm going to try: matcha green tea and Violette (violet).
The Parisienne sandwich was pretty good:jambon, gruyere, cornichons, beurre and lettuce on a quite authentic baguette.

We have had this ridiculously slow drain in our main bathroom that I have been Liquid Plum'ring and Drano-ing into oblivion for years. I finally got sick of having to do this every few months and got the heavy duty, sulphuric acid kind today and we actually have "swirling" water for the first time ever in that bathroom drain. Of course I told Betsy the punchline is the pipes are going to fall off the sink in a few minutes.

Last I checked, I remain unique on Google, although my last name gets misspelled almost as often as it gets it right. The Lovely Wife(tm) shares her maiden name with a grantwriting specialist and a Math PhD, and her married name with a German school administrator. With our last name's most common mis-spelling, she shares a bunch more, including a pretty comical author.

Oh, I will. :)

Actually, since my 8th day...

I am back from Eddie Brandt's, who don't open until 1 pm. I was thinking this was Saturday and they open at 8:30 am on Saturdays. I guess that is what happens when one is on vacation...everyday is a Saturday.
However the drive around North Hollywood and back to Burbank was very nice and I stopped at Ralph's Grocery store and purchaed somw low carb yogurt.
I imagine BK is at his table in the ballroom awaiting the throngs. I was going to go down to visit with him but I do not think they will let me in until 11 pm as I am not with one of the celebrity guests this time.
-
I also listened to auditions today, DR Jose. The gentlemen mockingbirds are singing, hoping to attract a lady.

Make sure to go up to Carol Channing
Trouble maker! ;)
Just be careful, DR MBarnum, when she starts putting her hand in here and there.

Bruce, I’m glad you got your table moved out of no man’s land. I’m sorry, I think the Carol Channing story is funny.

DR elmore, my thoughts are with you today. Maybe your father did visit you this morning since you couldn’t go to him.
-
Welcome Chickens, though I’m confused cuz there is only one photo in your avatar.
Hi Pigs, it’s nice to see you again.

Thank you Jeanne. Of course I’ll be thinking about them until I hear some news.
Matt H, we completely agree with you regarding the jr. lawyer on Eli Stone, so much in fact we stopped recording the show.

Michael S.
It was when I was younger I was a strong believer and since Valentine's Day was named after a saint I rejected the concept of the day.
I find that intriguing you rejected the holiday at such a young age. I was religious and it never entered my mind, or the mind of any of my friends-just about all of whom were Jewish. But then I, and most of them, celebrated Christmas. I was obviously spiritually religious, not in practice. ;D

At last some good news from Miami University! I hope this lets my neighbors who are sick of looking at the 40 cartons outside my apartment door breathe a sigh of relief as well. The collection of theatre/career memorabilia will indeed be going to Miami, and today things were set into motion on how the cartons will get to Oxford, OH, and what I need to do to expedite they're arriving safely.
My super, myneighbors, and, I understand, the local fire dept station are eager to see this leave the building ASAP, so hopefully, within the next week or so, it will vanish.

So far I have had nice chats with Kathleen Hughes...

Mr. Gordon was very nice and friendly, which I was very happy about as I was nervouse about meeting him...seeing as how he is my # 1 favorite director!!! But he put me at ease right away!
The last person I met and chatted with was Mr. John Saxon....(http://www.mysticgames.com/famouspeople/pictures/JohnSaxon.jpg)...I was having someone snap a photo of the two of us together, but the batteries up and died in my camera at that very moment >:( So, after eating a sandwich I will scout around for some fresh batteries and try again later.

I had something of a bonanza (not the TV show) in the mail today.
Finally arriving were the Lana Turner and Tammy DVD sets.
I got four HD-DVDs in the mail: three I ordered plus one from a dear friend.
I got three review discs in the mail today including THINGS WE DID IN THE FIRE and on Blu-ray DAN IN REAL LIFE (almost a month before its scheduled release. Good grief. I won't get to it for weeks.)
-
That IS good news, DR Elmore! Congratulations to you and to Miami!
-
I began my afternoon by watching last night's SUPERNATURAL. An excellent episode with a great showcase this week for Jared Padeleki.
Of course, I had to watch it in SD being delayed as it was. And just like the last time it was delayed, the show was 15 minutes late in beginning, but I learned from my mistake last time and had the DVR record the show after SUPERNATURAL on the cable guide, so I ended up getting to see the entire show.
-
It's been a real social-work kind of day here at the library - no, we don't hand out bus fare and, no, I can't tell you where you're supposed to vote (but the Board of Elections can...).
My friend and co-worker, Sue, and I spent some time today looking forward to our trip next month to Minneapolis for the Public Library Association conference. Here are some theatre options we're considering:
Jersey Boys at the Orpheum
Jane Eyre and Third at the Guthrie
42nd Street, Respect, and The Wonder Bread Years at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre
Any insights?
Also, Sue asked me to ask folks here if anyone can recommend a travel company or website that she can use to plan a theatre trip to London. She just wants lodging and tickets, and maybe airfare, without a lot of other package stuff.
-
At last some good news from Miami University!
The only thing what would make this news better would be if you were required to accompany the materials to Ohio, DR Elmore!
-
Next, I watched WALKER, directed by Alex Cox. Ostensibly a quasi-biography of William Walker who invaded Nicaragua in 1856 (at the behest of Cornelius Vanderbilt) and set himself up as president for a couple of years until he was ousted. Of course, being made in 1987, the film really served as a satirical indictment of Reagan's policies against the Sandinistas.
Though it wasn't really meant as a historical drama, I did find the historical aspects the most interesting. The satire is very heavy handed, and all kinds of anachronisms are introduced into the film that took me out of the movie every single time.
Still, I'm glad I saw it.
-
I then spent most of the remainder of the afternoon watching the bonus features on the disc. There's a long documentary shot during the making of the film, and it really gives a true behind the scenes look at making the movie including complaints from the extras, seeing the stars out of character, watching the director in action and also relaxing. (This director also did REPO MAN and SID AND NANCY.)
There's also an audio diary of Miguel Sandoval (the DA on MEDIUM) who played a small part in the movie and also served as second unit director on the film.
There's also a section of behind the scenes photographs and a longer section of Polaroids taken of the actors in costume.
-
MBarnum-nice photos, even if they aren't current. ;) I'm glad you are having such a wonderful time.
-
There are two more items on the set for me to get through later today: a documentary about Nicaragua today and also the audio commentary featuring the director and the screenwriter.
-
Bryan called & said his interviews went well. :D He was also pleased with the school. He won't know anything until March, which is fine.
-
I did manage to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS where there was no Luke or Noah. However, they were featured in the previews for next week, so that's something to look forward to.
-
This just in from VARIETY:
Today CBS issued its first wave of renewals for next season. They include only two presently running comedies: TWO AND A HALF MEN and THE BIG BANG THEORY. SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE have already received renewals for next season.
Also renewed for next season were "Cold Case," "Criminal Minds," "CSI," "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Ghost Whisperer," "NCIS," "Numbers" and "Without a Trace."
Missing from the pickup list: critical fave laffer "How I Met Your Mother." Net hasn't yet determined the long-term fates of newcomers "Moonlight," "Cane" and "Welcome to the Captain," while "The Unit," "Shark," "Jericho," "Rules of Engagement" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" also remain on the bubble.
-
DR MBarnum - glad you're having a good time, and enjoyed your photos.
Regarding Ty Hardin...perhaps you can't get a man with a gun...or can you? ;)

Get well vibes to George!!

TOD:
Car CD:
the three initial releases of Sara Gazarek - just fabulous.
[Thanks, DR td, for that great recommendation! :) :) :) ]
I very glad that you're enjoying Sara. I very touched, and grateful, that you took my recommendation(s) to heart.
Sara is a treasure who deserves to be better known.
-
I was just Googling myself, and discovered that there is a person with my exact name in a place called Cockermouth, UK.
Now really.
Is this some sort of cosmic commentary? ;)
Is his first name JOE?
-
Wasn't Ty Hardin one of Henry Willson's coterie of boys?

Well, I must write a little bit and then head down to mop that $*^%&^%# kitchen floor.
WBBL.

Missing from the pickup list: critical fave laffer "How I Met Your Mother."
We stopped watching this. Has he met their mother yet? If not, & the show isn't renewed, I hope they have time to wrap it up.
-
It's a roller coaster here, I tell ya; my crazy neighbor has been complaining, according to the building management, about the 40 cartons occupying floor space outside my door. No one else on the third floor has a problem but her. So, today, around four pm, a local battalion from the local fire dept arrived to check out a complaint about the cartons. They were very nice, as they gave me a summons, and advised me to get the cartons out of the hall by Tuesday, which is the day that I supposedly hear how MU wants to handle getting the cartons to Ohio. Of course the cartons may not leave the premises until a month after that.
So, I will by Tuesdasy have 40+ unwanted cartons taking up space once again in my apartment because a neurotic bitch has to cause problems. Of course, she denied the complaints after I confronted her, but the building manager told me she had been complaining! Maybe I shokd send her infested bedding.
-
DR elmore, ask the complaining neighbor to store some of the boxes for you until they can be shipped.
-
Hi George. I thought you might be sleeping in today. I hope another day at home leaves you much improved.
Thanks, I do too. :)
-
Get well vibes to George!!
And thank you!
-
I've been watching the last two episodes of "Big Shots" and a few other things on my DVR. I'm still congested, but at least the headache has gone away. :D
-
WE LOVE YOU LARRY!!!!!
-
Headaches are horrible, I'm pleased yours is gone.
-
Any insights?
DR Ginny - I don't know from London theatre, but I imagine other DRs can give you some insights.
I assume you've checked out the video clips on the Guthrie offerings here (http://www.guthrietheater.org/whats_happening/shows/2007/third)?
-
WE LOVE YOU LARRY!!!!!
O YES, WE DO!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU LARRY!!!!!
AND WE'LL BE TRUE!!!!!!!!
WHEN YOU'RE NOT NEAR US, WE'RE BLUE!!!!!!!
OH LARRY, WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been watching the first season of "Gidget" (which we watched religiously in 1965). I'm seeing my older sister's wardrobe in every episode!
Although it was mostly filmed on the Screen Gems lot (Mr. Wilson's house was the exterior, and it was Hazel's kitchen), they do some nice 1965 location shots occasionally. I actually thought life and high school were going to be that way. Little did I know.......
-
And yes-- we love you, Larry!
-
Oh, Larry, if any one deserves to be bitch-slapped, it's your nose, nebby, not-to-nice neighbor!
-
Hugs and warm wishes and support for DR Elmore.
-
It is still raining.
-
Thank you all for your sympathy. I was outside the apartment taping cartons and carting them into the apartment and she had the nerve to ask me if I needed help!
i wanted to ask her if she ever had seen the view from the roof.
-
I hate it when people do that...
-
Laura, you can keep the rain... :)
It would make things very icy here :)
-
Elmore Dear, you should have said yes and let her help with the work.
-
Good Evening!
Whew!
That was a long day of auditions! And we managed to sing about 80 people during the last two hours of the day. WHEW!!!
-
...And I guess everyone else in my apartment must have an extremely bad sense of smell - or mine is just very sensitive (which it can be at times, but...) -When I came home today, as soon as I opened the door, all I could smell was rotting garbage. Someone - and I know who it is - threw out a whole bunch of rotting vegetable from the fridge this morning.... and should have just taken the garbage out then since it was full too! UGH!
-
TOD (amended) - today I received a shipment from Amazon that contained, among other things, a new CD for my car - Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening.
-
DR elmore - Just leave a roll of packing tape and mailing labels in front of your neighbor's door with a note attached to it: "Well, I guess I would like your help after all."
-
Elmore Dear, you should have said yes and let her help with the work.
Then I would have had to listen to her repellent claims of innocence and misrepresentation.
-
TOD: DR Sandra just put "Silk Stockings" in our new DVD player.
-
As for the Friday Media Check-
Radio: WQXR
CD: Idina Menzel - "I Stand"
Brent Dennen - "So Much More" - A truly unique singer/voice, and an amazing album.
Holly Cole - "Holly Cole"
Billy Elliott - OCR (for reference purposes) ;)
-
DR Elmore - hang in there. We love you.
-
DR elmore-I understand why you declined, however, she is either innocent or feeling guilty for having reported you. Either way she seems to be sorry & you have exhausted yourself working so hard. Help would have been nice.
-

The bitch can act innocent and outraged or guilty all she wants; she's pulled enough crap in this building over the past 20 years to others that no one's fooled any more, and she's shown enough ugliness toward me for the past three weeks that I have no urge to be in her company.
-

Well, all she said was that she was putting the disc in the DVD player. No mention was made of turning on the TV.
;)

DR Singdaw - I had not seen the clips because I was at work, but just watched them. Now I really want to go to the Guthrie and am very jealous of my friend Sue. She's going on a backstage tour there, but it's scheduled at a time when I have a pre-conference to attend.
-
DR elmore, I just worry about you working so hard & all the stress you have been going through. I suppose she would just stress you out more, even if she did help.

Good point, Jose!

Now I'm going to join Richard to watch Numb3rs - if I can stay awake!
See y'all tomorrow.

Cute :)

CD:
2 CDs purchased from today from Roberta Shore and two CDs purchased today from Frank Stallone.
I am currently listening to "RANDY BOONE AND ROBERTA SHORE: THE SINGING STARS OF THE VIRGINIAN". It is fun.
-
Things I learned today:
Frank Stallone is much better looking in real life then in photos. In fact he is hot! He could have me any time he wanted...if he were so inclined.
John Wesley Shipp is rather tall and has the biggest hands I have ever seen on a human being.
The cast of LAND OF THE GIANTS are about as nice of people you could ever meet.
Molly Bee is a total sweetheart, despite all of her difficulties in life.
John Saxon is rarely asked about his one Bollywood movie appearance, and was quite suprised that I knew who Shammi Kapoor and Dharmendra were.
Cynthia Myers is still stacked! And one of the sweetest gals ever.
-
Big hands, big gloves.
-
In the mail yesterday (I didn't check it until earlier this afternoon) were two CDs that I had ordered: Betty Buckley's "Quintessence (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010YPTDI)" and the 2007 original cast recording of Happy Days (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XUOLM0)[/b]. And today (I just checked my mail again), the original cast recording of Take Flight (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XUOLLQ). I've already listened to "Quintessence" and it's very good...in my humble opinion. :)

Thanks for the report. I take such pleasure in your knowledge and joy (as I'm sure the celebrities do).

I meant to post later this afrternoon that I did read about BURN NOTICE. It will start filming its second season of episodes in April and will be back on the air with new episodes in July.
-
Good night, Mary Ellen!
-
By the 5th episode the exterior of the house was different, but it was still Hazel's kitchen. So far Marty Milner and Harvey Korman have appeared in some episodes. A different world .....
I LOVE the episode with Paul Lynde. My favorite of the entire run of the series.
-
Thanks for the report, MBarnum.
-
I began my evening by watching the remaining bonus features on WALKER.
One feature called WALKER 2008 was nothing but director Alex Cox pulling out the file of reviews for WALKER, noting the two or three positive reviews the film received, and then reading excerpts from all the negative ones. I didn't quite understand the point of the feature. It's not like time has proven the film a masterpiece at all. It still divides everyone who sees it: some love it and others think it's ridiculous.
-
I did enjoy the audio commentary, however. He and screenwriter Rudy Wurlitzer NEVER stop talking for the entire 94 minutes, are interesting talkers, and cover every aspect of the writing, filming, and reaction to the movie.
-
Larry, you could send one of us west coasters her contact info. A sensible 10 or 11 o'clock repeated "wrong number"call here is 1 or 2 in the a.m. there. I can protest innocence with the best of them--in a heavy Armenian accent. ;D
-
Here it is only 8:15 and I am listening to Frank Stallone (with the Billy May orchestra) sing BUT BEAUTIFUL. I am feeling all tingly inside.
He is one heck of a crooner and I certainly recommend his CDs.
-
I saw my very first HD-DVD tonight: PRIDE & PREJUDICE. I only got to see a little bit of it, but I rewatched it in SD earlier this week so I could have the SD image firmly in my mind when I saw the HD version.
No comparison, of course. So much sharper, much more dimensional in look, and details all were more lifelike. The Dolby TrueHD track made the music sound like it was wafting around you, kind of hovering in the air. Remarkable.
-
MONK had its best mystery and best episode in a long time. Even though it's a two parter, the mystery gets solved right at the end of the first part. Being able to pin it on the guilty party will obviously be what what two will be about next week.
-
PSYCH was hilarious tonight with the boys investigating a missing mummy and getting creeped out about investigating in a dark museum. Shawn's efforts to sneak by Gus had me in stitches.

2 CDs purchased from today from Roberta Shore and two CDs purchased today from Frank Stallone.
I am currently listening to "RANDY BOONE AND ROBERTA SHORE: THE SINGING STARS OF THE VIRGINIAN". It is fun.
Though Max Steiner is sometimes inexplicably listed as composer of the great (first) Theme from The Virginian, it is in fact a marvelous Percy Faith composition, his only television theme.
-
Tomorrow, before I can start BEOWULF, I have an Irish kid's animated program to watch that won last year's Emmy for Best Animated CHildren's Show. I can't even remember the name of it (I'd never heard of it), but it's 92 minutes (I'm assuming a bunch of episodes rather than one long TV film.) I'll find out tomorrow.
-
I have not see Beowulf yet, but it is on my list.
-
I probably won't get to BEOWULF until Sunday. I don't remember what kind of bonus features are on it (it may even be a two disc set. It came weeks ago, but I do the DVDs in order of release dates).
After that, it's that mammoth Criterion box for THE LAST EMPEROR which has FOUR discs in it - two separate versions of the film (one with commentary) plus two discs of bonus features. It will take me three or four days with that box alone.
-
I'm I'm going to finish writing up WALKER and then head down to bed. Thankfully, there's not much left to say about WALKER.
Good night!
-
It is quiet this evening...
-
Today, I read my book for class, worked on an essay and did some exercising....
-
Just heard a story on nightline that land near the Hollywood sign is being sold. IMHO, it is not a good thing. It would mar the iconic legacy of the sign.
-
Page eight?
-
I spent an hour playing BOOKWORM...it has been a long time...I thought I had gotten that monkey off my back.
-
Had a lovely dinner with neighbors Bart and Marian.
I have to got to the tax office tomorrow, so goodnight.
-
BK - Did that box of Milla CD's get sent out?
-
I am back from a long show and a great dinner with Mr. Bert I. Gordon and beautiful daughter Christina.
-
Hope it was a successful day, BK!
-
Does anyone happen to have the 1962 version of TOWER OF LONDON on dvd? I guess it is out of print now and I need to see it (Netflix does not seem to have it and I don't want to spend 25 bucks buying it from an Amazon.com buyer). I hope to be interviewing someone from the film in a the very near future.
-
The show was fun. I don't think it was that well attended, but then again Friday is a work day for most people. That said, Mr. Borgnine had a HUGE line the entire time, as did Mr. Falk. Then there was Mr. Kennedy and Miss Channing - their lines weren't nearly as big but were steady all day long.
-
Milla's box will go out Monday.
-
That doesn't sound right.
-
I arrived at the hotel at nine-thirty and got a great parking space. There were very few people in the room, which I found peculiar until someone informed me the show didn't start until eleven. I thought it was ten. The good news was that they let hotel guests in early and someone came to my table five minutes after I arrived and bought two books and two CDs - a lovely way to start the day.
-
Our aisle really wasn't busy, though, for most of the day. Bert arrived about thirty minutes after I did, and we just had a great time together all day. Miss Mackenzie Phillips wasn't there and, in fact, didn't show up until three because she broke a tooth. By that time, Mr. Jonathan Winters had left because he ran out of photos, so Mackenzie took his prime table. She'll probably be back with us tomorrow.
-
I was seated next to Bert, and near us were Steve Kanaly, Richard Hatch, and Butch Patrick.
-
My helper was Miss Patti, and my pal Nick Redman was also there.
-
I had nice chats with Mr. Kanaly and Mr. Hatch, and most especially with Mackenzie - I hadn't really seen her since I gave her a copy of Benjamin Kritzer and she told me that the instant she read it it had become one of her all-time favorite books. So, I'll make sure she gets the other two books tomorrow.
-
I spoke briefly to Mr. Kennedy, but he seemed very out of it and I'm not sure he had a clew as to what I was telling him. Also, had a grand chat with Miss Stella Stevens, and said hey to Ed Asner, Dick Van Patten, and Robert Walden.
-
More about all this in the notes.
-
So, I sold books, CDs, and more photos than I've ever sold, which is what happens when you have photos from shows people remember you from.
-
The woman in the room next to mine has the hiccups. She is very noisy about it.
-
Bk sold a lot of autographs and I bought a lot of autographs! Whew!
-
Now she is coughing very loudly. In addition to that they are very loud talkers in that room. I hope they turn in early.
-
Glad to hear that you had a great time bk...
-
Glad you got some autographs Mbarnum...
-
Perhaps MBarnum is next to Carol Channing. Plus, MBarnum didn't tell his Carol Channing story.
-
Nobody here but us chickens.
-
At 10:20 no less.
-
Tomorrow's show does start at ten.
-
We dined at Genghis Cohen.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
Hello DR Megan...
-
bk, did you see the pm i sent ?
-
I am in a cleaning mood ....
Reoganizing the computer room...
-
I did get the PM - I can't make any decisions until Sunday, but I will say that these Oscar promos are not like buying regular CDs, they're all highly collectible items. But, I'll sort it out on Sunday and let you know what can be done.
-
I feel oddly productive at this moment... go figure...
-
i can settle for one....
-
bk, that's fair! :)
-
I was curious :)
-
Getting things organized for going to Utah in March... Will be stopping off in Lost Wages and meeting a fellow HHWer...
I am looking forward to meeting DR Laura...
-
I'm quite tired, but still have the notes to write and post.
-
sending vibes to bk for writing notes...
-
ARe you attending again tomorrow bk? The Courts show that is...
Who is the most interesting person you have met there?
-
I am praying my telly holds out until summer when I can get a new one... Present telly needs time to warm up to watch anything...
-
One of my projects when it warms up a bit and I can find someone to help me haul them to my car is there is a now a place that is collecting old electronics to keep them from, going in the landfill. I have two dead monitors and a scanner taht need to go. I am tired of using them as a foot rest and a floor ornament
-
One of the monitors blew up when I was reading here on HHW... All of sudden the notes disappeared and the screen went black with a spoof of smoke coming out from the back.
-
There other one started turning everything to shades of green.
-
I have less than 80 to a new plateau.
-
We will be near freezing tomorrow... Much nicer than the temps we had on Wednesday..
-
I am on a roll...
-
I may pop in an audio book dvd into the old puter and listen to it while reorganizing...
-
What? No pictures of the Courts Show?
-
Well... Since we're so close, I guess I shall stay for a few more minutes for the changing of the day...
